Tarot XXI The World Reversed

Homelander spread his arms as if God were embracing his people. His face was flushed, and he had never seemed more energized.

"Homelander!"

"Homelander!"

Below him, the vast crowd stretched beyond sight.

This was the largest protest mobilization in American history, perhaps one that would never be surpassed.

Without Homelander’s power keeping things in check, no government would tolerate a riot on such a massive scale.

Popi and the other B45 members marched at the very front. He wore the same fanatical expression, holding up a sign that read "Make America Great Again." In his view, the government’s weakness and its total control by capital were the direct reasons ordinary people like them lived such miserable lives.

And a powerful superhero like Homelander, one willing to consider matters from their perspective, could not have been more suitable.

The police and military lines retreated again and again. Rather than stopping Homelander’s advance, they seemed to be leading the way for him.

In truth, the police officers and soldiers on the front lines had little desire to fight a monster like Homelander.

They were just workers collecting a paycheck. Who would willingly fight a monster impervious to bullets and blades? All it took was one blast of Heat Vision, and everyone would be slaughtered like insects.

Anss’s shoulder had been shattered, and he was still receiving treatment. George stayed at Bai Cangshu’s side. Looking at the fanatical expressions of the people around them, he felt increasingly uneasy.

"Boss, what should we do next? If this keeps up, I’m afraid it’ll cause massive chaos…"

He spent a lot of time online, and thanks to B45’s rising influence, he had become a major internet celebrity himself. At the same time, he was highly sensitive to all kinds of public opinion incidents. He now realized that what Homelander and the rest of them were doing was no different from provoking a civil war.

They were coercing hundreds of thousands of people into launching internal unrest and forcing the government to yield.

Whether it was the Democratic Party or the Republican Party, the government would never tolerate this. If it took even one step back now, it would lose all authority.

George even felt as though countless sniper rifles, cannons, and missiles were aimed at him at this very moment. All it would take was an order from someone in the government.

Other than Homelander, everyone present would likely be reduced to corpses.

Bai Cangshu patted the Black man, who had retained a trace of rationality and had not been completely swept up by the crowd. He grabbed George by the neck and pulled him closer, an inexplicably chilling, wicked smile on his face as he spoke.

"George, are you afraid of death?"

George panicked even more at his boss’s question and nodded.

"Then run, George. Use every survival instinct you have and run!"

"This place will soon become hell…"

Bai Cangshu did not know what methods Kalpa possessed, but he knew one thing clearly: neither Kalpa nor the American Federation government could possibly sit by and watch Homelander continue like this.

They would certainly do everything in their power to deal with Homelander.

Soldier Boy had once been just as powerful, yet he had still been captured, brainwashed, and eventually imprisoned.

And there were no shortage of powerful Supernatural Ability Users in this world. Compound V could even grant ordinary people temporary superpowers through direct injection.

Though its use would most likely produce severe side effects, politicians would naturally use it as long as it offered a solution.

Bai Cangshu looked up at Homelander, flying overhead as though he now possessed the entire world, his face carrying a cold hint of pity.

Main Mission 2, current completion: B+. Settle now?

"No."

After Bai Cangshu killed The Deep, Main Mission 2 had already reached its minimum completion level. After killing Evil Child and the Reincarnator traveling with him, its rating had risen to B+.

He could leave at any time, but he stayed to stir up greater chaos, kill more powerful foes, secure greater rewards, and… kill Kalpa…

George was utterly flustered after hearing Bai Cangshu’s words. He looked back at the people around him, every one of them shouting themselves hoarse. Then he suddenly turned and rushed out of the crowd, struggling with all his might to run outside.

He wanted to leave this procession.

Bai Cangshu did not stop him. Light flashed in his hand, and the blue Drop Card was crushed.

Stormfront’s Drop Card was only blue quality, but what it yielded was quite good.

Bai Cangshu then casually picked up that special card again. He rubbed its surface, and it instantly sliced open his finger. This alone was extremely unusual.

Even after suffering corruption, Bai Cangshu’s Constitution was still as high as 13 points, nearly three times that of an ordinary person. His skin was incredibly tough and could not possibly be pierced by something like a card.

Yet blood now flowed again across its smooth surface.

Special item bound
Sequence: Tarot, activation commencing...

Within Bai Cangshu’s field of vision, the card in his hand began to change. Unlike the Great Sin Card he had obtained before, no crimson writing appeared upon this card.

Instead, immense amounts of radiance began to appear around it, converging toward the card.

Bit by bit, that radiance engraved a new image onto the black back of the card.

Against a sky backdrop, emerald leaves formed a doorway. A naked Goddess, draped in a thin veil, danced within the doorway with her back turned. In the center of the card appeared the symbol XXI.

Sequence fixed. Tarot: The World Reversed (XXI) successfully bound
Activating... Activation failed. Reincarnator Ex051's Innate Ability has not been anchored.

Bai Cangshu watched the radiance slowly dissipate, leaving behind a card in his hand that had completely taken on the appearance of a Tarot Card.

This was clearly different from the failure to activate Wuxin had described. Wuxin had said that without the qualifications, the card would not change at all.

But Bai Cangshu now knew for certain that this card was one of the twenty-two special cards Professor had called "Twenty-Two Tarot, bestowed upon the chosen."

And it was The World, the card that symbolized the end and conclusion in the Tarot.

"Tch, so it’s not The Fool Card? I always thought I was some kind of protagonist."

Bai Cangshu mocked himself without the slightest concern.

At the same time, the fact that he could make this card change also proved something.

Bai Cangshu had not expected that he, too, was one of the so-called Chosen. Yet it seemed no Reincarnator had discovered him in advance, and… he had not received the special treatment the Space described for the Chosen.

Did his situation even count as being Chosen?

He knew that those questions could probably only be answered once he returned to the Space. For now, he ought to cooperate with Kalpa and completely bring this country crashing down…

The victor would take the resulting High-level Singularity and every other reward. The loser… would eat dust!
