Rescue

Wang Bert was about to speak when another call came in. It was the president.

"Mr. Wang, the Evil Believers have appeared. Only you can save America."

The president’s voice was extremely anxious. The number of Evil Believers far exceeded his expectations. If this went badly, he might be forced from office today.

"Mr. President, I’ll act immediately. If anything comes up, contact Hank. He’ll oversee the command."

Wang Bert hung up and said to Hank, "Hank, have the X-Men return to provide support. I’ll rescue people first. Yuriko, stay here and organize the intelligence. Also, gather the Security Team."

"Okay."

Yuriko and Hank nodded at the same time. Saving people came first; everything else could wait.

Wang Bert wasted no time. He teleported to Psylocke and Angel Warren, then transported them with him to Green County.

The streets of Green County had already become Hell, with blood and corpses everywhere. Psylocke and Warren’s eyes turned red on the spot. They wanted nothing more than to tear those Evil Believers to pieces immediately.

Wang Bert glanced at the believers, then turned to Psylocke and asked, "Psylocke, can you handle this alone?"

Psylocke said through gritted teeth, "Yes. Leave it to me. I’ll kill every last one of them."

Wang Bert nodded and teleported Warren to another county.

Before Wang Bert could speak, Warren took the initiative. "Boss, leave this county to me. Go protect the others."

"Okay. Be careful."

Wang Bert nodded, left Warren behind, and headed for Bloom County.

On streets covered in blood and corpses, Evil Believers were firing wildly and slaughtering civilians. They never noticed Wang Bert appearing out of thin air. Wang Bert could not be bothered with nonsense. With a raise of his hand, three Evil Believers were teleported high into the sky, then fell with three loud bangs and became piles of mangled flesh.

Those bastards had no right to live.

A fleeing civilian recognized Wang Bert and shouted excitedly, "Iron Man is here!"

"Iron Man is here?"

The other civilians all turned around. When they saw Wang Bert, they could not help bursting into tears of joy. Iron Man had come to save them. They were saved.

Unlike the civilians, the Evil Believers were terrified. At that moment, their leader, the man in the wheelchair, roared, "What are you afraid of? No matter how powerful he is, he’s only one man. Besides, we have God behind us."

"My God is eternal!"

The Evil Believers shouted as they fired madly at Wang Bert. Bullets formed a dense barrage as they raced toward him.

Wang Bert waved a hand, and every bullet vanished. Then, the bullets appeared behind the Evil Believers and shot into their bodies with sharp whooshes.

"Argh! Argh…"

The Evil Believers screamed and fell one after another. Only the wheelchair-bound man was fast enough to barely dodge the bullets.

"How is this possible? Iron Man is actually this powerful?"

The man in the wheelchair was scared out of his mind, trembling where he sat. Wang Bert had no intention of wasting words. He raised a finger, and the man appeared high in the sky. Moments later, there was another pile of mangled flesh on the street.

I chose wrong. That was the wheelchair man’s final thought. Even a god could not withstand Iron Man.

"Iron Man!"

The survivors cheered. As expected of Iron Man—he was incredible. Those terrifying Evil Believers could not even last a minute in front of him.

"Everyone, help rescue the injured. The police and ambulances will be here soon."

Wang Bert shouted loudly. The civilians nodded, and many came over to thank him, but Wang Bert had no time to waste. He nodded to them, walked to the side, and called Yuriko.

"Yuriko, where’s next?"

"The next location is in New Jersey."

Yuriko gave him a location, then continued, "Boss, many states haven’t asked us for help. It should be related to the military."

"Related to the military?"

"Over the past half month, the military secretly deployed soldiers to cities across the country. Now those soldiers are driving armored vehicles and assault vehicles to the places where the Evil Believers are causing trouble."

Yuriko said, "The military wants to restore its reputation by suppressing the Evil Believers."

"They’re not just restoring their reputation. They’re proving themselves. Only then can they regain the public’s support."

Wang Bert smiled. The military was not stupid. They knew exactly what their foundation was.

A soldier’s most basic duty was to protect the country and its people!

"Let them do it. We’ll save the states that asked us for help first. By the way, how are the X-Men doing?"

Yuriko said helplessly, "Storm and the others want to withdraw, but Human Torch refuses. He’s setting fires everywhere around them, so Storm and the others have no choice but to stay and deal with him first."

"Let them handle it."

