"You mean a powerhouse from the multiverse came to this world and started watching me?"
Chen Mu could not help frowning. In the Marvel World, the definition of strength was extremely vague. Terms like Single Universe Level and multiverse level had no clear, defining descriptions.
They could not be intuitively demonstrated.
In terms of influence, perhaps it could be explained this way: Single Universe Level strength was power capable of affecting a single universe, while multiverse-level power could affect more universes.
But that also depended on the individual’s actual strength. In the X-Men series, there were quite a few people who could affect the multiversal level, yet their personal combat strength was not necessarily all that great.
Take the wisecracking Deadpool, for example. There was even a story called Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe, but was his own power really that strong?
Strong, sure. But if he wanted to affect the entire universe, that might not be possible.
Yet in terms of influence, he could still be considered multiverse-level.
If multiverse-level power had come to this universe and was watching Chen Mu, then it would naturally have a major impact on China’s future development.
"It may not necessarily be power from the multiverse that has entered this world."
Ancient One smiled faintly and continued, "A sorcerer’s duty is to stop multiversal crises from spreading into our world. But so far, I have not sensed any multiversal-level power entering our world. Clearly, the feeling of being watched that you sensed should have come from outside this universe."
"Outside this universe?"
Chen Mu was startled. What kind of strength would it take to observe him directly from across a universe?
"At the multiversal level, time and space are no longer problems. For all we know, someone may be watching this very conversation right now."
Ancient One said it without a care.
"…"
Chen Mu frowned at that. This was not what he wanted. He did not want everything he did to be watched so easily.
"Then who is he?"
"In this universe, there is an ancient race whose influence spans the entire multiverse. They are the Watchers."
"The Watcher race appeared when the universe was first formed. Their technology is hundreds of millions of years ahead of that of other lifeforms."
As the Sorcerer Supreme, Ancient One knew quite a few secrets concerning the multiversal level, so she had naturally heard of the Watcher race.
"The Watchers do not directly participate in any events in the universe. They merely bear witness as observers, so you need not worry that they will interfere with any of your decisions."
Ancient One was quite detached about the Watchers’ existence and did not take it too seriously.
"The Watchers?"
At last, Chen Mu understood where that strange feeling of being watched had come from.
"Would the Watchers really not interfere with our world?"
Upon hearing of a race whose technology was hundreds of millions of years ahead of humanity’s, Chen Mu could not simply believe Ancient One’s claim that they would not interfere. He would still remain wary.
"In theory, that is the case."
Ancient One set down her teacup and looked thoughtfully at Chen Mu. She sensed his distrust of the Watchers.
"Perhaps you could try speaking to him directly."
"How would I do that?"
Chen Mu was clearly tempted by Ancient One’s suggestion.
"The Infinity Stones have always been the final line of defense used by us Sorcerer Supremes against multiversal crises. But for now, sorcerers no longer need their power."
As she spoke, Ancient One extended her hand. A necklace slowly appeared in her palm: the Eye of Agamotto, which was also the Time Stone.
"This is the Time Stone. Your power is already strong enough. If you use an Infinity Stone, you should be capable of speaking directly with the other party."
The Infinity Stones were undeniably treasures of this world. Every single one possessed unimaginable power.
"This is the Time Stone. I can lend it to you for the time being. With your current strength, you should be able to contact the Watcher through an Infinity Stone."
As she spoke, Ancient One handed the Eye of Agamotto to Chen Mu.
"Eye of Agamotto, analyzing: 1%, 10%, …"
"Time Stone, analyzing: 1%, 2%…"
Well, damn. Looking at the system notifications, Chen Mu’s brows rose strangely.
This worked too?
Could he copy the Infinity Stones?
Although the analysis speed was somewhat slow, it was still being analyzed. Since that was the case, it meant the system could replicate the Infinity Stones.
Upon learning this, Chen Mu could not help feeling tempted.
Did that mean he also had a chance to analyze all the other Infinity Stones?
"Thank you, Ancient One. I’ll return the Time Stone to you after a while."
After putting away the Eye of Agamotto, Chen Mu sincerely thanked Ancient One.
This was a tremendous help to him.
"Mortals cannot directly possess Infinity Stones, but your body is no longer that of a mortal. If you hold the Infinity Stone directly in your hand, you should be able to speak with the Watcher."
Ancient One was particularly grateful to Chen Mu. After all, he had greatly increased the sorcerers’ strength.
Over the past two months, the Magic Martial Arts Academy had been successfully established. In order to give the students better talents, Chen Mu had also created a genetic modification machine based on the Tablet of Life, intending to modify these students first.
This allowed this batch of students to possess not only powerful magical talent, but physical qualities that had also reached an extremely high standard.
This had greatly increased the sorcerers’ strength, so Ancient One was naturally especially grateful to Chen Mu.
Moreover, a stronger China was good news for Ancient One as well. It was a powerful force that could truly assist her in resisting multiversal invasions.
Compared to S.H.I.E.L.D., that organization which constantly claimed to protect Earth, China was the one that could truly be of help.
S.H.I.E.L.D.? It would already be a blessing if they did not cause trouble or hold everyone back.
"Then thank you, Ancient One."
Holding the Time Stone, Chen Mu happily opened a portal and left. He had originally come to ask Ancient One for help, yet he had unexpectedly received such a benefit?
As she watched Chen Mu leave, the smile on Ancient One’s face gradually faded, and she finally let out a helpless sigh.
"From the moment you appeared, the future had already become unknown. Therefore, a new path must be sought."
The multiverse was one such path.
PS: I’m working out the multiverse storyline, so the update speed will slow down. I’ll post two more chapters this afternoon. Next, we’ll enter Captain Carter’s storyline, and since everyone has gone to World War II, shouldn’t they go deal with those little Japanese?
