Shun Goku Satsu! (Second 3K Update, Please Subscribe)
Lin Qinfu sat up from the straw mat. He had secretly spent a large sum to hire locals from the village to carry him and Bai Cangshu to a nearby manor.
He gently kneaded his temples, feeling as though he had suddenly forgotten something, yet no matter how hard he tried, he could not remember what it was.
He went over his memories and felt that something was off.
For example, he clearly remembered that when he had first arrived here, he had worked under some terrifying figure, yet he could not recall that person’s name or appearance at all.
For another, he knew there was a manor nearby whose owner controlled all kinds of villages, bandit gangs, and compounds within nearly a hundred miles, yet he could no longer remember that person’s identity either.
Even why he knew about that manor was beginning to grow hazy.
Lin Qinfu stammered out an explanation to Bai Cangshu, terrified that the other man would decide he had no further use and kill him.
Yet to his surprise, this true tyrant merely smiled and nodded without pursuing the matter.
Bai Cangshu knew that the Space’s cognitive interference had begun to take effect.
Once a Reincarnator died, all information connected to them was taken and confiscated by the Space, as though it were some sort of resource to be allocated and consumed.
The result was that, depending on how close ordinary people had been to that Reincarnator, they would gradually forget their existence. Events related to them would become blurred and impossible to verify.
After even more time had passed, those events themselves would be completely forgotten, and no one would ever be able to recall anything about that person again.
Therefore, while Lin Qinfu had not yet forgotten the manor, Bai Cangshu deliberately had people take them to the rather famous No Return Manor in this region.
Many people who had offended Grandpa Mo had been taken into that manor and never returned. It was the place the locals feared most.
The compound Bai Cangshu had seized had been destroyed by a single blow from Grandpa Mo before he had even enjoyed it for a few weeks. He planned to settle into another manor first, then properly study how to build his paradise bit by bit.
At dawn, the two saw the manor hidden amid the mountains and forests. To be honest, it was not especially luxurious. The large number of wooden buildings made it look like little more than a slightly better village.
There was a wall at the entrance, with a four-meter-wide gravel road leading inside. Several guard posts stood along the way, each manned by armed guards.
Lin Qinfu watched with his own eyes as Madman Bai walked over to negotiate, then slaughtered every armed man one by one. The bullets seemed to have grown eyes of their own, yet none of them could hit Madman Bai.
Before long, Lin Qinfu entered the manor. He began directing the locals to gather the corpses, then rounded up the numb servants and had them continue cleaning the manor, hauling the various foul-smelling bodies far away to be buried.
As he did all this, Lin Qinfu felt as though even the piercing pain in his thigh had eased somewhat. He found a measure of peace. This manor might be where he could settle down for the foreseeable future.
As he thought this, he turned around and saw Madman Bai standing on the second floor of that exquisite wooden building, lying in a recliner as though he had already fallen asleep.
In the past, Lin Qinfu might have entertained other thoughts, but now, merely seeing the man’s appearance brought terrifying scenes flooding back into his mind.
This Madman Bai was utterly a ferocious beast wearing human skin—a monster, an evil ghost. There was no way to survive by becoming enemies with something like that…
Bai Cangshu noticed a huge pond in the manor’s backyard. It reeked of blood and rot, with many broken corpses floating atop it. He guessed that Grandpa Mo’s abilities might have included something like summons or contracted beasts.
It was simply difficult to make use of such things in the real world, so Grandpa Mo had not brought it along that night. Now that Grandpa Mo was dead, Bai Cangshu did not know whether that thing had vanished or escaped from the manor.
Tsk. Hopefully it would not bring disaster upon the locals.
Bai Cangshu lay in the rocking chair, gently swaying.
If he wanted to slaughter Reincarnators on a large scale in Northern Myanmar, then the first priority was naturally a sound means of gathering intelligence.
This place was a chaotic mix of all sorts of people, with every faction holding its own territory. There were old aristocratic clans left behind by history, warlords, bandit gangs, drug traffickers, and corrupt bureaucrats within government agencies lining their own pockets.
Intelligence and information were extremely opaque.
"Lin Qinfu! Get me a computer!"
Bai Cangshu suddenly roared, making Lin Qinfu below immediately scratch his head as he tried to find a solution.
This was the information age. Bai Cangshu decided to see what he could do through the internet. As it happened, he also needed some means of translation for the laptop he had obtained from Evil Child’s Private Space, so he could see whether it contained any special information.
There should be quite a few Reincarnators in Goryeo as well. If Evil Child had suitable targets, Bai Cangshu would not mind hunting them down in her place.
Black Butler had a thought and attempted to access a Private Space.
You are applying to enter the Private Space of the team Fatal Fury...Application in progress...Application approvedWith a flash of light, Black Butler appeared in a small street district. This Space covered over two mu of land. The distance was swallowed by darkness, but nearby stood several buildings flickering with neon lights.
The team called Fatal Fury was clearly no small outfit, and they had planned their Team Space with great distinction. Since their team resources were sufficient, they had even set aside several separate buildings to serve as a resource warehouse, conference hall, and training room.
Even among Second Tier teams, this was quite rare.
The authority Black Butler had been granted only allowed him to access the conference hall. He looked at the gray corridor before him, roughly three stories tall and filled with an eerie atmosphere. A height like this clearly was not intended for Reincarnators of ordinary stature.
