Sabretooth’s Clone (Please Read On)
Just like before, the system’s description was as brief as ever.
However, it was enough for Richard to know that the Dimension Slash he had acquired was no different from the one he remembered.
First, the most obvious point was that he did not have Yamato.
Second, when using Yamato to perform Dimension Slash, he would draw the blade in a flash and sheath it stylishly, just like when performing a standard Iai Slash.
Since he now possessed Masamune rather than Yamato, he did not need to use an Iai Slash stance to perform Dimension Slash.
Judging from the system’s description, he only needed to swing his sword directly, just as he did when using skills like Octaslash and Earth Shake.
Finally, since Masamune did not possess Yamato’s ability to cut through space, the Dimension Slash he could currently perform might be somewhat weaker.
He could not be completely certain yet.
Only after obtaining Yamato and performing Dimension Slash with both Yamato and Masamune would he be able to confirm it.
However, even if the Dimension Slash performed with Masamune was somewhat weaker than one performed with Yamato, it was still not an attack just anyone could withstand.
In games, because health bars existed, enemies’ bodies could remain intact no matter what attacks they suffered, as long as their health had not run out.
But this was not a game.
Forget the continuous slashes of Dimension Slash—even an ordinary cut from Masamune would leave an enemy missing arms and legs if it passed through their body.
After closing the Information Panel visible only to him, Richard returned Masamune to the System Space and walked over to Clarice and Sabretooth.
Then, he said to Clarice,
"Make a Spatial Gate out of here."
"Mm-hmm!"
Clarice nodded and immediately created a Spatial Gate one meter wide and over two meters tall.
When Richard saw the Spatial Gate Clarice had created, a thought suddenly flashed through his mind.
If he Plundered her superpower, perhaps it could strengthen Dimension Slash!
Clarice’s superpower was a very typical spatial ability.
While it lacked much direct offensive power and could only be used to teleport people and objects, or cut enemies by closing Spatial Gates, it was undeniably a spatial ability.
And Dimension Slash happened to be a spatial-type skill.
Since an ice-based superpower could strengthen the skill Great Blizzard, Clarice’s superpower should also be able to strengthen Dimension Slash.
Should he Plunder her superpower? Richard unconsciously looked toward Clarice.
Her delicate, fair oval face, her gentle and pitiable aura, her clear yet foolish eyes…
Clarice had no idea what Richard was thinking, and a puzzled expression appeared on her face.
Forget it!
He should look for other mutants with spatial abilities!
In the end, Richard gave up on the idea of Plundering Clarice’s superpower.
Mutants with spatial abilities were rare, but if he looked carefully, he could still find some.
Since he had other options, there was no need to destroy such a lovely thing!
Under Clarice’s gaze, Richard stepped through the Spatial Gate and arrived on a small hill twenty kilometers away.
Only after he had passed through the Spatial Gate did Sabretooth and Clarice follow him through it.
Since Richard had only told her to create a Spatial Gate out of the RV Camp without giving a specific destination, Clarice had pushed her ability to its current limit.
Even at her limit, the farthest she could teleport was only around twenty kilometers.
Sabretooth was a competent adoptive father, but not a competent teacher.
After Clarice closed the Spatial Gate, Richard asked Clarice and Sabretooth,
"How did you get captured?"
Hearing his question, Sabretooth immediately explained.
"After you left, Clarice and I talked it over and decided to go to the School for Mutants."
"We got hold of a car and planned to drive there."
"But the next morning, agents from the Department of Mutant Affairs found us, and then we were captured."
Drive to the School for Mutants? Richard frowned slightly after hearing Sabretooth’s explanation.
Then, he asked Clarice,
"What is the maximum distance of the Spatial Gates you can create now?"
"How many maximum-distance Spatial Gates can you create in a day?"
Without any hesitation, Clarice replied, "The current maximum distance is around twenty kilometers. I can create at most ten at that distance in a day."
Only two hundred kilometers a day at most?
Her ability was far too underdeveloped! Richard clearly remembered that in the comics, Clarice’s effective teleportation range extended between the moon and Earth.
Put simply, that was 380,000 kilometers.
Although Clarice in the movies was nowhere near as strong as her comic counterpart, she should still have been much stronger than the current Clarice.
At the very least, movie Clarice was already highly proficient at using Spatial Gates in combat.
But the current Clarice…
"Do you know how far Los Angeles is from New York?"
Richard asked Sabretooth.
"Over two thousand kilometers, I think?"
Sabretooth answered uncertainly.
"Three thousand five hundred kilometers!"
"Even if you drove five hundred kilometers a day, it would still take you a week to reach the School for Mutants."
"I’m becoming more and more curious about what this so-called private matter of yours is. What could make you decide to send Clarice to the School for Mutants even if it meant crossing the entire United States?"
Richard had not been particularly interested before, but now his interest was piqued.
Sabretooth did not answer immediately and fell silent.
More than ten seconds later, he finally said, "Clones. Someone made clones of me, and there’s more than one!"
What? Both Richard and Clarice revealed surprised expressions.
Clarice was surprised because Sabretooth had never told her about this.
Richard was surprised because he thought of Little Wolf Girl Laura from the movie Logan, as well as X-24, who looked exactly like Wolverine.
"Have you seen your clones with your own eyes, or did you hear about them from someone else?"
Richard asked with a frown.
Sabretooth did not answer his question and fell silent.
Seeing that Sabretooth had no intention of revealing much more, Richard shrugged and said casually,
"If you don’t want to talk about it, forget it."
"Here’s a little advice. If you really intend to send Clarice to the School for Mutants, you don’t need to go to New York yourselves. Just give them a call."
"While you may not be a law-abiding citizen, the X-Men still remember you quite well."
"Also, the X-Men should be very interested in someone making mutant clones."
"You only need to call and tell them about it. They’ll most likely come looking for you on their own."
