Space Reinforcement
The Fire Breath that had nearly blanketed the entire sky surged toward Yinsen’s outstretched finger as if drawn by something, desperately "drilling" into it.
Everyone below, who had been worried for Yinsen, was astonished by the sight. After observing carefully, Jaina realized that Yinsen had used a spell similar to banishment, sending Onyxia’s Fire Breath somewhere else.
Yinsen’s finger looked unchanged, but its tip was effectively an opened Space Rift. Judging by its tremendous suction, otherwise there was no way it could gather that massive breath attack and banish it into another space. Jaina could already sense that the fingertip was connected to another space, though she had no idea where exactly.
Seeing that her breath attack had done nothing but waste her strength, Onyxia stopped. Her enormous dragon eyes glared fixedly at Yinsen, who remained in midair.
Yinsen had just adjusted his posture in the air. The Flame Wings behind him had finally stabilized his balance, and he had not withdrawn his outstretched left hand. Although Onyxia had stopped breathing fire, the flames she had spewed did not vanish the instant she closed her mouth. A vast expanse of fire still remained before him, waiting to be sent elsewhere.
Otherworld Dimension was a spell he had only recently managed to develop. Its prototype had come from some counterfeit pope. The original version could freely throw any object or creature into another space—or some corner of the universe. Considering that many creatures could not survive in space, the move was actually extremely lethal.
Yinsen did not know whether the black dragon before him could survive in the void of space. He only knew that his spell had not yet reached the level of the original. There was no way he could throw a creature as powerful as Onyxia into the Otherworld Dimension.
Forget a powerful black dragon—even Varian, a mere human, could not be thrown into the Otherworld Dimension by Yinsen. Moreover, since this spell had been developed in Azeroth, a comparatively "riddled with holes" world, he was not even sure whether he could so easily open a sufficiently strong Space Rift in another world.
For now, the spell was only a rough prototype. It could only absorb Energy Attacks, which happened to counter Onyxia’s Fire Breath and render one of her most powerful attack methods useless. That was an unexpected gain.
Just as Yinsen had blocked Onyxia’s attack and the black dragon was briefly at a loss over how to deal with this human mage, Bolvar and Varian charged at her again from the ground, launching what amounted to suicidal attacks.
Compared to a black dragon, humans were truly tiny. Although Varian and Bolvar were both tall, powerfully built men among humans, they were insignificant before the massive black dragon. Varian’s weapon was powerful and sharp enough to pierce the black dragon’s heavily defended scales, but even with all his strength, he could only leave shallow wounds. Aside from making Onyxia angrier and more irritated, it had no practical effect.
Perhaps fed up with being slashed at, Onyxia finally lowered her head to look at Varian, then raised an enormous dragon claw and swatted it down.
Varian had just left a shallow wound on the black dragon with his blade. The sudden attack gave him no time to dodge properly, and in his haste, he could only raise his weapon to block it.
"Your Majesty!"
Bolvar’s weapon was merely an ordinary longsword. After hacking away for so long, he had failed to harm the black dragon at all. Other than sending showers of sparks flying from her scales again and again, he could not even leave a minor wound.
So after fighting for a while, Bolvar focused more on drawing the black dragon’s attention. He had already given up much hope of personally slaying her. He only hoped Jaina would be more effective and use a powerful offensive spell to blast the black dragon to death sooner.
Beyond that, he kept watch over King Varian Wrynn. He had already made one terrible mistake, and he absolutely would not allow himself to make more.
Varian Wrynn had only just managed to return to Stormwind City. Bolvar would never allow Your Majesty to be hurt by the black dragon right in front of him.
When he noticed the black dragon’s claw striking toward Varian, the Grand Duke of Stormwind City reacted far faster than Varian. He rushed over immediately and shoved Varian away.
Boom!
The black dragon’s powerful blow kicked up a cloud of dust. When she raised her claw again, she discovered that Bolvar, who should have been reduced to pulp, stood unharmed beneath the protection of Holy Light.
"Damn paladin!"
This battle had left her utterly frustrated. Onyxia was so enraged that she no longer knew how to describe her feelings, and suddenly let out a strange roar.