He approached the corridor and reached out to touch it, immediately being teleported inside.
Once inside, the place appeared extremely spacious, with exquisite red carpeting spread across the floor.
Besides Black Butler, several Information Brokers had also arrived.
A powerfully built man with pink short hair sat at the very front of the conference room. His features were refined, but the anger on his face was impossible to conceal.
"Someone hunted down one of our team members in the real world."
The moment he spoke, the people below all opened their eyes. Powerful auras and oppressive presences emerged at once. Black Butler knew that every one of them was an elite Reincarnator who had crossed the first threshold.
Fatal Fury was an even stronger team than the Fifth Element at its former peak. Within the Second Tier, it was a top elite team on par with 9527, the Far East Magic Society, and several other teams.
Multiple large gatherings had been trying to recruit them.
Fatal Fury’s team leader was the pink-haired man now speaking. His codename was Rose Tiger, a powerful fighter said to rival Kai of the Fifth Element. The two had clashed many times in various settings and had sparred within the Space as well, with neither gaining a clear advantage.
"I need a name. A codename. Name your price."
The Information Brokers exchanged glances, knowing that today’s matter might not end peacefully.
This line of work inevitably led to such situations. Those who dealt with intelligence all day would always encounter people who lost their minds because of it and came looking for them.
"Sorry, Rose Tiger. My condolences, but no one has asked me about your team members recently."
Cyberk, cloaked in a hooded robe, was the first to answer. Yet Rose Tiger’s expression only turned uglier.
He had never been a patient man. Now he rose to his feet, the aura around him beginning to grow unstable as he spoke to the group.
"Whether you truly know or not, I need a name!"
In increasingly dangerous mission worlds, a qualified Defense-Specialized Reincarnator was extremely valuable.
Mo Jiang had been cultivated by the team through the expenditure of many resources, and he had indeed devoted himself to them. Along the way, he had saved the team countless times, always standing before the most dangerous enemies.
Whether out of personal feelings or the team’s interests, Rose Tiger could not forgive the person who had hunted down Mo Jiang.
But unlike the Fifth Element, Fatal Fury was not so "harmonious and loving." The consequence of placing too much emphasis on powerful combat strength was that the team members did not get along well and even suspected one another.
Team members also rarely revealed information about one another’s real-world identities.
Their dynamic was closer to that of "teammates" than the "family and friends" relationship of the Fifth Element.
Thus, when Rose Tiger wanted revenge now, he had no target at all.
He did not even know whether this had been done by certain Second Tier teams, by individual Reincarnators, or because he had recently let something slip and grown too close to Crimson Lotus Mage · Luoxi, drawing the displeasure of other Title-level Reincarnators.
Rose Tiger clutched his head. Thinking about such matters made it feel as though his skull were splitting apart.
"Haha, Tiger, what’s the use of forcing them? I say you should find a diviner and divine Mo Jiang’s location in the real world. Start from there, if… you really want to avenge him that badly."
The woman speaking wore a long dress and leaned against the windowsill to the right. Her gaze swept over the team members. Aside from that idiot Rose Tiger, few of them truly wanted to avenge Mo Jiang.
She knew very well that Crimson Lotus Mage · Luoxi had indeed won Rose Tiger over, but several other Title-level Reincarnators had also made contact with the team’s other core members.
Even she had received several promises.
This so-called Fatal Fury would probably soon become a legend…
Her gaze was unrestrained. Suddenly, she noticed Black Butler and spoke with great interest.
"Black Butler, I heard that the Great Sun of Finality sent someone to find you recently. Was one of his followers really killed?"
At those words, even Rose Tiger forgot his anger. He turned and looked at Black Butler.
Black Butler adjusted his monocle. He considered this intelligence to be of little value. On the contrary, such information was usually bait to draw interest, making others willing to pay for more in-depth intelligence.
"That’s right. His Excellency sent a follower to contact me and confirmed that Kalpa of the First Tier was his follower and had already been killed."
Rose Tiger let out a derisive snort.
"Kalpa?"
"A nobody like that could become a follower? What kind of damn luck did he have?"
The woman curled her lips. Rather than bite Black Butler’s hook, she abruptly changed the subject.
"That Mercenary Tao is your client, right? I’ve taken a liking to his Compound V. I’d like to ask you to negotiate with him for me."
"Also, do you know what type of items he prefers?"
The woman revealed her true intention, and Rose Tiger’s expression shifted slightly.
To others, Compound V was merely a fairly cost-effective gamble. After injecting it, one would see whether their superpower was strong enough. If it was, they could pay a price to anchor it with the Goddess.
If the effect was poor, they would have to pay a great price to remove it and repair their genes.
But this woman was different. To her, Compound V was likely a convenient genetic weapon.
Rose Tiger keenly realized that this woman likely had other intentions.
Black Butler took in everyone’s expressions. After considering Mercenary Tao’s needs, he said, "Mercenary Tao probably needs two types of things most."
"One is a fast, convenient means of transportation. The other…"
"Is a powerful, high-frequency martial arts attack ability."
He explained this to the woman, but his gaze was directed at Rose Tiger.
Many people knew that an Information Broker in the Space was arranging a trade for Rose Tiger. The item was an Ability Scroll called Shun Goku Satsu.
There was one fewer update today. I’ve been busy these past two days, but I’ll try to post more after the recommendation push on the 30th to make up for it. Thank you all for your support.