Wang Bert shook his head. The X-Men were too softhearted. If he were over there, Human Torch would already be a pile of mangled flesh.

Wang Bert was about to leave when Yuriko suddenly said, "Boss, a train has lost control. It’ll fall off a cliff in three minutes. The president asks you to rescue the people on the train first."

Wang Bert frowned and asked, "Three minutes? Yuriko, has the Security Team assembled?"

"They’ve assembled. Wade is leading them. Also, White Queen said she has no interest in getting involved in this."

"I’m not surprised in the slightest."

Wang Bert shook his head and teleported straight to the Security Company. Then, smiling at the Security Team dressed in Rebirth Group uniforms, he asked, "Ready to save America?"

"Always ready."

Wade, wearing the "Modified Deadpool skin," answered with a smile. The others nodded as well, looking rather excited.

"Then let’s move out immediately."

Wang Bert nodded in satisfaction. He sent the Security Team to five battlefields that needed them, while he teleported onto the train himself.

The train was in chaos. A group of men were desperately trying to smash open the cab door. Wang Bert smiled and said, "Gentlemen, mind if I take over?"

"Iron Man!"

Everyone turned. When they saw Wang Bert, they froze for a moment before shouting in delight.

"Don’t worry, everyone. Two minutes is enough for me to get all of you out five times. Five times, you know."

Wang Bert smiled, teleported into the cab, and the passengers excitedly ran back to the carriages to spread the good news.

The beautiful female conductor nearby shook her head, picked up the intercom, and said sweetly, "Passengers, I have good news for everyone. Iron Man has come to save us."

"Iron Man is here?"

The train fell silent for a moment, then everyone erupted in cheers. With Iron Man here, they would definitely survive this disaster.

Inside the cab, the driver was controlling the train as it accelerated wildly. His face was full of fanaticism and excitement. Sending an entire trainload of people to their deaths would surely earn him a great reward from God.

"Due to time constraints, please die immediately. Thank you!"

Wang Bert said. The driver was horrified when he saw him and was just about to do something when Wang Bert waved a hand. The driver appeared high in the sky and began free-falling.

Wang Bert then inspected the train and discovered that the driver had destroyed the braking system. In other words, the train could not stop.

"There’s too little time. Even if it could stop, it wouldn’t help much."

Wang Bert shook his head, opened the door, and ran toward the carriages. The passengers were about to cheer when Wang Bert waved his hand and transferred them outside.

Then, Wang Bert transferred the passengers one carriage at a time. A minute later, everyone had been moved outside. Immediately afterward, the train smashed through the barrier and plunged into the cliff below.

"Why was the track built beside a cliff?"

Wang Bert complained. A bespectacled man said, "Because of geographical changes…"

"I was just asking. Everyone, call the police. I still have a plane to save."

Wang Bert smiled. Everyone nodded, and many shouted, "Thank you, Iron Man! Thank you for saving us!"

"My pleasure."

Wang Bert gave a gentleman’s bow and vanished in an instant. When he appeared again, he was already inside an airplane.

Leaving Wang Bert aside as he rescued people everywhere, let us turn our attention back to the Manhattan police station. Through Human Torch’s "hard work," the entire street had been engulfed in raging flames. Yet Human Torch was not satisfied. He kept controlling the fire, spreading it farther into the surrounding area.

Human Torch wanted to burn down all of Manhattan. He wanted everyone to know the consequences of offending him.

He, Human Torch, was not human. He was a god, the God of Fire! "That guy’s gone crazy."

Astra could not help cursing. The other mutants nodded in agreement. They had wanted to leave long ago, but Human Torch refused to go. Left with no choice, they could only remain and keep fighting the X-Men. After all, their mission this time was to rescue Human Torch.

Storm and the others wanted to stop Human Torch, but with the Brotherhood in the way, they could not do so. Storm was furious and shocked. How had Human Torch become so vicious? Meanwhile, the Professor sighed in Quicksilver’s mind. "Pietro, are you really going to help Human Torch continue harming innocent civilians?"

"Of course not, Professor. Let me go back. I’ll take that scumbag Human Torch away."

Quicksilver cursed, "That guy makes me sick. I’m going to beat him up properly."

"Pietro, I’m leaving it to you."

The Professor was delighted to hear that and returned control of the body to Quicksilver. Quicksilver was somewhat surprised. "Professor, aren’t you afraid I won’t keep my word?"

