#305
Whoever the armor was meant to counter, dismantled it-and the price was death
"Diana, you should understand that in your current condition, you’re no match for those two."
"You’re a god, but only a demigod."
"If you go up there now, you’ll only lose."
Seeing that Diana truly intended to draw her sword and join the battle, Bruce Wayne immediately spoke up to stop her.
If Diana forcibly intervened in Clark and Beckett’s battle in her current state, there was only one possible outcome—death without a whole body left behind.
Bruce Wayne was not being alarmist. It was a very real possibility.
In fact, whether it was the resurrected Superman or the mysterious Titan descendant Beckett, the strength the two were displaying had already far exceeded his expectations.
He needed to take responsibility for this, but not in such an irresponsible way.
"So?"
"Are we just going to watch and do nothing?"
"I can’t do that, Bruce."
Diana stopped walking forward. The violent sonic booms still rang without end. She turned around, her gaze as still as an ancient well.
"I’ll find a way. Trust me," Bruce Wayne said, his voice sounding somewhat hoarse.
Without looking back, Diana stepped into the ruins.
The biting wind brushed past the corners of her eyes and lifted the soft ends of her hair.
She looked cold and detached.
She had watched from the sidelines with cold eyes for nearly a century. She no longer wanted to stand by.
"Do you know, Bruce…"
"What you said to me before was actually right. I really should step out of the shadows and do what I’m supposed to do."
Divine power from Mount Olympus erupted forth. Diana, having resolved herself once more, vanished from everyone’s sight in an instant!
"…Has Lois Lane arrived yet, Alfred?" After a long silence, Bruce Wayne asked without turning around, a rare trace of impatience in his voice.
"I’ve already contacted her. She said she’s still on the way."
Standing behind Bruce Wayne, Alfred lowered his eyes to glance at his watch. Twenty minutes ago, he had called Lois Lane to confirm the situation.
Superman’s official girlfriend was Bruce Wayne’s prearranged Plan B, meant to prevent Superman from going berserk after his resurrection.
The feelings between the two were deep.
But now, a new problem had emerged.
Who was going to make Beckett stop?
The resurrected Superman had crashed into Beckett while he was flying through the air. That was outside Bruce Wayne’s plans.
He could not exactly find the Goddess of Death Hela to mediate.
They might not even be able to find the bodies.
Twilight of the Gods had buried the gods of the entire Norse Mythology pantheon.
Boom!
A figure landed in the empty plaza, interrupting Bruce Wayne’s thoughts.
Following the sound, he saw Diana lying amid the ruins, struggling to breathe.
"Victor, put on the anti-Titan armor. Now."
Bruce Wayne pressed the button on his wrist, and the anti-Superman armor he had used before once again answered his call and equipped itself onto him.
This was a new one-button suit-up feature he had added after the battle with Doomsday. It saved a great deal of time.
Bruce Wayne ultimately chose the anti-Superman armor he was most familiar with, while the biomechanical Vic Stone, with his astonishing learning ability, put on the first-generation anti-Titan armor.
Heavy armor covered his entire body. Parameters for all sorts of complex composite materials instantly appeared before Victor Stone’s eyes, leaving him visibly astonished.
"Incredible. How did you come up with this?"
"By using my brain."
Boom!
Wearing the heavy anti-Superman armor, Bruce Wayne landed effortlessly in front of Diana.
"Alfred, administer emergency treatment to this demigod from Mount Olympus."
"Barry, Victor, prepare for battle."
"Before Lois Lane arrives, we must keep those two inside Metropolis."
Bruce Wayne, who had finally received the equipment Alfred brought, raised his eyes as the kryptonite weapons stirred restlessly.
"Understood!"
Somewhat nervous, Barry Allen twisted his body and silently encouraged himself.
This was his first official fight since discovering he had superpowers. The one against Steppenwolf did not count.
"Ready, now—"
Whoosh!!!!
Before Bruce Wayne could finish speaking, Heat Vision from high in the sky, thousands of miles above, instantly pierced through his body!
"???!!!"
"Master Bruce?!!!"
"Bruce?!!"
Everyone was horrified by this sudden turn of events.
Bruce Wayne had put on the anti-Superman armor, yet before he could show off any of his moves, he had already been defeated by Superman’s Heat Vision…
Clang!
The heavy metal armor crashed to the ground. For the first time since becoming Batman, Bruce Wayne’s eyes widened, filled with utter disbelief.
Deadly dizziness came with the loss of blood, and the apocalyptic scene before Bruce Wayne gradually blurred.
His trembling legs staggered to keep his body balanced, while his completely numb arms twisted under the force into angles unimaginable for an ordinary person.
Boom!
Distracted by dealing with the kryptonite, Clark gave Beckett an opening. A storm of attacks instantly knocked him down to the edge of the ruins, not far from Bruce Wayne.
"The finale."
Invisible energy rapidly gathered in Beckett’s hands. A silver-white beam blasted out without warning, aimed directly at Clark, whom he had knocked to the ground.
Under normal circumstances, this energy blast was enough to pierce through Earth’s Star Core. Beckett had slightly reduced its power under his control, since this planet could not be destroyed before he used the Mother Box to open a cosmic passage.
"No!"
Victor Stone, wearing the anti-Titan armor, instinctively raised his arm. The fleeting killing intent caught Beckett’s attention.
Rumble rumble rumble!!!!!
Countless specially designed missiles all bombarded Beckett in the sky, trying to make him stop his energy attack.
In fact, he succeeded.
The terrifying energy pressure vanished without a trace the moment the missiles launched, but Victor Stone paid a painful price for it all.
The anti-Titan armor Bruce Wayne had spent a fortune building was like a paper toy before Beckett, torn apart with a single rip!
"So it was you?"
Beckett and Clark questioned him almost simultaneously.
The severely weakened Bruce Wayne was pale. His lips moved, but he could not utter a single complete sentence;
Terrified beyond measure, Victor Stone panicked. Protrusions sprouted from his mechanical body, only for Beckett to snap every one of them apart.
"No! Beckett! Clark!"
Riiip!
Victor Stone’s mechanical body was instantly torn in half, shattered circuits and components scattering across the ground in an instant!
Crack!
Bruce Wayne, his throat gripped in Superman’s hand, completely lost the breath of life under Superman’s immense strength…
Thud…
As though disposing of garbage, Beckett and Clark exchanged a glance before casually tossing the two nuisances aside.
"Now…"
Beckett walked toward Clark step by step, energy surging throughout his body;
"Continue." Clark replied coldly, the muscles across his body swelling!
Only one update today. Miserable self-review, working overtime all night ing(`Δ)!
