Successful “Prison Break”
In fact, just as Alex had expected, Kyln Prison’s guards had long since let down their guard because of the prolonged peace. At this moment, only two robots remained in the surveillance room, while the rest had no idea where they had run off to fool around!
Alex stood gloomily beside the cell block gate, staring at the metal door within arm’s reach, his face dark as thunder.
The cell block gate sealed off the entire block and was one of Kyln Prison’s most important checkpoints. For that reason, when Kyln Prison had been built, these gates had been forged from an extremely sturdy metal found in the universe mixed with other rare metals. To some extent, they even possessed effects similar to Captain America Steve’s shield.
Therefore, breaking through this metal door was practically impossible.
Alex’s original plan had been to alert the prison guards and make them open the cell block gate themselves, then take the opportunity to sneak out. But now, the guards simply had not noticed!
After hesitating for a moment, Alex moved again and slowly headed toward the nearest surveillance camera. Due to the effects of five hundred times gravity, even with his electromagnetic field offsetting it, Alex’s movement speed was still severely restricted.
After dismantling another camera, Alex immediately turned around and headed back toward the cell block gate.
However, when Alex painstakingly returned to the cell block gate, the alarm he had expected still had not gone off, let alone any prison guards opening the gate and charging in!
Damn it, are they all dead?! Alex fumed inwardly, deciding that once he became a high-ranking member of the Nova Corps, he would definitely teach these negligent guards a proper lesson.
After grumbling for a while, Alex decided to change strategies. He glanced around and walked toward a robot in the corner of the cell block. Patrol robots were Kyln Prison’s main patrol force, responsible primarily for patrolling inside the cell blocks. Whenever night fell, they would return to a designated area where the supergravity state was not activated.
However, not just anyone could enter that area. Anyone who dared step inside would be met with the robots’ frenzied attacks.
Alex quickened his pace, but did not approach. From a distance, he fired an Energy Impact Beam.
The Energy Impact Beam had also improved considerably through Alex’s training. The arm-thick Impact Beam struck the robot in a flash of lightning and sparks. Without any surprise, the Impact Beam instantly punched through the robot’s chest before finally hitting the wall behind it and vanishing.
After attacking, Alex immediately hid himself, then turned and headed toward the cell block gate, leaving only several energy bodies behind.
The robot whose chest had been pierced by the Energy Impact Beam was scrapped on the spot, but the other nearby robots reacted swiftly and launched a frenzied counterattack. Bullets swept out like a curtain of rain, instantly riddling the energy clones Alex had left behind.
With the robots’ attack, the entire prison was thrown into an uproar. Countless sleeping prisoners were awakened, and the alarm bells finally rang as Alex had wished.
"This has gotten a little too big!" Turning to look at the prisoners crowding at their cell doors to see what was happening, Alex’s face paled slightly. He immediately sped up, barely managing to jog to the cell block gate and hide himself.
Less than half a minute later, the immense gravity blanketing the entire cell block vanished. Immediately afterward, the crisp, orderly sound of marching footsteps came from outside the gate. Alex stirred slightly, knowing that the Nova Corps had arrived.
With a series of metallic clanks, the sealed cell block gate finally opened. Squads of people in tightly sealed Nova Corps uniforms rushed in with weapons in hand, with quite a few carrying heavy weapons behind them.
Alex did not rashly rush out, because he knew there was another layer of restrictions on the cell block gate. If he tried to force his way out now, he would be discovered immediately.
Every prisoner sent into Kyln Prison had an intelligent chip implanted in their body. The chip recorded all information about its bearer, from their crimes to their conduct in prison. At the same time, the chip possessed a universal positioning system. No matter where someone fled, they would eventually be captured.
Not only that, the chip was implanted in the heart and had attack modes such as electric shocks and explosions. Therefore, as long as Kyln Prison wished it, it could kill the vast majority of prisoners at any time. Of course, such chips were useless against certain people and were mostly used on prisoners in the outer prison.
Alex had one as well, but with his abilities, he had dozens of ways to resolve this problem. However, Alex had not done so, instead allowing the chip to remain in his heart.
After carefully isolating the chip, Alex slipped beneath the metal gate, which had lowered two-thirds of the way, just as the cell block gate was about to close again.
Alex moved with extreme caution and did not attract anyone’s attention.
Once outside the cell block, Alex immediately let loose and sprinted all the way toward the spacecraft landing pad.
This time, Alex did not hide his tracks. He even deliberately exposed himself several times. In an instant, the entire Kyln Prison was thrown into chaos as countless Nova Corps officers and robots began pursuing and intercepting Alex.
Alex refused to be outdone and began fighting back, though he held back. Otherwise, with Alex’s current strength, he could have easily blown apart these people, who were not much stronger than Steve.
Even so, Alex somehow managed to break through to the landing pad.
"What now?" Looking at the spacecraft so close at hand, Alex did not know whether to laugh or cry. He had not expected the Nova Corps officers in Kyln Prison to be so useless. They were not only incompetent but stupid as well. They had not moved the spacecraft away in advance, instead leaving it parked here. Were they not practically inviting someone to escape?
But Alex did not actually want to break out of prison!
Should I just surrender now? The thought had barely arisen before Alex immediately dismissed it. That would obviously look suspicious. No matter how stupid someone was, they should be able to see that.
Left with no choice, Alex still ran into the spacecraft. "Forget it, I’ll cause a traffic accident later!"
After entering the spacecraft, Alex casually glanced around, started it up, and flew out of the landing pad with extremely practiced movements.
Only after the spacecraft had flown out did the Nova Corps finally arrive. Watching the spacecraft gradually disappear into the distance, the large group showed no reaction at all. Forget chasing after it, not even one of them fired a shot. It seemed they had all given up and had no intention of pursuing him.
Damn it, at least chase me! Alex was completely depressed. With no one chasing him, he could hardly bring himself to crash into a meteorite on his own!
Alex fiercely slapped the dashboard in front of the pilot’s seat and could not help cursing aloud. "What the hell is this supposed to be?!"
Just as he was ranting, a cool voice suddenly sounded behind him. It was in the language of the Nova Empire, which sounded like the soft, gentle dialects of China’s Wu region and was incredibly pleasant to the ear.
"Who are you? How are you here?"
Alex abruptly turned around. Seeing the woman before him, he froze, and an inexplicable thought rose in his heart: This really seems to have gotten out of hand!
