Teleportation

The professor’s words left Storm utterly puzzled. "Why? Psylocke’s existence is greatly beneficial to us mutants."

"Psylocke’s existence will make many mutants lean toward coexistence with humans, and Erik will never allow that. Besides, in his eyes, Psylocke protecting humans is a betrayal of mutants."

The professor said, "Ororo, I want you to secretly protect Psylocke for a while. Can you do that?"

"No problem, but what about my classes?"

Storm asked. Besides being an X-Man, she was also a teacher at the academy.

"I’ll have Jean take your place. She’s been rather troubled lately anyway… Huh."

As the professor spoke, he suddenly sensed something and said, "Logan has left the academy."

"Didn’t we say no one could leave during this time? Why did he go?"

Storm asked anxiously, "What if he runs into Azazel?"

Azazel had secretly infiltrated the academy some time ago. Fortunately, the professor had been prepared and driven him away, but Azazel had not given up and had been lingering outside the academy ever since.

That was precisely why the professor had forbidden everyone from leaving.

"He isn’t a teacher or a student. The rules don’t apply to him."

The professor said with a headache, "Call him and tell him to come back."

"Okay."

Storm immediately took out her phone, but unfortunately, no one answered. Storm sighed and said, "Either he forgot to bring his phone, or he’s speeding and doesn’t have time to answer."

After thinking for a moment, the professor said, "You and Jean drive out to find him. I’ll attach some Mind Power to you. Let’s hope Azazel doesn’t make a move on Logan."

"Hard to say. Azazel hasn’t left all this time. That’s very unusual."

Storm shook her head, turned to find Jean, and then the two set off together in a car.

"Ha ha ha, Cyclops’s bike is really something."

On the highway, Wolverine roared with laughter as he sped along. Cyclops’s motorcycle had been modified for vastly increased speed, and Wolverine loved it to death.

Wolverine, racing wildly, did not notice a red figure watching him from the sky. It was none other than the mutant Azazel.

"At last, someone important has left the academy. If I catch him, I’ll be able to learn about my child."

Azazel muttered excitedly. Then, he turned into red mist and kept teleporting behind Wolverine.

At first, Azazel’s target had only been Rogue. But after entering the academy, he sensed an aura from the same origin as his own. In other words, one of his children was in the academy.

Azazel had many children, but only one had ended up lost outside: Nightcrawler. Azazel had searched for him for years, never expecting him to be at Mutant Academy.

Unfortunately, before Azazel could do anything, the professor discovered him. To avoid being controlled by the professor, he could only teleport away first.

If there had only been Rogue, Azazel would have gone back for reinforcements. Mystique’s ability could evade the professor’s senses. But since Nightcrawler was here, Mystique absolutely could not be allowed to learn about this.

Nightcrawler had ended up abandoned precisely because of Mystique.

For the past few days, Azazel had been waiting outside the academy for an opportunity. Now, that opportunity had arrived. As long as he captured Wolverine, he could obtain information about Nightcrawler, then use it to take his son away from the academy.

Capturing Wolverine was no challenge at all for Azazel. He was simply waiting for the other man to stop—at such high speeds, he could not teleport with another person.

He waited for over ten minutes. Wolverine passed a gas station and stopped, preparing to go in and buy a bottle of water.

"Now."

Azazel suddenly appeared behind Wolverine, who had just gotten off his bike. He placed a hand on Wolverine’s shoulder, and in the next breath, both of them vanished.

At an altitude of ten thousand meters, Azazel and Wolverine appeared at the same time. Wolverine instinctively extended his claws and stabbed backward, but he was a step too late. Azazel turned into red mist and vanished, while Wolverine immediately began free-falling.

"What the hell?"

Wolverine was completely dumbfounded. One second he had been standing on solid ground, and the next he was ten thousand meters in the air. Worse still, he had no parachute.

"Is this karma for stealing Cyclops’s bike?"

Amid the raging airflow, Wolverine was helpless and had no idea what to do. Wolves were not creatures that generally played in the sky.

Azazel suddenly appeared some distance away, his face brimming with smug satisfaction. He knew Wolverine, as well as his immortality and Adamantium skeleton, but so what? Falling from ten thousand meters up would turn Wolverine into pulp. Then Azazel could pack him up and take him back, letting him regenerate slowly.

