The Emergence

"Eternal life really is something to envy."

As Kingge left, Chen Mu could not help but sigh.

Still, after living for 7,000 years, those Eternals did not seem to have made much progress. They were ridiculously weak.

If China’s ancestors had been given such long lives, China would probably have left Earth long ago.

If nothing else, give Qin Shi Huang 7,000 years to live, and perhaps the flags of the Qin Dynasty would have been planted across the entire galaxy.

In Chen Mu’s original world, Eternals had been a film made to cater to America’s increasingly extreme political correctness, and it had received a flood of terrible reviews.

Leaving aside Phastos mourning Hiroshima in Eternals, the bizarre settings crammed into that movie alone were enough to leave people speechless.

To demonstrate gender equality, the ten Eternals had been forcibly split into five men and five women.

To show that there was no racial discrimination, those ten Eternals all had appearances from different ethnic groups.

To show that there was no discrimination against disabled people, one of the Eternals was even deaf and mute.

And Phastos, the one who mourned Hiroshima, was the very embodiment of political correctness.

He was Black, fat, and gay. In short, the movie had been an utter mess in its attempt to cater to America’s political correctness.

However, in this world, the Eternals possessed endless lifespans, so their strength naturally could not be underestimated.

Although these Eternals all seemed somewhat "crippled," if their technology could be perfected and they could become flawless Eternals, their power would still be formidable.

"With China’s industrial capabilities, there is no way to create Eternals. But the system, which can produce the necessary materials out of nothing, can do it."

After all, the Eternals were a race created by the Celestials. Though they resembled robots, the materials used to make them could not be found on Earth at all.

Trying to manufacture them using China’s industrial capabilities—or even Earth’s capabilities—was simply impossible.

Therefore, turning the Eternals into a source of power for China would still be difficult.

Unless Chen Mu kept using the system to manufacture them. But relying solely on Chen Mu’s system would make that difficult as well.

"The higher the grade and the stronger the item, the more time its production will consume."

Chen Mu checked. Creating an incomplete, technology-limited Eternal comparable to Kingge would take a full month. This was the longest production time the system had ever required.

"To be honest, the incomplete version of the Eternals isn’t much good. It would be better to make a technological breakthrough first."

Although he had already obtained the Eternals technology from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Chen Mu planned to upgrade it first because it had such obvious flaws.

"Even the upgrade will take a month?"

Still, he could afford to wait.

Chen Mu, who pursued perfection, immediately began the upgrade research without hesitation.

It was only one month. It would pass quickly.

To Chen Mu, the Eternals were the most technologically advanced creation he had encountered so far.

After all, they were creations of the Celestials, far beyond anything ordinary.

Chen Mu had always felt that his own strength was too weak. Though he did not care much about personal power and was not obsessed with it, strengthening himself through Eternal technology would bring him nothing but benefits.

Besides, even if he could not use the technology to modify himself, he could still create a couple of Eternal bodyguards.

With the Eternals’ power, they could completely guarantee his safety.

If perfected Eternals could reach the abilities of the originals, then their strength would undoubtedly rank among the very best in this universe.

With two perfect Eternals, even if Thanos, the half-Eternal, came looking for trouble with Chen Mu, he would only be able to walk in upright and leave lying down.

Among the Eternals on Earth, Ikaris was probably the strongest combatant. He could fly, possessed tremendous physical abilities, and could release cosmic energy through his eyes, much like Superman’s heat vision in DC comics.

With super strength, super speed, immense physical power, and high-speed flight, Ikaris was indeed somewhat similar to Superman in terms of abilities.

Besides that, Ikaris could use cosmic energy to create energy shields and block all kinds of attacks.

He could be called an extremely well-rounded warrior.

The Eternals also possessed many other superpowers, such as illusions, mind control, and weapon manifestation. In short, they had a wide variety of abilities.

Perfect Eternals generally combined several of those abilities. Flight, super speed, and super strength were basically standard equipment. In truth, they were not much different from Superman over in DC.

Of course, there was no need to compare them to broken existences like Silver Age Superman, Cosmic Armor Superman, or Superman Prime.

But a perfect Eternal would have no problem measuring up against the Superman from Man of Steel.

In fact, both the Eternals and their enemies, the Deviants, had been created by the Celestials.

Their original purpose was to protect the growth of intelligent life. Once the number of intelligent beings on a planet reached a certain threshold, the Emergence would begin, sacrificing that vast population of intelligent life to birth a new member of the Celestials.

However, the Deviants changed while protecting humanity and became new predators, threatening humanity’s survival. Thus, the Eternals were created to fight the Deviants and protect humanity. They had even been deliberately designed to look exactly like humans because of this.

In reality, whether Eternals or Deviants, the meaning of their existence was to allow the seed of a Celestial to be born and enable the "Emergence" to occur.

And once the Emergence occurred, the planet it took place on would inevitably be completely destroyed.

Now, there was a Celestial seed on Earth. Once the number of intelligent lifeforms—namely humans—reached a certain level, the Emergence would begin.

At that time, Earth would also be destroyed, and a new Celestial would be born.

"So now there’s another task."

After recalling the plot of Eternals, Chen Mu could not help falling into deep thought.

His goal was to make China great and return it to its peak. But if someone wanted to destroy Earth, then that goal would certainly never be accomplished.

Therefore, no matter what, he had to stop this so-called Emergence.

Of course, Chen Mu was also extremely interested in the Celestials.

If the system could analyze the Celestials as well, then things would become interesting.

Rubbing his chin, Chen Mu could not help entertaining that thought.

"Never mind that for now. I’ll make some Eternals first."

Although the Eternals could be considered robots, they were actually living beings just like humans. They had their own thoughts, and even their loves and hates were no different from those of humans.

The Celestials had created the Eternals as though creating people, and now, with the system, Chen Mu could do the same.

Of course, the Celestials could manufacture Eternals in large quantities. Chen Mu, however, could only rely on the system to create them one by one, slowly.