Unlike her previous roars, which had merely vented her anger, Yinsen, hovering in midair on Flame Wings, felt waves of powerful magical ripples spreading from the black dragon’s body. The instant those magical fluctuations touched him, even the magic power within him was shaken. The Flame Wings spread behind him were dispersed by the roar mixed with magical power, causing him to lose the ability to fly and plummet rapidly downward.
Fortunately, Yinsen’s control over his magic power was extraordinary. He recovered in an instant, lightly pointed his right hand beneath himself, and flicked his joined index and middle fingers. A blue circular portal appeared beneath his feet.
After adjusting his posture in midair, Yinsen fell headfirst into the blue portal. When he shot out from another blue circular portal, he arrived directly beside Onyxia’s neck, his downward fall transformed into a sideways charge.
The Combat Cross in his hand was activated at maximum power. In that state, it could barely pierce the black dragon’s tough scales and inflict sufficient damage. But if he truly wanted to kill her, slashing was not an option. He had to thrust. Only then would the wound be deep enough to injure the enormous black dragon.
Unfortunately, a dragon’s field of vision was much wider than a human’s. What would normally be a human blind spot was not necessarily a black dragon’s blind spot. Onyxia saw Yinsen’s movements clearly and simply flapped her wing, sending him flying again.
This time, without Flame Wings to help him correct his posture, Yinsen crashed heavily into the ground. He slid a long distance before finally coming to a stop.
"How are you?"
"I’m fine."
Yinsen came to a stop not far from Jaina, and she anxiously asked about his condition.
They were allies now, and Yinsen was also tied to the stability of this Mirror Dimension. If he were seriously injured, unconscious, or even dead, the Mirror Dimension would be dispelled. Once freed from her prison, Onyxia would undoubtedly wreak enormous destruction upon Stormwind City. Who knew how many people would die in the disaster?
No matter how one looked at it, nothing could happen to Yinsen. Yet Jaina had not expected that Yinsen, who had been sent flying by a black dragon’s wing, would simply stand back up as though nothing had happened. He truly appeared to be uninjured.
"The equipment you’re wearing can no longer protect you."
Loki saw more clearly. The reason Yinsen had not been harmed after taking Onyxia’s blow head-on was that his Magic Suit had provided sufficient protection. But that layer of defense had completely failed after that strike and would no longer protect him.
What Loki did not know was that Yinsen’s equipment had not merely failed—it had been destroyed outright. His Magic Suit had originally been able to generate a layer of Energy Defense close to his body. He had always thought its defensive effect was sufficient, but he had not expected it to be completely destroyed after enduring just one blow from the black dragon.
"Didn’t you keep saying you wanted revenge on the black dragon? Why aren’t you attacking?"
Loki had only acted once, when Yinsen had "ambushed" him. After that, he had returned to watching the spectacle.
"If you want me to truly make a move, then you need to reinforce this space first."
If Yinsen had not noticed before, then after Loki said that, he finally sensed that faint yet chilling Frost Energy.
Loki had been quietly gathering that energy all along. He was waiting for an opportunity to deliver a killing blow. At the same time, the Mirror Dimension’s current condition was far from good. If he attacked, perhaps the space would collapse before the black dragon was killed.
Yinsen raised his head and looked around. At some point, countless cracks had appeared in the Mirror Dimension. Looking in every direction now was like viewing the world through layers of shattered glass walls—riddled with holes and broken beyond recognition, as if it could turn into a field of fragments at any moment.
"He’s right. This Independent Space you created is about to give out."
Jaina had not been idle either. She too was preparing a powerful attack. Her thoughts were similar to Bolvar’s: against a massive creature like a black dragon, expecting Varian and Bolvar to inflict enough damage was simply unrealistic. The deciding factor could only be spellcasters like herself, who possessed powerful offensive methods.
Yinsen looked at Jaina, then at Loki. Both of them had their ultimate moves ready. The moment he reinforced the Mirror Dimension, they would give Onyxia a vicious blow.
"This is easy enough."
Yinsen clenched his fist. The unremarkable ring on his right hand suddenly flashed with a blinding blue light. He had drawn upon all the magic power stored within it, preparing to use it all to reinforce this space.
As all the magic power in the ring was mobilized, Yinsen crouched and slammed his glowing palm against the ground. A blue ripple burst outward from him.
