The Fear of Being Ruled by the Coin of Fate
"Ronan!"
Feeling the surging power within him, Drax the Destroyer let out a roar, drew his twin blades, and charged at Ronan. "You deserve to die!"
After Fang Mo’s enhancement, the tattoos all over Drax’s body glowed with white light, making him look like Fahai capable of using the Great Dragon of Dharma—fierce beyond belief. Even though Ronan’s body had been modified by the Kree Empire’s most advanced technology, he did not dare take the blow head-on and quickly bent backward to evade the blade stabbing toward his face.
Unlike Drax’s broad, aggressive fighting style, Ronan’s combat emphasized speed, precision, and ruthlessness.
After bending backward to avoid Drax’s attack, Ronan immediately counterattacked. He braced one hand against the ground, twisted his body, and swung his Hammer in a massive arc straight at the back of Drax’s head.
Drax’s skull collided solidly with the warhammer, producing a dull thud.
Yet the expected sight of brains splattering never came. Drax merely staggered instinctively before immediately turning back to glare viciously at Ronan.
"You treacherous Hammer man."
Drax said coldly, "I hate men who use Hammers the most. They’re weapons for idiots!"
"You…"
Ronan seemed as if he wanted to say something, but Drax gave him no chance. He turned and charged forward, stabbing a blade toward Ronan’s stomach.
Seeing that he could not evade this time, Ronan raised his Hammer to block. However, Drax’s strength was now absurdly overwhelming. Ronan’s own power had to be measured in tons, yet he could not even endure a single exchange against Drax. He blocked the blade, but the tremendous force sent him flying anyway.
Ronan flew more than a hundred meters like a rag sack before smashing heavily into the blackstone deck plating of the cabin wall with an explosive bang.
The current Ronan was not like the one from the original story. He had not obtained the Power Stone, so the blow immediately churned his insides. He could not help coughing up blood, but before he could recover, Drax kicked off with both legs and leaped at him.
Sometimes, a person’s momentum really was important.
Drax now seemed to have entered rabid-dog mode. He kept recalling the things Fang Mo had just taught him, and the more he thought about them, the angrier he became. He truly felt that killing the other man a thousand times would not be enough.
With that momentum established, Ronan could not withstand him at all.
He raised his Hammer and tried to unleash a wave of high-energy sound at Drax, but Drax ignored it completely and charged through the attack, driving a blade straight into Ronan’s thigh.
"Argh!"
Ronan cried out in pain.
"I won’t let you die so easily!"
Drax glared viciously at Ronan, then suddenly raised a hand and pointed at Fang Mo. "Him! The man who sprays white light of destruction from one hand! Now… he wants to borrow your skin."
"No, why are you talking so weirdly…"
Not just Ronan—even Fang Mo could not help rubbing his forehead after hearing Drax’s explanation. "That was just an adjective. I don’t actually want to use his skin."
"But you just said you were going to circumcise him…"
As Drax spoke, Ronan hurriedly broke free. Clutching his leg as he retreated, he roared, "Necro Warriors! Kill them all!"
At Ronan’s roar, the surrounding cabin doors immediately opened, and large numbers of Necro Warriors poured out from every direction, firing at Fang Mo and Drax.
Yet Fang Mo did not bother with the soldiers at all. The energy rounds they fired were not even as powerful as an RPG round on Earth; they could not penetrate his defenses whatsoever. Drax dodged once, but quickly realized that the energy rounds could not harm him either, so he roared and charged at Ronan again.
This time, Ronan truly panicked and hurriedly turned to flee.
But after only two steps, Drax hurled a short blade at him with all his strength. Collector’s treasure truly was different—it pierced through the bodies of three Necro Warriors in succession before embedding itself in the hollow behind Ronan’s knee.
The tip of the blade even pierced through the gap in Ronan’s bones, protruding from his knee.
Ronan screamed and lost his balance, collapsing to the floor. However, perhaps realizing that he could no longer escape, he turned around and began attacking Drax.
His high-tech warhammer truly was formidable, capable of releasing shockwaves. In the original story, it had instantly killed one of Thanos’s insignificant underlings. But it was still not enough to stop Drax now. After all, the beacon was the core of a plane. Theoretically, Drax was currently possessed by an Otherworldly Demon God, so Ronan naturally could not defeat him.
