Seal
Looking at the deadlocked battlefield, Elektra nodded in satisfaction. "Good. Master’s efforts all these years weren’t wasted. Both Thanos armies have been held back."
Wanda also breathed a sigh of relief. Looking at Wang Bert, who still had not returned to normal, she asked worriedly, "Sister Elektra, will Bert be alright?"
With fanaticism written all over her face, Elektra said, "Trust Master. He is invincible. Even death cannot take his life."
"Your little maid has a great deal of faith in you."
Within Wang Bert’s consciousness, Death smiled at him. "Knowing that I am Death, she still believes you will win."
Death had an incredibly voluptuous figure, yet her head was a skull, making her look extremely bizarre.
In truth, that was merely Death’s outer appearance. Only those acknowledged by Death could see her true form.
Wang Bert had not been acknowledged. Looking at the skull, he said, "Everyone who knows me has great faith in me. After all, I’ve never lost."
"Never lost? Young man, how many years have you even lived?"
Death covered her mouth and chuckled. "Although the Infinity Stones have protected your life, my Thanos will soon reach you and end you completely."
"To be honest, I never expected you to act personally."
Wang Bert sighed. "I got a little carried away."
"In the original universe, I was indeed restricted and could not act freely."
Death admitted, "But in this universe, I have nothing to worry about. At worst, this mass of Death Power will be destroyed. My true body will not suffer any harm."
"That is true."
Wang Bert said, "There’s no point arguing over victory or defeat. You have faith in Thanos, and I have faith in the Super Heroes.
Death, it wasn’t easy for us to meet. Let’s have a chat."
Death smiled. "Sure. What do you want to talk about?"
"Your plan to wipe out half the life in the universe."
Wang Bert asked, "Why do you want to do this? Are you bored, or do you want to increase your power? I heard that the more people die, the stronger you become."
"No. I am fulfilling my duty."
Death said, "Gods are the managers of the universe. Every god has duties that must be fulfilled. We cannot slack off."
"Fulfilling your duty?"
Wang Bert was puzzled. "That can’t be right. Your duty should be to ensure the natural deaths of all living beings, not slaughter them and actively create death."
"It is not that simple. The meaning of death is to maintain Universe Balance."
Death shook her head. "Over the past several thousand years, the universe has developed rapidly. The number of living beings has far exceeded what the universe can bear. If this continues, the universe will eventually be destroyed. That is why I sent Thanos to fulfill his duty: kill half, leave half, and drastically reduce the life in the universe."
"The problem is that this is meaningless. According to mathematical models, populations can double very easily. It would not even take a hundred years."
Wang Bert said, "In other words, even if Thanos successfully snaps his fingers, it would only maintain balance for a few decades. After that, the population would explode again."
Death laughed. "Do you think Thanos and I do not understand such a simple mathematical model?"
"Yes, that is exactly what I think."
Wang Bert nodded. "In my opinion, Thanos has a screw loose, and so do you."
"You are the first person who has dared to speak to me like that."
Death smiled. "I am not that foolish. Intelligent life possesses emotions. If half the population suddenly vanishes, the entire universe will fall into grief and desolation. Under those circumstances, the population will naturally decrease drastically.
More importantly, all living beings will remember this lesson. They will obediently control their numbers to prevent population expansion and another crisis in the universe.
Simply put, this is a lesson, one that will make all living beings behave. Only pain can make people understand reason and teach them to cherish what they have."
"I see. Uh, I think I’ve seen that idea in some comic."
Looking at Death, Wang Bert asked, "Lady Death, isn’t half of all life too high a price for one lesson?"
Death asked, "You play computer games, don’t you?"
Wang Bert complained, "It feels really strange hearing the word ‘computer’ come from your mouth."
Death said, "I am a Creator God, not some antique. I understand technology better than you, a high school student."
"I’m a college student. I have a degree."
Wang Bert said unhappily, while inwardly growing slightly tense. Death actually knew he had been a high school student? This woman had been spying on him all along.
Thinking about it, that made sense. He was so dashing, so high-profile, so outstanding. Death could not possibly have remained indifferent.
"A degree bought with money?"
