Old Wang’s Mental World

At the same moment Gorgon made his move—

Black Bolt and Medusa rapidly communicated through telepathy.

"Darling, these people seem quite powerful. Gorgon might not be a match for them." Medusa squeezed Black Bolt’s palm. It felt warm, even sweaty. That usually only happened at night.

Was he nervous?

Black Bolt squeezed Medusa’s palm in return. "They may be Inhumans."

"Inhumans?"

Medusa suddenly tightened her grip. "Our people? There are Inhumans on Earth too?"

Black Bolt rubbed his thumb across Medusa’s palm in reassurance. "Before our ancestors left Earth, Inhumans and humans intermarried, leaving behind many descendants. Some Inhumans were unable to evacuate in time and remained on Earth. There is also a Kree Temple on Earth, containing many Diviner Obelisks. Each Obelisk holds an amount of Terrigen Mist equivalent to one Crystal."

Medusa’s hand stiffened slightly. "Could they be here to reunite with their kin? Do they want to join Attilan? No, it can’t be that simple!"

Black Bolt gently tightened his grip. "It truly isn’t that simple. They are very strong. That blind man carries intense spatial fluctuations; his ability is similar to Tetanus’s. That bespectacled Black man seems able to manipulate energy. Even I am wary of him. The woman is even more extraordinary. She can control shockwaves—it was she who neutralized Gorgon’s seismic wave. Her potential is likely on the same level as mine."

Medusa’s hand trembled, her nails nearly breaking from digging into Black Bolt’s palm. "They’re that strong? It seems like I can’t beat any of them?"

So I’m that weak?

Black Bolt hurriedly comforted her. "That blind man probably can’t beat you… if he stands still and lets you hit him."

Medusa fiercely pinched the soft flesh of Black Bolt’s palm. "Good thing Gorgon was smart enough to pick the weakest one. I don’t sense any threat from that fat man. He should be an ordinary human."

"No."

Black Bolt gripped Medusa’s hand tightly, his telepathic transmission trembling slightly. "He is the strongest one!"

Telepathic communication was countless times faster than speech.

Though they had exchanged so much, only a second had passed.

Gorgon charged up to Old Wang.

He was tall, nearly two meters, and standing before Old Wang, he appeared overwhelmingly imposing.

He was powerfully built, his entire body covered in tough muscles brimming with explosive strength. His skin was bulletproof, and he possessed several tons of force. Even if thrown into Asgard, he would not be much weaker than an ordinary soldier—certainly at the level of a stonemason or blacksmith.

He was fast and highly skilled in combat, having received the finest training. In terms of hand-to-hand fighting alone, he was only slightly inferior to Karnak and Black Bolt.

His punch

could not split mountains, but it could truly shatter stone!

In an instant, his fist was less than ten centimeters from Old Wang.

A faint smile appeared at the corner of Gorgon’s lips.

I’ve won!

He was even considering whether to hold back. He should not actually beat the man to death. His Majesty did not seem to want to start a war for the time being, so this was no time to cause trouble.

The instant that thought arose,

it was forcibly cut short.

Old Wang smiled faintly, raised his left hand, and extended his middle finger.

The pad of his finger faced inward as he lightly held it upright before Gorgon’s fist.

Then he curled it,

and flicked.

A tenth of a second later, Gorgon felt pain.

His fist hurt terribly!

At the same moment he felt the pain, he discovered that the smiling fat man was getting farther and farther away.

At first, the distance was only about a meter. Then it became five meters, ten meters, then a hundred meters.

Then farther still.

He saw the backs of Black Bolt and Medusa, and then their figures also receded into the distance.

He saw the clouds in the sky, saw the majestic Attilan, then saw the ground, along with the mud upon it and murky, filthy pools of water.

Boom!

He plunged headfirst into one of them, becoming a scallion.

An upside-down scallion.

He could see nothing, hear nothing. Before his eyes was only endless darkness.

The foul stench and mud poured into his eyes, mouth, nose, and ears.

"Gorgon!"

Karnak shouted and was about to rush over.

Then he saw Old Wang crook a finger.

An invisible giant hand seized Gorgon by the left leg and gently pulled, yanking him out along with mud and water. Then it swung him around and tossed him beside Black Bolt.

Gorgon lay flat on his back. Mud and filthy water flowed from his seven orifices as he stared blankly up at the sky, his eyes wide, pale, and vacant, questioning his life.

I, Gorgon, leader of the Royal Guard!

I was defeated by a single finger?

A hand pulled him upright.

"Pull yourself together, Gorgon!"

Karnak reprimanded him in a low voice. "It’s no big deal if you can’t beat him. You can’t beat me, you can’t beat the King, and you can’t beat the Queen! Throughout Attilan’s history, there have been plenty of people you couldn’t defeat! You can’t even beat Tetanus!"

Gorgon’s unfocused pupils slowly regained their clarity. That makes so much sense that I can hardly believe those words came from you.

And you say that like you can beat Tetanus.

Then he heard Karnak continue, "Besides, whether it’s you or me, the King or the Queen, or even the person who defeated you, we are all insignificant droplets in the river of history. In the end, the entire universe will descend into darkness. Black holes will devour all cosmic space, and every person and every event you know will be swallowed into endless nothingness. No one will be there to witness it, so no one needs to worry about it. What does it matter whether you can win or not? We will all die. Sooner or later, we will die. The important thing is which way of dying is more philosophical…"

Gorgon’s lips twitched slightly.

You really are still that Karnak nobody talks to!

Medusa drew in a sharp breath.

Though she had already known a few seconds ago that this man was strong, she had not expected him to be this strong!

Was he really an Inhuman?

Could the Terrigen Mist he absorbed during his transformation have exceeded one Crystal?

Medusa quickly dismissed the thought.

According to Attilan’s scholars, no Inhuman could absorb more Terrigen Mist than one Crystal. That was the genetically determined limit, one that could not be surpassed.

But how could this man be powerful to such an extent?

Most importantly…

Every Inhuman had genetic defects.

Why could she not see his flaw?

"Darling, we may need you to make a move and intimidate them. Can you… do it?" Though she had always had faith in her husband’s abilities, facing this dead fat man still made her uncertain.

"I…"

Black Bolt was about to speak when a voice suddenly interrupted him.

"There’s no need to make this so troublesome."

Old Wang smiled faintly. "Black Bolt, I think we can communicate directly."

The moment he finished speaking,

an ethereal, ancient mental force enveloped Black Bolt.

He instinctively tried to resist, but there was simply no time.

Everything around him changed in an instant, becoming a strange space.

This place resembled the vacuum beyond celestial bodies, a universe beyond the universe. Darkness filled every corner, and only a small area within sight was illuminated by light from an unknown source.

There was an ordinary courtyard, with five tiled houses that had stood for more than twenty years.

That slightly chubby youth appeared before him.

"This is…" Black Bolt was uncertain, suspicion rising in his mind.

"Don’t worry. You can speak freely here. I know your ability is actually the manipulation of electromagnetic energy, but believe me, unless I allow it, your electromagnetic energy cannot spread beyond this place. Because…"

Old Wang smiled calmly. "This is my Mental World!"