He, Azazel, would not be like some idiotic teleporter who kept teleporting around right next to an enemy. Even more foolishly, that person had not even brought a weapon and fought with fists. A teleporter like that deserved to get stabbed to death.

"Am I really going to fall to my death? Wait, BOSS seems to have given me some kind of lifesaving device."

Wolverine was in despair when he suddenly remembered something. He hurriedly raised his right hand and slapped the watch on his left wrist.

Wang Bert had given him that watch and told him to use it in an emergency—it could save his life. Wolverine had thought he would never need it, yet he had barely left the academy before being ambushed.

"I wonder what kind of trump card BOSS put in this watch?"

Wolverine was full of curiosity, but to his shock, nothing happened for the next ten seconds or so, except that he drew closer and closer to the ground.

"Damn it, that brat Bert Wang set me up."

Wolverine cursed inwardly. Just then, a figure appeared out of nowhere beside him, grabbed his shoulder, and disappeared.

When they reappeared, they were back at the gas station below. At the same time, all the impact force on Wolverine’s body vanished—it had been transferred away by Space Power.

Wang Bert said to Wolverine, "Sorry, I was taking a leak. Your timing was terrible."

Still shaken, Wolverine shook his head and complained, "The trump card you gave me was you coming here to save me personally?"

"Is there anyone more reliable than me?"

Wang Bert said as he wiped his hands on Wolverine’s clothes. Wolverine laughed. "Fair enough. Wait, did you wash your hands? Why are you wiping them all over my clothes?"

Wang Bert snapped, "What do you think? If I didn’t wash them, where did the water come from? Do you think I’m like you, already starting to split?"

Wolverine said smugly, "I have an immortal body. I won’t split."

"Immortality has that benefit too?"

As Wang Bert spoke, a cloud of red mist appeared ahead and formed into Azazel. He asked in surprise, "Bert Wang, you can teleport too?"

"What’s so strange about that? Who are you, and why are you trying to capture Wolverine?"

Wang Bert asked. Mutants were different from Inhumans. Inhumans could not have the same abilities, but mutants had no such restriction. There were quite a few teleporters among them.

Azazel said coldly, "I am Azazel of the Mutant Brotherhood. Bert Wang, hand over Wolverine and I’ll let you leave. Otherwise, don’t blame me for getting rough."

"I’d like to see how rough you can get."

Wang Bert sneered. Wolverine, having narrowly escaped death, angrily asked, "Why did you capture me? I don’t even know you."

Wang Bert said, "Given your track record, you probably slept with his wife. Uncle Wolf, you should be decent."

"Get lost! Do you think I’m that kind of person?"

Wolverine shouted unhappily.

Wang Bert merely stared at Wolverine without saying anything. Wolverine’s old face reddened. It did seem a little possible. He looked up at Azazel and said, "If I really slept with your wife, I apologize. But I’m not letting this slide after you tried to kill me."

"Shut up! I don’t have a wife!"

Azazel was starting to lose it. He roared, "Bert Wang, I’ll give you one last chance. Leave. Your teleportation is child’s play compared to mine."

"Ha, interesting. Very interesting."

Wang Bert could not help laughing. Someone actually dared to tell him, the Space Lord, your teleportation is child’s play compared to mine. He had seen plenty of people courting death, but never anyone courting it this hard.

What was that saying again? Showing off an axe before Lu Ban, talking about teleportation before the Space Lord.

"You’re asking for death."

Azazel stopped wasting words and suddenly disappeared. Wang Bert swung a palm behind him. At the same time, Azazel appeared out of thin air, his right cheek colliding with Wang Bert’s palm. With a smack, he flew away.

Wolverine blinked and asked, "What’s wrong with this guy? Did he come over on purpose to let you hit him?"

Wang Bert shrugged. "How would I know? Sigh, people these days really have no morals. He actually used his face to attack my hand."

"This is impossible."

Azazel was somewhat dazed. Unwilling to accept it, he teleported again. Wang Bert swung a slap toward his front left, and Azazel appeared out of nowhere, spun one thousand and eighty degrees through the air with a smack, and crashed to the ground.

"Ha ha, that felt great."

Wolverine extended his claws and charged at Azazel. Azazel was shocked and hurriedly turned into red mist before vanishing.

Wang Bert suddenly appeared in midair and violently swung his right hand forward. In the next breath, Azazel appeared out of thin air, once again delivering his face right before Wang Bert’s right hand.