Death sneered. "When you play strategy games, do you care whether those NPCs live or die? I know what you want to say, but in my eyes, all living beings are no different from NPCs."
"That is why I do not want to become a god."
Wang Bert said, "Once you become a god, you are no longer human."
"Gods are inherently above all others."
Death said calmly, "Blood God, I am fulfilling my duty and saving the universe. That is why the other Creator Gods have not stopped me. For the greater good, you should give up resisting.
If you are willing to surrender, I can grant you the position of a subordinate god. From then on, you will be my subordinate god, enjoying endless life and supreme glory alongside me."
Wang Bert smiled. "Are you trying to buy me off?"
"Blood God, do you know how many people want to become my subordinate god?"
Death said, "This is the best opportunity of your life."
"I’m a little tempted."
Wang Bert suddenly asked, "Do you lack confidence in Thanos? Otherwise, why would you try to buy me off?"
Death said, "I have complete confidence in him. Do not forget, there are two Thanoses. That means there are two masses of Death Power."
"No wonder Thanos resurrected. You two really do think alike."
Wang Bert said, "Looks like I have to deal with you quickly. Otherwise, they might not be able to hold on."
"Deal with me? Blood God, aren’t you being a little too arrogant?"
Death smiled. "I am Death."
"I know, but I am the Blood God."
With a thought from Wang Bert, the Space Stone detached from the Infinity Gauntlet and merged into his body. Then, the Space Stone drew upon the power of the other stones and gradually sealed away the Death Power.
Death was stunned. "You swallowed the Space Stone?"
"That’s right. You have your trump cards, so naturally I have mine."
Wang Bert smiled. "Although I’ve been a little carried away lately, I have never been the type to take risks."
"Interesting."
Death was not angered. She asked, "Blood God, do you truly intend to give up the opportunity I offered you?"
Wang Bert said, "Lady Death, I am human. I have never wanted to become a god."
"You will regret it soon enough."
Death shook her head. "Although you have sealed the Death Power, you can no longer use the Infinity Stones because of it. Without the Infinity Stones, how will you resist the other mass of Death Power?"
Wang Bert shrugged. "There will always be a way. If worse comes to worst, I’ll make a little sacrifice. I’m only a clone anyway. It’s no big deal if I die."
"If you accept my terms, I can turn you into an independent individual."
Death said, "That would not be difficult for me."
"Death, you truly are a good woman who understands a man’s heart. If it were anyone else, they would have surrendered to you on the spot."
Wang Bert smiled. "But I am different. My original body is handsome and dashing, knowledgeable and talented, well-read and experienced, accomplished in both literature and martial arts, and blessed with great ambition… I will not betray such a perfect original body."
"Your skin is truly thick."
Even Death was a little speechless. She said, "Forget it. I will wait here for you to walk into death. When that time comes, you will beg me."
"Don’t be like that. Let’s chat for another five cents’ worth."
Wang Bert smiled. "Talk a little longer. Maybe you’ll discover my charm, and then everything will be easy to settle. For the sake of all life in the universe, I’d be happy to sacrifice myself. I can be a pretty boy too."
"You make it sound so real. Hmph. Even if I truly took a liking to you, I would not abandon my duty."
Death sneered. "Because I am part of the universe. Abandoning my duty would be the same as abandoning myself."
"That’s fine. Just go easy on me when the time comes. I know someone named Phoenix. Even after turning evil, she still went easy on her own man."
Wang Bert said, "By the way, how far have you and Thanos progressed? You haven’t just been stringing him along this whole time, have you? If so, I really might pursue you…"
While Wang Bert was talking nonsense with Death, all the Death Power within his body was sealed inside the Space Stone. Then, the Space Stone returned to the Infinity Gauntlet. All Six Infinity Stones lit up at once, jointly suppressing the Death Power.
Wang Bert let out a sigh of relief and absorbed Space Energy to rapidly recover his body. Before long, he would regain his fighting strength.
The only regret was that, because of the Death Power, Wang Bert’s Infinity Gauntlet could not be used—for now. Once the Death Power was completely cleared away, the Infinity Stones would return to normal.
The power of a Creator God truly is formidable.
