Patricide
Daisy, at the Twenty Heavens level, could already read minds, so she could clearly feel how pure, selfless, and all-encompassing her father’s love for her was.
That was precisely why she was even more afraid, terrified that the father she had only just found would die again!
The newcomer swept his gaze over them and read all their memories. Realizing how anxious Daisy was, he smiled faintly. Instead of killing Carl, he casually fixed him in place with Magnetic Field Force.
"Do you want to save your father?"
"It’s simple! Trade yourself for him!"
The man revealed a demonic smile as he looked playfully at Daisy, who was struggling.
"Look, your father is willing to do anything for you. What about you? Are you willing to do anything for your father?"
"What I need is a powerful warrior. I have no use for a piece of trash like your father."
"Give up resisting and let me control you. Then I won’t kill him."
"Well?"
Carl was fixed in place and could not move at all, but he could still see, hear, and speak. He immediately screamed in terror, "Don’t agree to him! Daisy, my daughter, I’d rather die than let anyone control you!"
Daisy grew even more frantic, but she was no match for him. Even though she glared so fiercely that her eyes seemed to spit fire, she could not harm him in the slightest.
Just as the situation reached an impasse, Carl finally made up his mind. He opened his mouth, stretched out his tongue, and bit down hard.
With a wet pfft, half his tongue fell to the ground and blood gushed out. Before it could even reach the man, however, it was evaporated in midair by Magnetic Field Force.
"No! I agree! Hurry and save him!"
Daisy’s mental defenses finally broke. Crying out, she gave up resisting the thing invading her mind. Soon, that strange object burrowed deep into her brain and anchored itself in place.
At the same time, the man pointed at Carl, and Carl’s severed tongue began growing back.
After completing his control over Daisy, he released her neck and healed the injuries on her body, including her severed arm.
As soon as the control over Carl was loosened, he lunged to Daisy’s side and grabbed her. "Daisy, do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?"
"No!" Daisy smiled and hugged Carl. "I feel great! Better than ever before. It’s as if I’ve finally found where I belong!"
"And, Dad, if something like this happens again, I hope you can run farther away. Don’t make me worry!"
Carl said dejectedly, "It’s all Dad’s fault! I only held you back!"
"No, Dad, I’m not complaining that you’re weak. What I mean is… I was worried about you, all right? I don’t want you to get hurt!" Daisy hurriedly explained.
As the two of them spoke, Gordon suddenly teleported back with Jiaying. This time, however, they were not at each other’s throats. Instead, they greeted one another with smiles.
"I told you, you would all eventually submit to me!"
After Carl and Jiaying embraced, Carl felt baffled. How had they suddenly reconciled?
"Because we were meant to be a family all along. We’re all very happy now. We’ve felt joy like never before." Jiaying smiled, her eyes shining brightly.
Ever since the tragedy Jiaying had experienced back then, Carl had never seen her smile so happily as she did today.
Yet for some reason, Carl still felt that something was strange. But after examining them carefully, he found that they all seemed perfectly normal, with no signs of being controlled.
"All right, it’s time for you to take me to meet the children. I can’t wait to bring them into our big family."
"Of course. I’m sure the children will be willing to follow you as well." Jiaying smiled, then led the way toward the shelter where the Inhumans were hiding.
Carl knew Jiaying extremely well and simply could not believe that she would let the children follow someone else. The situation therefore seemed even more bizarre to him.
When Jiaying reached the shelter and called everyone out, she had them line up and walk past the strange man. Then something terrifying appeared before Carl’s eyes.
Every Inhuman showed a sense of familiarity and obedience toward this newcomer.
Carl knew there was something wrong, but he also knew they could not win in a direct confrontation. He therefore planned to play along for the moment, then find a way to break the control and rescue his wife and daughter.
But all his schemes were completely exposed before the Magnetic Field Warrior.
"All right. Bring all the Inhumans and the Terrigen Crystal and leave with me."
Jiaying immediately assigned the tasks without saying a word, sending Gordon to retrieve the Terrigen Crystal. Everything else that was useless was to be abandoned here.
Among the useless things left behind was Carl.
"I—I can work for you too. I’m a doctor, and I know a great deal about medicine…"
Carl hurriedly stammered out his advantages, hoping to leave with the Inhumans. Otherwise, he would not even know where they were, and rescuing them later would be nearly impossible.
The man glanced at him and waved at Daisy. "Kill him. That’ll save him from constantly pestering us."
After hearing this, Daisy immediately walked over to Carl. Under his incredulous gaze, she swung her palm and blasted him away.
Countless bones in Carl’s body shattered, and blood sprayed out as if it were free. It was obvious he would not survive. He collapsed onto the ground, his eyes fixed on the beloved daughter who had just struck the fatal blow, and on his wife, who watched without the slightest reaction. Unable to understand, he seemed to be asking why.
Daisy looked at her dying father on the ground and read what he was feeling at that moment. Torn, she said, "Dad, I didn’t want this either! I know you love me, and I love you too, but… who can blame me when this is my master’s order?"
The newcomer was Hive’s parasitic host. Although he had now obtained the power of the Fifty Heavens and gained the ability to control magnetic fields, this was merely his own strength. He still had no subordinates to command. Therefore, he continued to need an absolutely loyal Inhuman army.
As it happened, while communicating with other members of Hydra, he learned of the existence of this Inhuman tribe. After locating them through Steve Rogers’s phone, he came straight here.
Hive’s control over Inhumans did not affect the intelligence or personalities of those under his control. However, that control was absolute, overriding the controlled Inhuman’s own emotions.
Therefore, when Hive ordered Daisy to kill her father, she did so without hesitation. She now believed that it was right and necessary. Carrying it out did not cause her any pain.
Carl lay on the ground, blood tears streaming from his eyes. With bones shattered in multiple places, he could no longer stand. He could only watch as Hive took his beloved wife and daughter, along with a group of Inhumans, aboard a transport plane and left the Inhuman settlement.
