Suppressing the Great Serpent

"Who does the Blood God think he is? What makes him worthy of judging me?"

The Great Serpent could not be bothered to waste more words. He swung the Fear Hammer fiercely at Adam, twisting even space-time before its might. The instant the Great Serpent threw the hammer, it appeared before Adam’s chest with overwhelming force.

Fortunately, Adam possessed the Time Concept. With a light pat of his left hand, time slowed to an extreme. Then, he swung the Lucifer Greatsword and slashed hard at the Fear Hammer, cutting a black line straight through the void.

At that moment, the Fear Hammer suddenly vanished. When it reappeared, it was already above Adam’s head. Then, it abruptly enlarged and crashed down at Adam like a mountain.

Rather than dodge, Adam hurled the Lucifer Greatsword at the Great Serpent. The Great Serpent was somewhat surprised and sidestepped the blade, then threw a heavy punch into its body, sending it flying away.

At that moment, the Fear Hammer suddenly appeared above the Great Serpent and smashed down at him with earth-shattering force.

"How could this happen?"

The Great Serpent was shocked beyond belief. Why was his own hammer attacking him? He had no time to think and hurriedly raised both hands to block it.

With a thunderous boom, the void shattered inch by inch. The Great Serpent was sent flying and slammed hard into the space barrier below. The barrier rippled layer after layer from the impact.

Before the Great Serpent could get up, a massive lightning bolt filled with destructive power blasted toward him like the end of the world. Odin had made his move.

The Great Serpent’s expression changed slightly. Odin had used his trump card: Destruction Lightning.

Lightning Concept—Destruction Lightning. Lightning capable of destroying all things in the world, even space and time.

The Great Serpent did not dare be careless. He gathered all his divine power of fear, preparing to clash head-on with Odin.

Just then, the Great Serpent’s divine power of fear suddenly descended into complete chaos. He could not summon it at all. His expression changed, but before he could do anything else, Destruction Lightning descended and engulfed him entirely.

Immediately afterward, the Destruction Lightning exploded, blowing apart the entire space and turning it into a Space Storm that swept across the Bifrost. The Bifrost held on for a while before vanishing completely into nothingness.

When the Space Storm subsided, Adam, Odin, and the Great Serpent appeared in the air at the same time. The difference was that Adam looked calm and unruffled, Odin was exhausted, and the Great Serpent was in tatters, with almost nothing left but bones.

Adam looked at Odin disdainfully. "Odin, you’re already done after one move? You’re kind of weak."

"I haven’t used such a big move in over a thousand years."

Odin sighed. The reason he was so exhausted was that the divine power within him was too vast, making it extremely difficult to control.

When he was younger, Odin could use a move like that nine times in one night.

"You’re just too greedy."

Adam shook his head. Wang Bert had taught Odin long ago how to solve the problem of excess divine power, but Odin had been unwilling to sacrifice too much of it and had refused to make the sacrifice.

Having too much divine power was indeed a burden, but when danger came, it could be used to fight desperately.

"Why did my hammer betray me? Why did my divine power fall into chaos?"

The weakened Great Serpent questioned Adam, "Satan, what exactly did you do?"

"It’s simple. I corrupted your hammer with the Evil Concept. It no longer belongs to you. It belongs to me."

Adam snorted. "As for your divine power, hmph, Great Serpent, Earth’s fear is not so easy to absorb."

The Great Serpent understood a little and roared angrily, "You added the power of chaos to the fear?"

"That’s right. Great Serpent, you truly don’t know whether you’re alive or dead. You actually dared set your sights on Earth. You’re dead for sure. I said so."

Adam spoke coldly. With his strength, tampering with fear was absurdly easy. After all, Earth was his territory.

"Dead for sure? Hmph, I am the God of Fear. I will never die."

The Great Serpent roared, and a large amount of Black Qi surged from his body. It then transformed into tens of thousands of black vipers that flew swiftly toward the Asgardian civilians on Back Mountain.

"Stop him! Those are Fear Serpents! They’ll turn Asgardian citizens into puppets and provide the Great Serpent with the power of fear!"

Odin was startled. He hurriedly raised Gungnir, and countless golden bolts of lightning crashed down simultaneously toward the vipers.

The vipers dodged nimbly. Although some were blasted apart by the lightning, most remained unharmed. Adam could not help shaking his head. Odin had not fought for too many years; he was no longer a true warrior.

Adam did not waste time. He clapped his palms together, and more than half the vipers rebelled, biting at the others. For a time, the two groups of vipers slaughtered each other.

"Where do you think you’re running?"

Then, Adam shook the void, forcibly jolting the Great Serpent’s figure into view. The Great Serpent’s expression was incomparably ugly. This Satan countered him far too perfectly.

Hell never lacked fear.