Wang Bert silently sighed. In truth, Thanos had mainly chosen his timing well. If Wang Bert had been in normal condition, the Death Power would never have left him in such a miserable state while he possessed all Six Infinity Stones.
There is still another mass of Death Power. Thanos has not used it yet, so he must be saving it for me. I must deal with it carefully.
Wang Bert’s eyes flashed. Fortunately, I still have quite a few trump cards.
On the battlefield, Thanos sent Fat Thor flying with a slash. Both he and Fat Thor were gasping heavily—the battle had been too intense, and both were somewhat exhausted.
"Thanos, I can keep fighting you all day."
Steve, his face covered in blood, gripped Thor’s Hammer and shouted. Future Steve even asked Fat Thor, "Thor, can you keep going? If not, give me the axe. I’ll kill this bastard."
"Me, Thor, unable to keep going? Do you know what flows through my veins?"
Fat Thor gritted his teeth, stood up, and roared. The two Tonys gave Fat Thor disdainful looks. Everyone knew his veins were filled with beer and cheese.
"Thanos, you will die by my hand again. I said so."
Ivan, clad in tattered armor and holding two lightning whips, shouted furiously. He had killed Thanos once, and Thanos hated him to the bone, relentlessly pursuing him. He was the most seriously injured among them, and even his Black Hole Annihilation Gun had been cut in half.
"Just you vermin?"
Thanos grinned viciously. Looking up at the sky, he said, "It is time to end this, vermin."
Everyone was somewhat bewildered. Why was Thanos looking at the sky? Was he trying to call the Sanctuaries for support? The problem was that the two Sanctuaries were being overwhelmed by the Celestial Head and could not support him at all.
At that moment, Doom’s solemn voice came through the communicator. "This is bad. A meteorite is speeding toward Earth at an astonishing velocity. It is expected to reach Earth in three minutes. With its current kinetic energy, destroying the American Continent would be effortless."
"What?"
Everyone was shocked. Future Tony hurriedly activated the satellites and discovered that Doom was right. A giant meteorite was racing toward Earth.
"Another meteorite? Thanos, can’t you come up with something new?"
Future Tony, who had once been struck by a meteorite, cursed through gritted teeth. Thanos said disdainfully, "I have no idea what you are talking about. This meteorite will completely destroy Earth. You are all doomed. Hahaha."
In Thanos’s view, using Death Power directly to kill people was too wasteful, so he had chosen to use it to resurrect himself and contact an ally.
That was right, an ally—inside the meteorite were the ancient god Knull and countless symbiotes.
The gaunt Knull said coldly, "Thanos, I will help you destroy Earth. After that, we owe each other nothing."
"You still have to help me seize the Infinity Stones."
Thanos reminded him. Why waste Death Power killing people when he could find an ancient god to help him? Especially a super ancient god like Knull, who was in the Main Universe.
"The Infinity Stones?"
Knull’s eyes flickered. "No problem. If you want them, I will seize them for you."
"Hahaha."
Thanos laughed loudly and pointed the Tyrant Blade at Tony. "Vermin, your end has come."
"Thor, Steve, keep him tied up. We’ll find a way to deal with that meteorite."
Tony shouted. Fat Thor and Steve nodded and rushed forward to besiege Thanos again. Thanos fought them with a contemptuous expression. In three minutes, all of them would die.
While calculating the meteorite’s impact force, Tony asked, "Doom, can the Celestial Head destroy that meteorite?"
"No. The meteorite is covered in a layer of magical energy. It is not an ordinary meteorite. A God-Devil Level powerhouse inside is controlling it."
After sensing it for a moment, Doom shook his head. "The only way is to control the Celestial Head and make it collide with the meteorite. The problem is that the meteorite is too close. Even if we shatter it, it will still affect Earth and may even alter Earth’s ecological environment."
"Damn it."
Both Tonys cursed. Tony instinctively turned to look at Wang Bert and asked, "Elektra, has Bert recovered? Only he can handle a situation like this."
The others also turned to look toward Wang Bert. Only he could save Earth.
"Not yet!"
Elektra shook her head. Thanos laughed loudly. "The Blood God is indeed powerful, but this time, he cannot help you. In fact, he cannot even help himself. He will die soon.
No one can resist death. When Death wants you dead, you must die."