With another smack, Azazel flew away. Wolverine roared, leaped up from the ground, and stabbed his claws toward Azazel as he fell from the sky.

Azazel turned into mist and disappeared. This time, he teleported over ten thousand meters away. Yet the moment he emerged, Wang Bert’s palm was right in front of him. The familiar smack rang out once more.

Bang! Azazel crashed heavily to the ground. His face swollen from the blows, he roared at Wang Bert, "Impossible! How do you know where I’m going to teleport?"

"Because I can see it."

Wang Bert said blandly. Space held no secrets before him. At Azazel’s level, he was not even worthy of shining Wang Bert’s shoes.

"Just you wait. I won’t let you get away with this."

Azazel did not dare keep fighting Wang Bert. He turned into red mist and vanished. This time, he intended to teleport to Australia. He refused to believe Wang Bert could still follow him there.

Yet the moment Azazel appeared, he saw that familiar palm again. With a smack, he crashed to the ground once more.

"Why don’t you try running to the moon?"

Wang Bert sneered. In fact, he could teleport to the moon too. The problem was that this world did not have a moon at all. The moon in the sky was merely a projection of the moon outside.

The Space Lord—did you think that was a joke? "Bert Wang, you’re asking for death."

Azazel was furious beyond measure. He went all out, teleporting madly around Wang Bert. This was his ultimate move: disrupting space through teleportation and creating spatial ripples to shred his opponent.

This move was powerful, but it consumed enormous energy. After using it, Azazel would be weak for a while.

"Boring."

Wang Bert casually swung his hand. With a smack, Azazel was sent flying again. His face was full of shock and disbelief. Bert Wang could actually hit him at his limit? How was that possible?

"You have no idea what space truly is."

Wang Bert smiled disdainfully and waved a hand. Both he and Azazel disappeared. When they reappeared, they were back beside Wolverine.

"You can teleport me without even touching me?"

Azazel was completely stunned. Wang Bert’s power far exceeded his imagination.

"You’re too low-level. You wouldn’t understand even if I explained it."

Wang Bert said, "Logan, get the information out of him within ten minutes. I have a meeting later, so we can’t waste time."

Wolverine asked, "Can he teleport again?"

"Don’t worry, he can’t. I’ve temporarily sealed his teleportation ability."

"You sealed my teleportation ability? Impossible!"

Azazel was horrified. He hurriedly tried to teleport, but nothing happened.

Wolverine laughed. "Then this is easy. I guarantee that in five minutes, he’ll obediently tell us everything, including his wife’s measurements."

"I told you, I don’t have a wife!"

Azazel shouted angrily, "Bert Wang, I’m with the Mutant Brotherhood. If you dare touch me, Magneto won’t let you off."

"As if I’m afraid of the Mutant Brotherhood."

Wang Bert sneered and gestured for Wolverine to hurry up. Wolverine nodded and flicked his wrist, extending his claws.

Azazel was terrified out of his wits and was about to say something when an antique car came speeding over.

Storm and Jean got out of the car. Seeing that Wolverine was unharmed, Storm sighed in relief, then said unhappily, "Logan, the professor said you weren’t allowed to leave the academy."

"I’m not from your academy."

Wolverine shrugged. At that moment, Jean noticed Wang Bert and Azazel and asked in surprise, "Mr. Wang, why are you here? Huh, you actually captured Azazel?"

"You captured Azazel?"

Storm was especially incredulous. Azazel was one of the hardest mutants in the world to capture.

"I came out for a stroll and happened to see Logan doing some free-falling."

Wang Bert smiled. "You know this guy?"

Storm introduced him, "His name is Azazel, Magneto’s right-hand man. He’s been secretly eyeing the academy these days. That’s why the professor won’t let anyone leave."

"No wonder. Ladies, please step aside. Things may get a little brutal next."

Wolverine said with a savage look. Azazel hurriedly shouted, "Jean Grey, Storm, are you going to destroy the understanding between us?"

"Logan, wait."

Jean hurriedly said, "You can’t torture him. We’re good people."

Wolverine snorted. "You’re good people. BOSS and I aren’t."

"Hey, don’t drag me into this. I’m a great guy, a famous philanthropist."

Wang Bert said. Rich people at his level were basically all philanthropists, because charity could reduce taxes.