"Adam, he wants to go to the World Tree and absorb its source power. We absolutely can’t let him succeed."

Odin belatedly shouted. Adam rolled his eyes. If he had relied on Odin, the world would have been destroyed long ago. Asgardians truly did not have a single reliable one among them.

"Great Serpent, die."

Adam did not waste words. He recalled the Lucifer Greatsword and shattered the void with a slash, disrupting time as it struck down toward the Great Serpent. At the same time, the Fear Hammer suddenly appeared behind the Great Serpent and smashed toward his head.

The Great Serpent dodged the hammer while summoning countless vipers to bite Adam. Adam shook his greatsword, shattering every viper. Then, the blade continued toward the Great Serpent without slowing in the slightest.

The Great Serpent stared directly into Adam’s eyes, trying to trigger the fear in his heart, only to find that Adam possessed pitifully little fear—one could even say almost none at all.

"I’m an avatar of the Creator God. What do I have to fear?"

Adam sneered and slashed heavily across the Great Serpent’s chest. The Great Serpent was sent flying, and all the remaining flesh on his chest turned to ash, revealing two rows of ghastly white ribs.

At that moment, Odin appeared behind the Great Serpent and swung Gungnir, batting him toward Adam. Adam raised the Lucifer Greatsword and smacked the Great Serpent back toward Odin.

The Great Serpent was furious beyond measure. Were they using him as a ball?

"I curse you both to live in fear forever."

The Great Serpent gritted his teeth and used the Fear Concept along with his own flesh and blood to cast a curse. Two barely noticeable streams of Black Qi quietly flowed toward Adam and Odin. Odin noticed nothing wrong and raised Gungnir, preparing to hit the Great Serpent back again.

Just as the curse was about to succeed, Adam tapped a finger lightly. The two streams of Black Qi suddenly became utterly chaotic, then exploded at the same time and dissipated into the air.

As Hell’s Satan, Adam was extremely sensitive to curses. After all, they were the signature craft of Hell’s demons.

The Great Serpent’s heart sank. One method after another had failed, and coupled with his severe injuries, this battle looked hopeless no matter how he viewed it.

"Since I have no chance of winning, then we’ll perish together."

Determination flashed through the Great Serpent’s eyes. He had been sealed for thousands of years and absolutely did not want to be sealed again. More importantly, he would not truly die. Even if he fell, as long as fear remained in the Nine Realms, he would eventually revive.

Just as the Great Serpent was preparing to risk everything, a voice suddenly rang in his mind. "Great Serpent, I will use Black Magic to help expand your divine authority. At that time, you will not only absorb fear from the Nine Realms, but also fear from throughout the universe.

"Because of the insect race, the universe is now filled with fear. Once you obtain that fear, defeating Odin and Satan will not be a problem."

The Great Serpent froze, then asked, "Chthon? Why are you helping me?"

"Because I want to kill Satan."

Chthon spoke coldly. Although he was confident that his true body could easily erase Adam after descending, as a wise man, he would not let any opportunity slip away.

The Great Serpent asked again, "What must I pay? Great Demon God Chthon never helps anyone without reason."

Chthon said, "I want you to help me kill Satan."

"No problem."

The Great Serpent nodded readily. "I want to kill that bastard too."

It was worth mentioning that the Great Serpent and Chthon were communicating mentally. With their mental strength, no matter how much they said, only an instant passed outside.

"Very well. Repeat the incantation after me."

Chthon nodded in satisfaction and said, "I am the Lord of Fear…"

"I am the Lord of Fear…"

The Great Serpent followed the incantation. As he continued chanting, his soul gradually formed a connection with the source of universal fear. Next, as long as he gained the recognition of the fear source, he would be able to absorb fear from the universe.

"Chthon truly deserves to be called the ancestor of Black Magic. He even knows the incantation for connecting to the fear source."

The Great Serpent marveled. At that moment, a greatsword slashed out from the void, forcibly severing the connection between the Great Serpent and the source of fear. The Great Serpent suffered backlash, screamed miserably, and vomited blood mouthful after mouthful.

Adam pressed his advantage without mercy. He forcibly opened a Hell Channel, then flew up and kicked the Great Serpent toward it.

"No!"

The Great Serpent roared as a large number of black vipers surged from his body and bit into the void, keeping him from being banished.

Odin sighed and summoned lightning that filled the sky, blasting the black vipers. The Great Serpent let out an unwilling roar as he was banished into Hell.

"You brought this upon yourself."

Adam snorted and hurled the Lucifer Greatsword forcefully into the Space Channel. The Lucifer Greatsword returned to Hell and transformed into a towering mountain, suppressing the Great Serpent beneath it.

The Great Serpent struggled desperately, but the mountain was connected to all of Hell. In his severely wounded state, he had no way to break free and was firmly pinned beneath it.

