Spokesperson Sonia
Night fell swiftly.
The cafeteria near the harbor was brightly lit, with blazing bonfires as well. Crowds gathered there, making the place look exceptionally lively.
Standing at the main entrance of the Records Temple, Sarah could see the glow coming from the direction of the shore.
After getting off work and putting up the notice board, Sarah also headed toward the venue of the banquet.
Streetlights lined both sides of the road, so even after eight at night, it did not seem dark.
They kept Sarah from feeling too afraid as she walked.
Still, as she walked, Sarah felt it was necessary to have her car from Xandar City shipped over.
Otherwise, since she could not run very fast, going back and forth to the cafeteria area wasted a little too much time each time.
When Sarah followed the flat, brightly lit road all the way to the cafeteria near the harbor,
she saw a large crowd gathered together. Whether standing or sitting, they were all drinking fine liquor and enjoying delicious food, and the atmosphere was incredibly festive.
She had not noticed before, but now Sarah realized that every one of them looked excessively young.
None appeared to be over thirty. Most were only in their early twenties.
Moreover, they were not merely holding wineglasses and chatting. They were all competing for food, and they ate exceptionally fast.
Also, none of them had dressed in formal evening wear or anything like that. Instead, they were all dressed very casually, prioritizing comfort and leisure.
This was quite different from the banquets Sarah had attended before, and she did not know what to make of it.
Sarah’s arrival immediately drew some attention, and every gaze contained a hint of surprise.
With hundreds of eyes focused on her, Sarah’s heart tightened. However, someone soon came over to ease the situation.
"I didn’t expect Miss Sarah to actually be willing to come."
"If I’d known you were coming, I would have had Kyle pick you up."
Renoli, with his silver hair and handsome features, appeared before Sarah in an instant and spoke with some surprise.
They all knew that even if Sarah agreed verbally, she most likely would not come.
After all, Sarah was an ordinary person. Coming to a place where so many superpowered people had gathered, it would certainly be difficult for her to fit in.
"Hello, Lord Renoli. I received an invitation, so I wanted to come and take a look."
Sarah saw Renoli appear before her in a flash. Though she was nervous inside, she still forced a slight smile and spoke.
"Since you’re here, I’ll find you a seat."
"Although this is a banquet, it isn’t as formal as those outside."
"We’re just sitting together, eating, drinking, and talking about our experiences or recent gains."
Renoli could tell that Sarah was forcing a smile, but he did not expose her. Instead, he guided her along.
Sarah had been brought back by Miss Sonia. They had received much care from Miss Sonia, yet had never had much chance to repay her.
Now, helping Miss Sonia look after Miss Sarah could at least be considered a small favor.
"Mm, thank you, Lord Renoli."
Sarah said gratefully upon hearing that.
Then Sarah followed Renoli to the table occupied by Renoli, Lacey, the Precognitor, Kyle, and Tony.
In truth, the food on every table was exceptionally plentiful, with no great difference between them.
That was also why Tony’s banquets were so popular among the island’s many members.
Sarah sat somewhat stiffly beside Lacey, with both hands resting on her knees.
"You don’t need to be so nervous. They’re only surprised that you came; there isn’t any ill will mixed in."
Seeing Sarah’s nervous appearance, Lacey softly reassured her.
"That’s right, Miss Sarah. Take whatever you want to eat."
"If you can’t reach it, just say so. We’ll help you."
Seeing Sarah sitting quietly beside Lacey, Kyle knew that it was Sarah’s first time in this kind of setting and that she was not used to it.
So he did not deliberately joke around or make crude remarks.
"By the way, Miss Sarah, I forgot to ask at noon today. How long have you been on the island?"
Seeing Sarah’s arrival, Tony smiled and asked casually.
"Today makes eight days."
Feeling the friendly atmosphere, Sarah’s nervousness eased considerably when she heard the question, and she answered.
"Eight days? Then you haven’t been on the island for very long."
"Once you completely get used to it, you’ll know that there is no need to be afraid on the island."
"Everyone here is essentially a superpowered person."
"But because Miss Sonia manages the place, there won’t be people fighting each other or causing trouble everywhere on the island."
"Therefore, even if you wander around in the middle of the night, you won’t encounter any danger."
"Of course, I am not suggesting that you wander around in the middle of the night. Resting at the proper time is the right choice."
After hearing Sarah’s answer, Tony explained the situation on the island.
"Why are so many people willing to listen to Sonia-senpai’s management?"
Those words were like a calming shot for Sarah, but they also gave rise to some doubts.
"You were brought back by Miss Sonia. Didn’t Miss Sonia tell you anything about her?"
Kyle asked in surprise upon hearing the question.
"No. Sonia-senpai only told me that aside from revering Lord Kassadin, there are no clear superior-subordinate relationships on the island."
"She said that the people on the island are willing to listen to her at certain times only because she is Lord Kassadin’s housekeeper and they are willing to respect her. It does not mean that everyone on the island is managed by her."
"She also gave me this job and told me that I could leave at any time."
"Sonia-senpai was very busy and left immediately, so she did not have time to explain much to me."
Sarah shook her head in confusion and spoke.
That was also because Sonia-senpai had said there were no superior-subordinate relationships, while Tony Stark had said that everyone was under Sonia-senpai’s management.
It left Sarah unable to understand what the island’s actual situation was.
"Miss Sonia said something like that? That truly is a delightful thing to hear."
"But Miss Sonia did not deceive you. Her position on the island is that of Lord Kassadin’s housekeeper."
"However, you can also regard Miss Sonia, this housekeeper, as the spokesperson of the great Lord Kassadin."
"She is also the bridge through which we can connect with Lord Kassadin."
"Many matters on the island require Miss Sonia’s approval."
"Setting aside Miss Sonia’s unfathomable strength, her status as spokesperson alone is enough to earn everyone’s reverence."
Kyle smiled when he heard that and patiently explained Miss Sonia’s position on the island.