"Pietro, you’ve never been a bad person. I believe in you."

"Right. Even though I steal every day, even though I peep every day, I really am not a bad person."

Quicksilver cheered and raced toward the police station at full speed. The Professor blinked. Can I take back what I just said?

Soon, Quicksilver returned to the police station. Without wasting words, he rushed behind Human Torch and knocked him unconscious with one blow from his baton. Then he stopped nearby and shouted to Storm, "Truce! Hurry up and go save the world. We won’t stop you."

Astra could not help complaining, "You brat finally decided to come back? Don’t tell me you went to eat lunch."

"You think I wanted to? I ran three laps around Manhattan and wore out my shoes. Nike limited edition. I borrowed them from Azazel."

Quicksilver rolled his eyes and said, "We’re retreating. No problem, right?"

"No problem. I’ve wanted to leave for ages. It’s hot as Hell."

Astra did not waste words. He slung Human Torch over his shoulder and prepared to withdraw. "Sabretooth, we’re leaving."

Sabretooth ignored Astra and continued fighting Wolverine in a bloody battle. The longer he fought Wolverine, the more memories surfaced in his mind. He vaguely remembered that he had known Wolverine before, in a way that had been etched into his bones.

When Sabretooth did not move, Astra shouted, "Sabretooth, Magneto told you to listen to me."

Sabretooth roared at Astra in displeasure. After hesitating for a moment, he turned and ran toward Astra. Wolverine was fighting with rising excitement and was about to chase after him when Storm shouted, "Logan, don’t chase them. There are more important things."

Wolverine, covered in blood, cursed, "Lucky bastard."

Soon, under the watchful eyes of Storm and the others, Astra’s group disappeared around the street corner. Storm breathed a sigh of relief and called to Officer George, who was putting out the fire, "Officer George, we’ll send Iceman over to help you extinguish the flames."

Officer George said, "Okay. Hurry and deal with those damned Evil Believers."

"Mm."

Storm nodded and said to Nightcrawler, "Kurt, take us to the Mutant Affairs Management Department. Then return to the academy and bring Iceman here."

"Okay."

Nightcrawler did not waste words and immediately did as instructed.

At the Mutant Affairs Management Department, Hank was overjoyed when he saw Storm and the others arrive. "You’re finally here. Huh, why did Kurt leave?"

Storm asked, "He went to get Iceman. Hank, how’s the situation?"

"It’s terrible."

Hank said, "Evil Believers are everywhere. No time to talk. Once Kurt gets back, you’ll depart immediately. Let’s divide into groups now."

"Okay."

Storm and the others did not waste words. They split into groups according to Hank’s instructions. Shortly afterward, Nightcrawler returned and began taking everyone out for rescue operations.

In a small town in Montana, a lieutenant colonel watched the imposing armored vehicles on the screen with a smug expression. "The Evil Believers are nothing special. If mutants can deal with them, so can our military."

"Mutants may be decent in individual fights, but in large-scale warfare, it still comes down to us in the military."

Another officer said, "America’s protectors have never been mutants. They are us."

"That’s right."

Everyone in the command room nodded. The lieutenant colonel said, "This time, we’ll let all of America know who its true protectors are. The Evil Believers that mutants call a massive threat are nothing but ants before our military."

These officers were so confident not because they were arrogantly overestimating themselves. At that moment on the Frontlines, the Evil Believers had suffered severe losses under the powerful firepower of armored vehicles and assault vehicles. The remaining ones were hiding inside nearby buildings like rats, not daring to come out at all.

"Those damned Evil Believers, I’m going to tear them to pieces."

The frontline commander looked at the corpses all over the ground, his face dark with rage. He shouted to the assembled soldiers, "Are you ready, soldiers? I can’t wait to see those rats’ corpses. Hear me clearly: corpses."

"Ready!"

The soldiers roared, their eyes full of killing intent. Those Evil Believers did not deserve to live.

"Very good."

The commander nodded and was about to order the attack when a massive explosion suddenly erupted beneath an armored vehicle. The entire vehicle was blasted into the air before crashing down with a boom, crushing a nearby car flat.

Immediately afterward, several "corpses" sprang up from the ground and leaped onto the assault vehicles, swiftly knocking the soldiers to the ground.

That was not all. Those "corpses" turned the machine guns on the assault vehicles and sprayed the assembled soldiers with bullets. The soldiers suffered heavy losses and hurriedly fled in all directions.
