The Hunt Begins

"Something major seems to have happened on the Third Tier!"

"You mean the destruction of the Far East Magic Society?"

Recently, Crimson Lotus Mage · Luo Xi had been racing to strengthen herself. She feared she would lose in the upcoming title competition.

Reincarnators grew stronger at an astonishing pace. After nearly every mission, many new powerhouses rose to prominence, while those unable to keep up were eliminated.

Thanks to the existence of titles, those who became Title-level Reincarnators received special boosts from their Title Abilities. It was a kind of "moat" that ensured a certain advantage.

But every title competition was a fresh reshuffling.

In this competition, whether one was a "fraudulent" Title-level Reincarnator, a wielder of a uniquely powerful title, one of the very strongest title holders, or even a Supreme Expert—

Within this competition, all Title Abilities were rendered ineffective, and Reincarnators returned to the most primitive form of contention.

Only by winning this contest could they continue to secure their advantage in the next cycle.

Luoxi knew she had fallen somewhat behind this cycle. The Crimson Lotus Gathering she had painstakingly built had also been wiped out once, and nearly all her efforts had gone down the drain.

Fortunately, she had successfully unearthed a powerful beast—Mercenary Tao—and earned the favor of Her Eminence Life of Silence, so her resources remained intact.

As she listened to the discussions within the gathering, Mercenary Tao’s name inexplicably came to mind.

Nearly a third of the recent upheaval in the East District had been connected to that man.

Just as she was about to ask a question, a communication request appeared before her. Her expression sharpened, and she transformed into a ray of light, teleporting away.

The next instant, Luoxi reappeared on an enormous grassland. A solitary wooden cabin stood alone upon the plains, pale flowers blooming all around it.

She became a flaming meteor that streaked across the vast Private Space. The flames dispersed in midair as she landed before the door. After steadying herself slightly, she pushed the door open and entered.

Three people were already inside. All three were the Title-level Reincarnators most valued by Her Eminence Life of Silence, each commanding a different gathering or team.

Luoxi’s heart skipped a beat. Since she had been summoned as well, did that mean she had now become one of Her Eminence’s most valued people too?!

Beep beep, doo doo…

Inside the cozy wooden room, Life of Silence was still curled up on the sofa, playing a video game from the last century. The others wore varying expressions upon seeing Luoxi.

The black-haired man leaning by the window wore a blue-black leather jacket and had a long braid. Judging by his Avatar’s appearance, he looked remarkably similar to a lancer from some Type-Moon World.

He merely glanced at Luoxi before looking away. Clearly, he held little regard for someone whose gathering had nearly been shattered by the Chaos Sage not long ago.

The blond man seated on a wooden chair beside the sofa wore a loose white shirt. He smiled instead.

"Luoxi, you’re here. Her Eminence summoned us to discuss our next move."

"Our next move?"

This man’s codename was Dong Xuri. He was a top-tier Reincarnator who had claimed the Golden Crow title, and in a sense, he was Life of Silence’s strongest follower.

However, unlike Great Sun of Finality, Her Eminence did not particularly enjoy forming groups or teams, so her organization was far looser.

Standing behind Dong Xuri was a blond woman. Her long hair draped over her shoulders and curled at the ends, while her pupils bore unmistakable traits of Mystic Eyes, radiating gorgeous colors.

Her codename was Mili. During the last title competition, she had aimed for the Crown of Supremacy. Her abilities were highly mysterious. After losing to the current Her Eminence, she had chosen to follow her.

Seeing Luoxi looking as though she understood nothing, Mili lowered her eyelids and said coldly,

"That monster is still nominally a member of your gathering, isn’t he…"

"He destroyed the Far East Magic Society and killed Solomon. What was his purpose?"

"Can you contact him? Will he make any other moves afterward?"

Mili was clearly furious as well. The string of questions left Luoxi even more bewildered, but she quickly came back to her senses.

Her face first went pale, then quickly flushed.

Mercenary Tao was indeed a monster, but he had always been rather "kind" to her?

Even she found it strange to describe Mercenary Tao with a word like kind, but they truly had never had any conflict.

Click.

At that moment, Her Eminence, who had been focused on gaming, set down her controller. She raised herself from the sofa and looked at Luoxi.

"I intend to meet him."

"You will arrange it."

The other three also showed slight changes in expression.

Life of Silence was the Crown of Supremacy rumored to possess the strongest killing power in the Space, and countless legends had always surrounded her.

Yet this scarlet blade had not slain a top-tier Reincarnator in a very long time.

Now, with this cycle about to end, Her Eminence wanted to meet a vicious creature like Mercenary Tao. It was impossible not to read into it.

Did Her Eminence intend, before surrendering this Crown of Supremacy, to use the remaining time to join forces with Mercenary Tao and kill some top-tier Reincarnator, or even… another Eminence?!

Life of Silence clearly had no desire to explain. She simply issued the order.

Luoxi could only nod repeatedly.

Seeing this, Dong Xuri immediately changed his approach. He smiled and said,

"Luoxi, Mercenary Tao’s Paradise has been gaining more and more momentum lately. Why not move Crimson Lotus’s headquarters there directly? That way, we can also learn more about Mercenary Tao."

He knew that although he was considered strong, he was at most on par with Su Qingqiu and Mahakala. Mercenary Tao’s strength had certainly surpassed his by a great deal.

Since Her Eminence did not intend to move against Mercenary Tao, building a good relationship with him was the best choice.

He immediately thought of the material his team had recently acquired. Rumor had it that Mercenary Tao had been collecting powerful materials related to martial arts and physical constitution. Perhaps he should take the initiative and trade with him…

Within the East District Slum Area, Tree Herder walked expressionlessly past a crowd of pointing Reincarnators before sitting down at his stall.

The destruction of the Far East Magic Society had become the hottest topic of conversation. As a "survivor," many people speculated that he had betrayed Solomon and joined forces with Mercenary Tao to bring down that powerful gathering.

That would probably have been the correct guess under normal circumstances, but now Tree Herder found the Reincarnators of this generation exceptionally disgusting.

These locust-like people not only brought death and destruction to stable Plot Worlds everywhere, but also took great delight in the deaths of other Reincarnators.

Driven by the Life Equation, Tree Herder resolved to begin his judgment.

He suddenly posted a trade offer.
