Peter Goes Berserk
George’s words were like a bolt from a clear blue sky, striking Peter squarely on the head and nearly knocking him to the ground.
"How is that possible?" Peter felt a chill shoot straight up from the base of his spine, instantly spreading across his back and rushing into his brain, making him shudder violently.
But when he thought it over carefully, he found that this explanation made perfect sense.
But if that was the case, didn’t everything ultimately stem from… himself?
Because he had been the one to seek out President Rogers, and only then had the president begun paying close attention to the Hydra incident. After all, Steve Rogers was Captain America, famous throughout the world for defeating Hydra.
Because the president had brought pressure to bear, S.H.I.E.L.D. had begun investigating. But Thomas had escaped, and they had failed to capture him. So S.H.I.E.L.D. had to catch other Hydra agents to avoid the president’s reproach, perhaps because of things like funding and budgets as well.
Then the various parties had seized the opportunity to stir up trouble and tear into one another, while S.H.I.E.L.D. had merely provided them with an excuse.
And George Stacy was nothing more than one of the victims caught up in all this.
Peter immediately felt dizzy and light-headed, as though he could no longer draw breath. All kinds of guilt and self-reproach filled his mind.
"No, that doesn’t make sense!" Peter suddenly spotted the problem, like a drowning man who had grasped a lifeline.
He hurriedly asked, "Why would S.H.I.E.L.D. let them mess around like that? And even if that really was the case, who did Uncle Ben and Aunt May offend? Who would want to target them?"
"How should I know? I only followed the information S.H.I.E.L.D. provided," George roared.
Just then, Peter’s phone rang. The moment he answered, Thomas’s sinister laughter came from the other end.
"Heh heh…"
"Peter, now you understand why whoever I say is Hydra becomes Hydra, right?"
"S.H.I.E.L.D. has existed for so many years. Its interior was infiltrated completely by all the Federation’s major organizations long ago. As long as I pick the right people and threaten or bribe them a little, I can get anyone to work for us. Especially when they’re busy fighting among themselves."
"So, Peter, do you still trust S.H.I.E.L.D. now?"
"Haha…"
The string in Peter’s mind snapped instantly. He hurled his phone to the ground, swept his gaze around, and fully unleashed his Magnetic Field Force, probing the surrounding area.
"Bastard!"
"Where are you?"
"Come out!"
Peter roared loudly, trying to drag Thomas out of hiding.
The surroundings were deathly silent. None of the neighbors dared to come out, and some had even called the police. But Peter searched every inch of several miles around and still failed to find the Hydra agent spying on him from the shadows.
George simply stood there coldly, watching Peter go berserk.
Inside the bedroom behind him, Gwen was leaning against the door, her body limp as she slumped to the floor. Tears streamed freely from her tightly closed eyes. Mrs. Stacy sat on the floor beside her, holding her hand, her face filled with sorrow and helplessness.
Although they still did not know that Ben Parker was dead, they knew that the relationship between Gwen and Peter was over!
After shouting in impotent rage for a while, Peter collapsed weakly to his knees, clutching his head and wailing.
One blow after another had finally pushed his spirit to the limit. He had broken down.
He hated George Stacy for betraying Uncle Ben to protect himself.
He hated S.H.I.E.L.D. even more. It was supposed to be an organization that protected world peace, yet it had become a tool for others to fight over power, betraying the trust he had placed in it.
But he hated himself most of all!
He hated himself for being naive and believing S.H.I.E.L.D.’s high-sounding lies!
He hated himself for being useless. He had known Uncle Ben was being framed, yet he had been powerless to save him!
He hated himself for being weak. He clearly possessed the power to flip the board over, yet he had insisted on following the rules, obediently letting others toy with him!
I hate it!
I hate it so much!!
I hate it so much!!!
"Ah…"
Amid Peter’s anguished, suppressed howls, the Magnetic Field Force within his body began spinning wildly. In an instant, it broke through the bottleneck of the Tenth Heaven and continued rising at a furious pace.
Fifteen Heavens!
Twenty Heavens!
Twenty-Five Heavens!
In the vast sea of stars, somewhere beyond the reach of mortal perception, a planet seemed to shatter with a thunderous boom.
Peter Parker had achieved Star Shattering!
His fate would be changed forever from this moment onward!
That failed man was gone forever!
At the same time as he achieved Star Shattering, Ancient One sighed in a distant dimension and began to feel a headache coming on.
After venting his emotions, Peter rose from the spot. With a casual sweep of his gaze, he read the memories of everyone nearby.
From George Stacy’s mind, he saw everything that had happened. George had not lied.
From Gwen behind the door, he also learned how deeply she loved him. But fate had played a cruel trick on them, leaving them destined to miss one another.
Peter wiped the tears from his face and turned to leave.
He could not let S.H.I.E.L.D. toy with him for nothing!
Uncle Ben could not have died an unjust death!
S.H.I.E.L.D. had to pay the price!
The moment he left the neighborhood, a car pulled up beside him. The window rolled down, revealing Thomas’s smug expression.
"Peter, I told you, you were born to be Hydra! Want to take revenge on S.H.I.E.L.D.? We can help you!"
Peter was in the midst of an emotional maelstrom. He had already thrown Uncle Ben’s instructions to the back of his mind, and he was just about to agree when he habitually swept through Thomas’s memories. What he discovered was a shocking secret!
S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra were actually one and the same!
Damn it!
What his master had said back then was all true!
The fury Peter had just vented immediately flared up again. Especially when he thought of John Garrett always putting on the appearance of a kind and friendly elder, he could not help but burn with rage.
Whenever he thought of how foolish and naive he had been in the past, Peter felt an urge to die!
"You bastard!"
"Go to hell!"
Peter raised his hand and brought it down, smashing Thomas and the car he was sitting in into a meat patty. The blow also opened a deep pit in the ground, saving him the trouble of burying the body.
The pedestrians nearby were terrified. They scattered in all directions, calling the police and emergency services.
After killing Thomas, Peter still felt his anger had not been fully vented. He rose into the air and flew straight toward S.H.I.E.L.D.
All his past words and actions now passed through Peter’s mind one after another. Things he had once considered perfectly natural now felt like knives, viciously cutting into his heart.
The moment he thought of how he had once worked in a place so filthy and corrupt, trusted them so completely, and even urged Gwen to trust them as well, hatred surged within him.
The darker S.H.I.E.L.D. was, the more Peter hated himself.
How could I have been so stupid!
How could I have been so naive!!
How could I have been so ignorant!!!
What a useless piece of trash!
Peter Parker, you’re a fucking useless piece of trash!
Uncle Ben died because of you!
Peter Parker, why the hell wasn’t the one who died… you! Why!