"Odin, Satan, I will never let you go!" the Great Serpent roared, filled with endless unwillingness and bone-deep hatred.

"The howling of a defeated dog."

Adam smiled disdainfully and said to Odin, "After this war ends, I’ll deal with him completely."

"In your Earth terms, this is his retribution."

Odin shook his head and did not plead for the Great Serpent. Rather than live in hatred, it would be better to start over. At worst, Odin could take him as a disciple and teach him carefully.

No matter what, Asgard’s Ragnarok had finally come to a complete end. The Odin royal family and Asgard had been preserved.

If it had only been Asgard, they certainly would not have been able to stop the Great Serpent. Fortunately, Odin had been clever enough to find a powerful backer early on. With the Blood God present, the Great Serpent truly amounted to nothing.

Odin asked curiously, "How did you know he was connecting to the source of fear?"

"Because my eyes can see through everything."

Adam did not explain further. He asked, "Odin, will you take part in the upcoming war?"

"No. I’m old. I can’t fight anymore."

Odin waved his hand and said, "The Great Serpent has been dealt with. It’s time for me to retire completely. From now on, Thor will be fully responsible for Asgard. I’ll formally crown him."

Adam asked with a smile, "Are you sure?"

Odin thought of something, and his face darkened slightly. No matter how one looked at it, Thor was not a qualified king.

When Odin used magic to see the battle in the Domain of Death, his old face darkened even further. Everyone else was fighting desperately, while Thor was merely "playing" with Fenrir, occasionally even ramming his own head into Fenrir’s.

"What a disgrace to the family."

Odin sighed. It seemed that even if Ragnarok had been stopped, retirement would not come so easily for him.

On the Chthon Prime Plane, Astros sneered. "Chthon, you failed again."

"Just an idle move."

Chthon spoke blandly, but his eyes narrowed. There truly was something wrong with Adam.

After reviewing the previous battle, Chthon had clearly sensed that something was off. Adam had been far too at ease. That should not have been possible, considering he was Chthon.

Chthon had helped the Great Serpent both to make a move on the board and to test Adam. The result proved that Adam truly had a problem—he had known in advance that Chthon would help the Great Serpent.

"How did Satan do it? Could it be a Time Concept that lets him see the future? No, even if Satan could see the future, he could not see it so clearly. At most, he could see one or two fragments. After all, I am a Great Demon God."

Chthon thought to himself, Forget that for now. I need to change tactics against Satan. The question is, will Satan anticipate that?

"Given Chthon’s nature, he will definitely test you. After all, you won too easily before."

Before Adam acted against the Great Serpent, Zombie Universe Chthon had reminded him, "The Great Serpent is a decent chess piece. Chthon should use him to test you. You can play along and severely injure the Great Serpent."

Adam asked, "But will that expose your existence?"

"Does that matter? No matter how he schemes, it will be useless, because the one fighting him in the final battle won’t be you."

Zombie Universe Chthon said, "The Blood God’s avatar will handle Chthon. In other words, no matter how much he schemes, it will all be for nothing."

"That’s true. Ha, his expression will definitely be wonderful then."

Adam laughed. Bald Wang Bert did not need Zombie Universe Chthon’s assistance. As long as Chthon entered Fair Space, defeat was inevitable. There was no doubt about it.

This was not only because Fair Space was immensely powerful, but also because Bald Wang Bert knew every spell and every method Chthon possessed.

Home-field advantage, along with complete knowledge of the enemy—there was no reason to lose.

With the Asgard war over, let us turn our attention back to the Domain of Death. At this moment, Hela had completely fallen into a disadvantage. She was being besieged by Little Hela, Carol, Hulk, Iron Man, and other Super Heroes. As for the Demon Gods, fewer than ten remained alive.

Little Hela shouted, "Hela, surrender. Don’t keep making one mistake after another."

"What is wrong with maintaining the Universe Balance? Hela, I will not surrender, and neither will Asgard."

Hela shouted. If she surrendered, it would not only be her defeat, but Asgard’s as well—Asgard would be reduced from a divine kingdom to Earth’s vassal.

Hela could not accept that. Besides, she was not wrong. Maintaining the Universe Balance was the duty of death gods like them.

"Asgard has nothing to do with you. Asgard is mine."

Thor turned around in the distance and roared. Fenrir smacked him flying with one paw, looking utterly helpless. He had said it already—do not get distracted during battle.

Tony complained, "What exactly is that guy here for? He’s just over there playing with a dog."

"At least he’s holding back one… dog on the enemy side."

Mindy said. Damon glared at her and said, "Why are you stating the obvious?"

Everyone burst into laughter. Odin’s face had turned so dark it was nearly purple. What a disgrace to the family, what a disgrace to the family.