As for the Necro Warriors—
Fang Mo simply drew Stormbreaker from behind his back and said, "Kill them." The weapon, enchanted with "Loyalty," automatically whistled through the air and flew out, chopping every Necro Warrior into mush.
Very quickly, Drax also walked up to Ronan and stabbed a blade directly into his thigh.
"My wife and daughter wanted to run too, but you didn’t let them!"
Drax stabbed wildly into Ronan again and again, venting his fury. "Now you can’t run…"
"This… is impossible…"
Perhaps the beating had made Ronan lose his mind a little. As he vomited blood, he said unwillingly, "I am the Supreme Accuser of the Kree Empire. I… I haven’t made the people of Xandar pay in blood yet! You can’t kill me! Otherwise, you’ll be making an enemy of Kree civilization! And… Thanos! Do you dare offend two cosmic powers at once!?"
Yet his threats seemed to have the opposite effect.
Drax did not care about the Kree Empire or Thanos. He was just a pure, hardheaded brute. Who cared how impressive Ronan claimed to be? All that mattered was whether Drax stabbed him or not.
So after hearing Ronan’s threat, he viciously stabbed him twice more.
But at that moment, Fang Mo reached out and patted Drax. "Old Drax, move back a little. I’ve got something to ask him first."
"Fine, ask him."
Drax was quite reasonable in this regard. He knew he could not have avenged himself without Fang Mo, so he directly handed over the blade in his hand. "If he dares lie, stab his tits hard with this knife!"
"Uh… that won’t be necessary."
Speechless, Fang Mo accepted the blade Drax handed him and looked down at Ronan on the ground.
Ronan was clearly afraid now. He realized that he seemed to have provoked someone he should never have provoked. This monster was even more terrifying than Thanos’s Black Order. Even the Cosmic Emperor Thanos was probably no more than this, right? But the other side was clearly so powerful… why did he have no reputation at all in the galaxy?
Looking at the gleaming blade in Fang Mo’s hand, then recalling Drax’s suggestion, Ronan almost instinctively wanted to protect his chest, but then felt that would be incredibly awkward.
He now roughly understood how Tivan had felt back then.
These people were complete lunatics, insane just like Thanos, who slaughtered half of every race. And he had somehow provoked something he never should have provoked.
"Ronan, right?"
Fang Mo looked cheerfully at Ronan on the ground. "I heard you were helping Thanos search for the Orb of the Universe?"
"That’s right, I am… urgh…"
Ronan had only said a few words before he started vomiting blood again.
There was nothing to be done about that. Drax had stabbed him more than thirty times just now. The fact that he was still alive was already a miracle. Kree civilization’s biotechnology truly was impressive—an Earthling would have died more than thirty times over.
"Don’t worry, you won’t die yet."
Seeing Ronan continuously vomiting blood, Fang Mo directly pulled out his Blunt Gold Healing Greatsword and stabbed it into Ronan’s chest. In an instant, Ronan’s eyes widened, and the immense pain nearly made him pass out.
But soon, an endless stream of life energy poured into his body.
The wounds on Ronan’s body began healing rapidly.
"What was the deal you made with Thanos?" After planting the Blunt Gold Healing Greatsword, Fang Mo continued his interrogation. "Was it just that you gave him the Orb, and then he helped you destroy Xandar?"
"How did you know?"
Ronan looked at Fang Mo in bewilderment. "Did Thanos tell you?"
"Come on, take a look at this." As Fang Mo spoke, he put on the Infinity Gauntlet. Four stones upon it shone brilliantly. "Guess why I tortured Tivan?"
"This is…"
Ronan recognized it. After freezing for a moment, his expression changed drastically, and he was stunned senseless. "In… Infinity Stones!? Four whole stones!?"
"…Wait!"
After a brief daze, Ronan’s pupils contracted. He raised his head toward Fang Mo in disbelief. "You mean… the Orb of the Universe also contains an Infinity Stone!?"
"What else would it contain?"
Fang Mo played with Drax’s short blade. "It couldn’t possibly be your tits, could it?"
"…"
Ronan fell silent.
After a long while, he finally managed to ask, "What… exactly do you want?"
"You can see that I’m collecting Infinity Stones right now," Fang Mo said calmly. "The Orb of the Universe has disappeared. It isn’t with Tivan, and it isn’t with you, so I want you to contact Thanos and ask whether he has already obtained the Orb."
Yes, this was also a possibility Fang Mo had just thought of.
