Spider-Woman (Signed-Please Bookmark)

At night, New York City was divided into two extremes by the enormous wealth gap between its residents.

Separated by only a single street, they looked like two completely different worlds.

One side was drenched in luxury, like heaven. The other struggled in misery, like hell.

While countless ordinary people had already gone to sleep so they would have the energy to work better tomorrow, the wealthy district just across the street remained brightly lit and as bustling as ever.

For those rich people, the good nightlife had only just begun.

Likewise, for certain people who wanted to get rich without working, this place was also like heaven.

After all, this was a country full of "harmony."

Crimes took place almost every moment.

For instance, in a secluded alley at the border between the working-class district and the wealthy district.

A group of fashionably dressed young Black men had cornered a middle-aged woman against the wall.

"Ah! Help! Don’t come any closer…"

Though she knew perfectly well that it was best not to go out alone at night in this superficially harmonious city,

her family’s serious illness, along with her infant child who was only a little over a year old, left her with no choice but to take the risk of looking for a better-paying job at night.

Before this, she had been lucky enough to avoid any accidents.

But Lady Luck would not favor someone forever.

Until today, when she was surrounded by a gang of thugs.

"Don’t come any closer! I have money. You can have all of it. Please, let me go. My child is still waiting for me to come home."

In a panic, she pulled the loose change she had prepared beforehand from her pocket, hoping these men would let her leave.

However, she had underestimated the thugs’ appetite. How could a few dozen dollars in loose change satisfy so many of them?

A burly man who appeared to be the gang’s leader, wearing a classic cowboy brimmed hat, slowly took the loose change from the woman’s hand.

Unhurriedly, he smoothed out each bill one by one, stacked them neatly from largest to smallest denomination, folded the stack in half, and slowly slipped it into the back pocket of his jeans.

"Heh heh, ma’am, you didn’t think this little money would be enough to send my brothers on their way, did you?"

As he spoke, he slowly drew a silver revolver from his waist and skillfully spun it several times in his hand.

The spinning revolver abruptly stopped the next moment, its barrel pointed directly at the woman.

"Hand over your bank cards and everything else valuable, or my gun is very quick."

"That’s right! Our boss is the most famous Quickdraw on this street. Hand over the money if you know what’s good for you, unless you want us to search your corpse for it."

Watching their boss move with the elegance of a cowboy, the other underlings spoke up, flattering him while threatening the woman.

"No, please! My husband and child at home need this money. I’m begging you…"

With the gun pointed at her, the woman was terrified. She cried out desperately, begging for mercy from these people.

But the "Cowboy" pointing the gun at her did not lower it. Instead, he slowly began counting, one word at a time. "Three…"

Splat…

Unfortunately, before he could count to two, a strand of silvery Webbing suddenly shot out from the darkness and struck the wrist holding his revolver with perfect accuracy.

"Who was that?"

The cowboy-like gang leader was shocked, all his usual elegance gone.

But the only answer he received was an enormous force traveling down the Webbing stuck to his arm.

The immense force even lifted his entire body into the air. His burly frame seemed weightless, and the revolver slipped from his grasp and fell to the ground.

The moment he was lifted by the Webbing, a figure suddenly darted out of the darkness.

A foot slammed viciously into his face.

The big man felt as if a car had struck him head-on.

His entire body flew backward instantly, and several teeth mixed with blood sprayed from his mouth before he even hit the ground.

Only when he crashed into the wall behind him did he finally pass out.

"Boss!"

The other thugs had not even seen what had just happened.

They only saw their boss suddenly fly into the air and crash into the wall, his fate unknown.

Then they saw a figure in a black-and-white bodysuit, wearing a hood patterned like a spiderweb, somehow already standing before them.

"Oh no, it’s Spider-Woman!"

A week ago, Spider-Woman’s name had spread throughout all of New York City. Street thugs large and small all knew there was someone who specialized in making trouble for them.

At that moment, they instantly realized that the person who had suddenly appeared before them was the righteous hero who made New York City’s criminals tremble—Spider-Woman.

"Everyone, run!"

The remaining thugs scattered at once, scrambling and crawling toward the alley entrance. Only one young man seemed to have been frightened senseless, his legs so weak that he had collapsed in the corner.

"Ha ha, that saying really was right. You don’t need to run faster than the predator; you just need to run faster than your companions."

One young Black man ran the fastest, far ahead of the others. He was practically out of the alley already.

Great! Once I’m out of the alley, I’ll be safe.

But before he could celebrate, he discovered that he could no longer move forward. He was only one step away from leaving the alley.

Yet that single step was like an uncrossable chasm.

The next moment, an enormous force struck him, sending his entire body flying backward out of his control.

Then another massive force slammed into him, launching him straight into the wall.

Splat, splat, splat…

The next moment, several clumps of Webbing stuck him completely to the wall in a humiliating pose.

At the same time, his other companions suffered the same fate one after another.

Before they could escape the alley, they were all stuck to the wall one by one with Webbing, each in a different bizarre pose.

Like a grotesque mural.

"Heh, all taken care of."

Having subdued nearly all the criminals, Spider-Woman did not feel the slightest difficulty.

"No, there’s still one."

But the next moment, her Spider-Sense suddenly activated. She almost instinctively spun around and fired a mass of Webbing behind her.

"Hm? How was that possible?!"

Yet the Webbing she almost never missed with failed to hit its target this time.

Because the threat she had sensed with her Spider-Sense

was now being held in the hand of a Mysterious Person.

A towering figure had somehow appeared in the dark alley.

At that moment, he was holding by the neck the thug who had collapsed there earlier, then picked up the revolver from the ground and prepared to attack her from behind.

Though he used only one hand, he effortlessly lifted a man weighing dozens of kilograms into the air.

"Urgh…"

With an arm as hard as steel gripping his throat of fate, the thug felt that he was about to suffocate completely.

Yet the Mysterious Person seemed to have completely forgotten that he was holding a living person in his hand.

Instead, he looked at Spider-Woman in the distance and slowly spoke in a deep voice.

"I finally found you, Spider-Woman!"
