Shattered Metropolis

"His Highness Beckett, Woz recommends using kryptonite to defeat Superman, Clark Kent."

Ever dutiful, Woz continued advising Beckett at his side.

Kryptonite was the only weakness of this Kryptonian, Clark Kent. In the materials Woz had reviewed, many of Superman’s enemies had exploited that weakness.

Of course, Bruce Wayne was currently the only person in the world who had truly taken kryptonite use to an art form.

And Woz’s kryptonite combat plan had evolved precisely from Bruce Wayne’s "Superman Counter Plan."

It was a Saiyan version well suited to Beckett.

If time allowed, Woz could even forge a suit of armor out of kryptonite.

With Beckett’s strength, wearing that kryptonite armor would leave Superman, Clark, completely unable to fight back.

As for where to find that much kryptonite… Bruce Wayne did not have any, but another man named Lex Luthor did.

Woz had investigated it thoroughly.

That was precisely why it could not understand why Superman, Clark, had not previously blasted those two humans who had apparently grown bear guts from eight hundred miles away with Heat Vision.

With the abilities Clark had displayed so far, he could absolutely do that.

"I don’t need it."

Beckett rose from the ruins of the building, shook the debris from his body, flexed his knuckles, and charged once more at Clark, who had likewise flown out of the rubble to meet him.

Kryptonite?

What the hell was that?

What did he need it for?

Could he eat it?

Beckett slammed a fist into Clark’s right cheek. At the same time, his own chest received Clark’s return gift.

The collision of flesh was always life’s most primal desire.

No matter how they collided.

The hostility around Clark grew increasingly intense as time passed.

The frenzied battle caused certain factors within him to overwhelm his lingering confusion, and his muddled mind gradually became dominated by seething killing intent.

Under the blazing sun, Clark’s power continued to surge!

"AAAAAHHH!!!"

An extraordinarily rare roar burst from Clark. The increasingly berserk Kryptonian finally began gaining the upper hand in the battle.

Put simply: going dark made him three times stronger.

His sharply defined muscles gleamed with a chilling sheen beneath the sunlight. His explosive speed caught even Beckett off guard for a moment.

Boom!

The speeding Superman rammed into him, locking both arms tightly around his waist and dragging Beckett across Metropolis’s already shattered asphalt in an exceptionally manly man-locking-man position, gouging a bottomless scar through the ground!

"You bastard!!!"

Beckett’s roar immediately echoed through the skies above Metropolis as a silver-white pillar of energy abruptly split heaven and earth!

As energy surged, buildings were destroyed and lives were lost!

Sizzle!!!

Barely evading the attack, Clark fired two berserk beams of Heat Vision down at Beckett belowground!

Whoosh whoosh whoosh whoosh!!!!!!

Countless energy blasts surged in the direction Beckett pointed, their dense numbers weaving an inescapable net that blasted the entirety of Metropolis into a storm of dust and debris!

Arrogant golden aura mixed with blue lightning crashed into Clark’s chest, and the collision of fist against fist once more produced a metallic clang!

Boom!

A dull impact, a savage clash!

In Super Saiyan Two form, Beckett was shocked to discover that the power in the man before him showed signs of rising yet again?!

"You can’t beat me."

"And I can kill you!"

Killing intent condensed across the square face twisted by hostility. Faced with a powerful foe, the Kryptonian obeyed his body’s instinct and activated his cheat ability on the spot.

And that cheat ability came from the blazing sun hanging high in the sky!

"Many people have said they would kill me before, but in the end, they all died."

"They died by my hand."

"Except for a woman named Hela. She died by her father’s hand."

Beckett wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth. The next second, the sonic booms began again!

Fists, palms, elbows, knees, legs.

Even shoulders and heads.

Every part of their bodies became a weapon as Beckett and Clark fought, their storm-like barrage of attacks leaving behind a textbook-worthy display of hand-to-hand combat for the entire world.

Kryptonian integrated martial arts passed down from Krypton and Titan combat techniques from the Dark Order were broadcast live before countless cameras!

If one ignored the constantly collapsing buildings, it truly was a feast for every fighting enthusiast.

The Kryptonian’s body of steel gradually cracked, while Saiyan blood continued to drip.

The ruined Metropolis finally let out one last groan under its unbearable burden before shattering with a thunderous crash!

Everywhere one looked was devastation.

The once-prosperous city had become ruins in the blink of an eye.

A changed Superman and an unfamiliar Beckett, a resurrected Kryptonian and a Saiyan merely passing through—one absurdly motivated battle had cast a shadow over every human heart.

"You!"

"Aren’t you superheroes?! Huh?!"

A living corpse who had lost his wife and children fled in panic to the edge of an open plaza, where he saw Bruce Wayne in his iconic Batman attire.

Having lost everything and no longer fearing anything, the man approached them with tears still wet on his face. He seized Batman by the shoulders, shook him, roared, and demanded an answer.

Despair, suffocation, rage, grief.

The emotions tangled together, turning the man’s eyes into a burst dam as tears streamed down his face. "Why… why…"

As his rage turned into sobbing, the man’s powerless knees hit the ground, completely crushing the last remnants of pride in Bruce Wayne’s heart.

"Master Bruce, which do you need to put on first: the anti-Superman armor or the anti-Titan armor?"

Alfred, who had dragged the two suits of armor over from Gotham, arrived belatedly. Diana appeared alongside him.

"Uh, Diana, I think I can expl—" Barry Allen wanted to explain, but Diana shoved him aside.

Smack!

The slap rang crisply across Bruce Wayne’s face. The anger on Diana’s face silenced even Victor Stone at her side.

In that instant, he seemed to see the true majesty of a god.

"I told you, Bruce. I did not agree with your decision."

"Now, this is the consequence of your decision."

"Your decision."

With a cold expression, Diana turned and drew the sword from her back before walking toward the two immortals fighting in the distance.

Theoretically speaking, she was a god too.

Though only a demigod.

"Diana!"

"Come with me, Barry. And you, new friend."

"We have to stop this battle."

Divine power from Mount Olympus surged within Diana. Dragging along her not-yet-healed body, an unhealthy flush rose on her face.

"No, we already tried—"

"I said enough!"

Diana turned sideways. Her unquestionable authority made Barry Allen open his mouth, but he could no longer continue.

"Follow me. Now."
