Piano and Flute Melodies, the Scheme Begins

Su Yu glanced over the score and committed it all to memory. Then he immediately played it once for Huang Laoxie.

Huang Laoxie was instantly speechless. "Shao Tian, if you’re this incredible, you’ll make your father feel inferior."

Su Yu said with a grin, "Dad, it’s fine. No matter how incredible I am, I’m still your son!"

Huang Laoxie smiled and stroked his sparse beard. "That’s true. Since you can play the tune now, I’ll begin teaching you the intricacies of the Blue Sea Tide Song and how to use internal energy."

All morning, Huang Laoxie explained the methods of using the Blue Sea Tide Song to Su Yu. Every note required different internal energy and had strict requirements; otherwise, it would not achieve the effect of disrupting one’s mind.

That afternoon, Huang Laoxie went back, leaving Su Yu alone to explore the Blue Sea Tide Song. Su Yu’s talent was no joke. Before long, he had completely mastered the Blue Sea Tide Song. However, with no one to test it on, he had no idea how effective it truly was.

Whooo…

Holding the flute, Su Yu began playing a melody. It was not the Blue Sea Tide Song, but a new tune. Listening closely, one would notice that its rhythm was extremely similar to the Origin Nurturing Heart Calming Melody.

When the song ended, Su Yu closed his eyes to feel its effects, and delight appeared on his face. "Just as I thought, instruments are interchangeable. Playing the Origin Nurturing Heart Calming Melody with a different instrument produces the same effect. In that case, I’ll mainly use the flute from now on. After all, my zithers are far too powerful."

Overjoyed by the successful experiment, Su Yu returned home. Seeing him come back, Huang Laoxie smiled and asked, "Shao Tian, how did it go? Did you learn it?"

Su Yu nodded with a smile. "I’ve learned it, and I even developed another tune with a different effect."

"What? Shao Tian, are you serious? You’re not lying to me?" Huang Laoxie asked, utterly bewildered.

Su Yu waved his hand. "Dad, why would I lie to you?"

Huang Laoxie said excitedly, "Quick, quick! Play it for your mother and me."

Su Yu nodded. "Alright."

Then Su Yu’s small hands held the jade-green Jade Flute, and the sound of the flute rang out.

Whooo, whooo, whooo…

The flute melody reached Huang Laoxie and Feng Heng’s ears, and their hearts immediately calmed. Even Huang Laoxie’s originally excited mood settled down.

When the tune ended, Huang Laoxie exclaimed, "A monster, truly a monster! With this tune assisting them, it would be hard for anyone to suffer cultivation deviation even if they tried!"

Su Yu smiled. "Dad, my tune isn’t that simple."

Huang Laoxie paused and asked, "Oh? Does this tune have other effects besides calming the mind?"

Su Yu nodded with a smile, then looked at Feng Heng. Huang Laoxie turned his puzzled gaze toward her.

Seeing Su Yu look at her, Feng Heng said, "When I heard this tune, not only did my heart feel very calm, but my belly felt exceptionally comfortable too… Could it be that your tune is beneficial to the child in my womb, Shao Tian?"

Su Yu nodded with a grin. "Hehe, Mom, you really are smart. That’s right. This tune is called the Origin Nurturing Heart Calming Melody. It has two effects: nurturing one’s foundation and calming the heart. As long as I play it for you every day from now on, I believe that the little brother or little sister in your belly will become an extraordinary genius in the future!"

In the original story, Huang Rong had already been exceptionally intelligent and gifted. Now, with Su Yu’s Origin Nurturing Heart Calming Melody as well, once Huang Rong was born, she would surely become an unparalleled genius rarely seen once in ten thousand years in this martial world.

"A monster, an absolute monster!" Huang Laoxie exclaimed. "Shao Tian, remember to come play this tune for your mother every day from now on."

"Mm, I understand." Su Yu nodded in agreement.

Several months later

On a rooftop, Su Yu stared coldly at a room. Over the past few days, he had discovered that Chen Xuanfeng and Mei Chaofeng had begun plotting to steal the Nine Yin Manual. As for these two people who would one day cause Feng Heng’s death, Su Yu absolutely would not let them go.

However, it was not ideal to strike directly just yet. After all, there was no evidence that they intended to steal the Nine Yin Manual. It would also be difficult to explain to Huang Laoxie if he simply killed them. So Su Yu had been waiting for them to make their move.

That day, Su Yu learned that the two were preparing to act. He had now entered the Innate realm. Though he stood on the roof, as long as he wanted to, he could hear every sound from the room below with perfect clarity.

Su Yu heard them discussing how they would steal the Nine Yin Manual that night. After hearing this, he turned and left. To catch thieves, one had to catch them in the act. Su Yu went to Huang Laoxie’s door and woke him up, then the two of them came to the roof of the room where the Nine Yin Manual was kept.

Ever since Su Yu had said that he would only learn Peach Blossom Island’s martial arts and had no interest in martial arts from elsewhere, Huang Laoxie had become much less concerned about it and casually tossed the Nine Yin Manual into Peach Blossom Island’s Library Pavilion.

Huang Laoxie looked at Su Yu in confusion. "Shao Tian, why did you call me here in the middle of the night?"

"Dad, just wait." Su Yu did not explain. No amount of explanation could compare to letting Huang Laoxie see it with his own eyes.

Before long, Chen Xuanfeng and Mei Chaofeng furtively arrived at the entrance of the Library Pavilion. Huang Laoxie vaguely understood why Su Yu had called him over. In a cold voice, he said, "Sneaking around the Library Pavilion in the middle of the night—what are those two trying to do?"

Su Yu sneered as well. "They’re definitely trying to steal some martial arts manual they’ve set their hearts on!"

Hearing this, Huang Laoxie immediately remembered the Nine Yin Manual inside the Library Pavilion. His expression instantly darkened. "I raised them, taught them martial arts, and this is what I get in return! From today onward, I, Huang Laoxie, will never take another disciple!"

Huang Laoxie was so angry that he swore never to accept disciples again. It was clear just how furious he was. The disciples who spent every day with him were actually willing to betray him for the sake of a manual. How could he not be angry?

He was one of the Five Greats, after all. If Su Yu had not discovered the two’s little scheme beforehand, they truly would have stolen the Nine Yin Manual. The more Huang Laoxie thought about it, the angrier he became. He even wanted to expel his other disciples from the sect as well.

Chen Xuanfeng and Mei Chaofeng did not notice Su Yu and Huang Laoxie on the roof. They entered the Library Pavilion directly and went to the bookshelf where the Nine Yin Manual was placed. Upon seeing it, they immediately took it down, their faces filled with delight and smiles.

At that moment, a voice they least wished to hear rang out. "What are you doing?!"

That voice, like the Grim Reaper from hell, instantly made their hearts turn cold.

Ahem, ahem. It has been far too long since I last updated, and I’m honestly ashamed of myself… I’ll do my best to update at least a little every week. I only get Sunday afternoon off each week, so that’s when I have the most time.