There were not many people who knew the location of the Orb of the Universe: Tivan, Thanos, and Odin.
Tivan’s lead had now been completely cut off, while Odin had long given up collecting the stones. Only Thanos remained. His obsession with the Power Stone was obvious to all. In the original story, he first destroyed Xandar and obtained the Power Stone before beginning to collect the other stones.
The function of that thing was too straightforward—it granted its user unparalleled power. Thanos was determined to obtain it.
"So… Thanos’s goal is also the Infinity Stones?"
Ronan could not help asking.
However, before Fang Mo could say anything, Drax rushed over and stabbed Ronan twice more, threatening him viciously. "Do what you’re told. Don’t ask useless questions. I don’t know who Thanos is… but he’ll be the next one to die!"
Ronan coughed up two more mouthfuls of blood from the stabs, yet the wounds on his body quickly healed.
"I can ask."
After catching his breath for a moment, Ronan finally looked up at Fang Mo. "But you have to guarantee… that I live…"
"You know yourself that’s impossible."
Fang Mo spread his hands. "Calling me an insect a few times isn’t enough to deserve death. At most, I’d skin you and have you grow cotton with your men. But you can’t get past Drax."
"I can serve you as my master."
Ronan hurriedly said, "Don’t you want to find the Orb of the Universe? You only have four Infinity Stones… there are still two you haven’t found. Besides the Orb, I can help you find another one! I can make you the god of this universe!"
"Sorry, I know where the other one is."
Fang Mo shook his head. "And as far as I know, you don’t have the ability to retrieve it and bring it to me. After all, you don’t have any family left, right?"
"I… I can’t die yet…"
Unwillingness appeared in Ronan’s eyes. "I haven’t had my revenge. I haven’t destroyed Xandar. You can’t kill me. I’m from Kree civilization. Killing me means making an enemy of Kree civilization. I…"
"Then are you willing to gamble your life on Xandar’s destruction?"
Fang Mo suddenly asked.
"What?"
Ronan froze.
"I like helping people fulfill their dreams the most." Fang Mo suddenly revealed a malicious smile. "But you know, every gift of fate has long had its price secretly marked… so, do you want to gamble?"
"Gamble… on what?"
Ronan asked somewhat blankly.
"Don’t you want to destroy Xandar?"
Fang Mo casually opened a portal, took out a coin, and said, "Then how about this? You toss this coin. If it lands heads, I’ll go wreak havoc on Xandar. If it lands tails, I’ll go wreak havoc on Kree civilization. You’ve seen that I possess four Infinity Stones. No one in this universe can stop me now… so, want to gamble?"
"…"
Looking at the coin in Fang Mo’s hand, Ronan hesitated.
"Of course, whether you choose or not, you’re going to die anyway." Fang Mo reminded Ronan, "Unless Drax decides to forgive you…"
"Impossible! Absolutely impossible!"
Before Fang Mo could finish, Drax roared, "He dies today!"
"Fine! I choose!"
Hearing Drax’s words, Ronan roared as well. As though gathering all his courage, he reached out his hand. "Remember what you said, holder of the Infinity Stones…"
"Wait!"
But at that moment, Fang Mo suddenly stopped him.
"What…?" Ronan was stunned too, his outstretched hand freezing in midair.
"Call Thanos first." Fang Mo said directly. "What if you break down afterward? If you call Thanos then, won’t he notice?"
"Fine."
Ronan probably knew that he was certain to die. After taking a deep breath, he said, "Then I’ll call him first. But I will definitely make Xandar civilization perish…"
In any case, the call went rather smoothly.
Thanos did not notice anything unusual. But honestly, Thanos did not take Ronan seriously at all. He merely threatened him verbally, saying that he had to find the Orb of the Universe or Thanos would make him regret it, and so on.
But Ronan could not be bothered with Thanos anymore.
He was about to die anyway, so why would he fear him?
"At last, I’ll avenge my father and grandfather…" Looking at the coin in Fang Mo’s palm, Ronan felt extremely heavy-hearted. After all, who was not afraid of death? But as a warrior, he did not want to die too ugly and pathetic, so he could only roar to bolster his courage. "I! Ronan! Will give my final strength to the Kree Empire before I die!"
With that, Ronan grabbed the coin from Fang Mo’s hand and threw it to the ground.
The coin bounced back and forth across the ground several times, then spun for a while before slowly flattening out…
It revealed the tails side, representing the Kree Empire.
