Taking Wolf Lord Away, Back to Being Little Ha

Su Yu looked at Wolf Lord speechlessly. Sure enough, calling him Third Ha had been the right choice. He was clearly living a miserable life, yet he had the nerve to call it personality.

"Alright, alright, stop joking around. Since there’s nothing you need to take, let’s head back to the city," Su Yu said.

Wolf Lord nodded. "Oh."

After Su Yu paid for the meal, he was about to leave with Wolf Lord. But the moment the two reached the village entrance, they were stopped by a group of villagers carrying hammers. A middle-aged man shouted, "You can’t take Wolf Lord away from here!"

Su Yu smiled. "Why can’t I take him away? Are you his father or his mother? Is it any of your business?"

"You! Anyway, you can’t take him away! He belongs to our Ancient Style Village!" the middle-aged man yelled, his face turning red.

Su Yu sneered. Having heard Wolf Lord’s story, he had immediately guessed what kind of people these villagers were. "Heh, what? You think if I take him away, Ancient Style Village won’t have a guard dog anymore?"

These villagers had completely treated Wolf Lord like a dog—a dog used to intimidate the other villages. Why did Su Yu say they treated Wolf Lord like a dog? From what Wolf Lord had said, how he sometimes had no food to eat and no stable place to live, it was obvious that these villagers had never sincerely cared for him. Only this foolish wolf still couldn’t see it!

"You! Nonsense! Get out of our Ancient Style Village right now! Our village doesn’t welcome you!" the villagers immediately shouted in fury.

Wolf Lord watched the scene, and his heart instantly turned cold. He had previously thought he had nowhere to live only because Ancient Style Village had no spare houses, and that he could not eat his fill because the villagers here were poor as well. But after seeing this today, he seemed to understand everything. He was not stupid; he was merely inexperienced in dealing with the world and ignorant of how sinister people’s hearts could be.

Su Yu said disdainfully, "Do you know that the sight of you makes me sick? Move aside. I’m taking him away today, and if you keep trying to stop me, don’t blame me for being rude!"

"Do you believe we’ll report you to the authorities and have you arrested right now?" a fat woman shrieked.

"Heh, the saying that harsh mountains and wicked waters breed troublesome people is not without reason. There are many kind and honest commoners in this world, but there are also plenty of selfish ones!" Su Yu said contemptuously, looking coldly at the villagers.

As he spoke, Su Yu took out the guqin on his back. The guqin floated in midair, and the villagers’ legs began trembling in fear. Su Yu leaped onto the guqin and looked at Wolf Lord. "Get on."

Wolf Lord nodded and jumped up behind Su Yu. Su Yu directly rode the zither away. A voice rose from among the villagers. "Did we just offend a Celestial Being? It’s over, it’s over. We’re completely finished."

The middle-aged man was drenched in sweat. He swallowed and shouted, "Don’t talk nonsense! What Celestial Being rides a zither? Celestial Beings ride swords! Th-that must be a demon! Yes, a demon! Little Wu, hurry to Yu Zhou City and report it to the authorities!"

"Right, right, it must be a demon!"

The group immediately began deceiving themselves to comfort one another.

Yu Zhou City

Su Yu brought Wolf Lord to the outskirts of Yu Zhou City and got down from the guqin. The two entered the city, and Wolf Lord’s eyes gleamed. "Boss, how come you ride a guqin? Don’t cultivators all ride swords???"

"Who told you cultivators can only ride swords?" Su Yu said, waving a hand at Wolf Lord.

Wolf Lord immediately sank into deep thought. That was right—why could cultivators only ride swords?

Su Yu ignored the contemplative Wolf Lord and led him back to Meng Qi’s home.

There were only three rooms in Meng Qi’s house: one for Old Man Meng, one for Meng Qi, and one for Su Yu. There were no rooms left. Su Yu looked around the courtyard and said, "Little Ha, you’ll sleep in my room tonight."

Wolf Lord froze and asked in confusion, "Why have I become Little Ha again???"

Su Yu said flatly, "Contradicting your boss means one meal deducted."

"No, no, no, Boss! Call me whatever you like, just don’t hold it against Little Ha!" Wolf Lord nearly burst into tears. Food was his life—he had to protect his life!

Su Yu smiled. "Correcting your mistakes is the greatest good. Fine, I won’t deduct your meal."

"Thank you, Boss. Thank you, Boss." Wolf Lord was so moved he nearly cried.

Su Yu could only smile bitterly and rub his forehead at Wolf Lord’s appearance. This wolf was really too silly.

That evening

Old Man Meng and Meng Qi returned. The instant Old Man Meng saw Wolf Lord, he became alert. It could not be helped—Wolf Lord looked exactly like a vicious bandit.

Su Yu hurriedly said, "Old Man Meng, don’t be afraid. His name is Little Ha, and he’s one of my subordinates."

"Oh, Little Yu, are you leaving?" Old Man Meng asked, his tone filled with obvious reluctance.

Since even Su Yu’s subordinate had arrived, Old Man Meng naturally asked that question.

Meng Qi immediately became anxious. Su Yu smiled and said, "No, Little Ha is a subordinate I recruited today, not someone from home."

"I see. Then Little Qi and I can share a room and free one up for Li… Little Ha," Old Man Meng said. He truly could not understand why Wolf Lord, who looked like a bandit, was named Little Ha.

Su Yu shook his head. "Old Man Meng, there’s no need. He can sleep with me."

"How could that do? It’s fine, I can sleep with Little Qi," Old Man Meng said.

Su Yu gave a bitter smile. "Old Man Meng, please stop. Let him sleep with me. It’s not like I can’t sleep with someone else."

"Alright, then. If you aren’t used to it, Little Yu, just tell me, and I’ll clear out a room for Little Ha," Old Man Meng said.

Su Yu nodded slightly, and Wolf Lord was thus arranged to sleep with Su Yu. After Old Man Meng left, Su Yu looked at Wolf Lord and said, "Little Ha, get some water and wash yourself thoroughly. Then change into these clothes."

As he spoke, Su Yu took out the black robe Tang Kun had once given him and handed it to Wolf Lord.

Wolf Lord emotionally wiped his eyes. "Boss, you’re so good to me! I’ll follow you from now on. Even if you don’t feed me, I’ll still follow you!"

"…Scram, scram, scram. I can afford to feed you a few meals!" Su Yu said, kicking Wolf Lord in the butt.

Wolf Lord grinned and ran off to bathe. Who knew how many years it had been since he last washed himself? In one minute, he had turned an entire bucket of water black. He used five full buckets before finally getting clean, then changed into the black robe.

Wolf Lord’s build was about the same as Su Yu’s, so the robe fit him perfectly. After bathing, Su Yu felt as though Wolf Lord had become a completely different person. A bandit had turned into a scholar.

Su Yu felt that as long as Wolf Lord did not speak, ninety percent of people would think he was a scholar upon seeing him.
