#602

The Sorcerer Supreme’s Tier

The senior members of the Far East Magic Society had not all withdrawn. Only Solomon and Jin chose to leave, while Tree Herder and the newly arrived man and woman stayed in Paradise alongside the Snow Witch.

They seemed to be waiting for the mission to begin so they could enter the space here together with Mercenary Tao and start it directly.

Of course, looking at it from a more cynical angle, this might also have been the Far East Magic Society’s way of monitoring Bai Cangshu.

After all, the item required to enter the mission world and carry out a crucial stage of the mission had fallen into Bai Cangshu’s hands.

S.H.I.E.L.D. Emergency Communicator

Type: Special, mission item

Quality: Rare

Description: An item used by a world’s S.H.I.E.L.D. for special emergency communications. Only specially recognized members could obtain it.

Effect 1: In Marvel-related worlds, this item could forcibly unlock S.H.I.E.L.D. faction reputation and grant the minimum Friendly reputation level.

Effect 2: This item was a mission item for the special unique mission, Heart of the Gem. It could be used by members possessing that mission to open a special mission deployment channel.

Bai Cangshu did not care how Yang Yan had acquired the item. It was probably another commonplace story of trust and betrayal among Reincarnators.

Reincarnators could wield the powers of nearly every fantasy story, yet they had never possessed the admirable qualities of those stories’ protagonists.

When a group’s power could be obtained through the simple cycle of completing missions, acquiring target items, and enhancing themselves,

every process and all morality were destined to be discarded. Everyone would strive only for that final result.

That was the fundamental reason Reincarnators were destined to be despicable, notorious, and incapable of earning the reverence given to a true hero.

However…

Bai Cangshu recalled Solomon’s words before leaving. The man had clearly been hinting at something.

Perhaps this so-called unique Hidden Mission was even more difficult than he had imagined.

He had specifically mentioned the enraged Witch, yet said nothing about the other Avengers members. The more likely possibility was that something had happened during the stages before the mission.

They might have already inflicted some damage and influence upon Vision. That was the key to their confidence in seizing the Mind Stone, so much so that someone at Yang Yan’s level had developed the ambition to seize the Gem himself and become a major figure.

Vision had likely been severely weakened, perhaps even close to death.

Moreover, Scarlet Witch Wanda had developed deep feelings for Vision in the mission’s timeline.

She was a terrifying Witch who had nearly torn Thanos apart with her bare hands after Vision was killed in the movie timeline. In every sense, she was an extremely dangerous character.

However…

The corners of Bai Cangshu’s mouth rose. He had already realized that Solomon was also a smart person. Information deliberately offered by such people was most likely meant to conceal something else.

A top-tier spellcaster Reincarnator might want something else from the mission world even more than the Mind Stone…

All sorts of speculation flowed through Bai Cangshu’s mind, and he gradually formed a plan of his own.

Bai Cangshu put away the item and looked down over Paradise from the tower. He had already received Song Xian’s notice: before long, quite a few Reincarnators within East Xia who were unwilling to accept registration and harsh conditions would likely choose to come here.

And his reputation for sheltering other Reincarnators would also be deliberately spread.

Paradise would soon truly become a paradise for Reincarnators!

"Those people aren’t united."

Artoria spoke, her voice growing colder. She could sense Solomon’s immense magical power and the traces of his magical control, but the others each had their own thoughts.

The movement of magical power often revealed a powerful spellcaster’s state of mind.

When magical power became active, when it fell silent—the more powerful the mage, the more capable they were of mobilizing magical power.

Thus, from a simple conversation, the degree and timing of those people’s turbulent magical power allowed Artoria to see the uneven fighting spirit within the group.

Some wanted to take an aggressive stance against Bai Cangshu, some preferred to ease tensions, some wanted to break away, and some wanted to mend the divide.

Standing at the edge of the tower, Bai Cangshu grinned. As Limit Break Spiral entered its third stage, his perception of energy had likewise become incredibly precise.

But even without relying on that ability, he could see it clearly.

This high-level gathering had long since reached the brink of collapse.

The so-called Round Table Conference—or rather, the so-called flat management policy—would ultimately fall apart without an absolute king.

Although Solomon was powerful, he had clearly not become a Supreme Expert, while the people under him had all grown rapidly.

As the gap in strength narrowed, differing voices began to emerge within the Far East Magic Society, and the once-idealized structure would expose increasingly serious problems.

Bai Cangshu’s gaze seemed to pierce through the shops’ concealment and directly witness those people’s conversation.

In truth, even though they had set up a barrier to block Mantra’s perception, Bai Cangshu had already guessed most of it merely from subtle expressions.

"Qinghuan, did the president really just hand the mission item directly to Mercenary Tao?!"

The relationship between Yun Wujiu and Snow Witch Fu Qinghuan was clearly more than that of an ordinary captain and team member.

No Reincarnator would casually give powerful abilities to an ordinary teammate, especially in a place like the Reincarnation Space, where betrayal was as natural as drinking water.

Fu Qinghuan being the first to rush over itself showed how much she valued Yun Wujiu.

Fu Qinghuan frowned. Looking at Yun Wujiu’s severed arm, she avoided the topic of the mission item and instead asked,

"Why didn’t you return to the space to heal your injuries first?"

Yun Wujiu shook his head.

"Mercenary Tao won’t kill me. And here, it really is… very safe."

His expression was somewhat complicated. He then described how he had previously suffered the curse’s corrosion and been crushed by Mercenary Tao’s Conqueror’s Haki.

Yun Wujiu looked at Fu Qinghuan solemnly.

"He’s very strong. None of those rumors were false. In fact… I suspect the Finality Empire deliberately concealed some information. Mercenary Tao might be even stronger than Solomon!"

The Snow Witch gently stroked her lover’s severed arm. It had been frozen over. She pretended not to understand Yun Wujiu’s implication and merely said,

"The president is ultimately just a Reincarnator on the same level as Mahakala and Death Sword. If they truly fought, victory or defeat would depend only on the battlefield and how well their abilities countered each other."

"Mercenary Tao defeated Mahakala, Death Sword, and Su Qingqiu one against three. Naturally, he is stronger than the president."

Yun Wujiu grabbed Fu Qinghuan’s hand and said excitedly,

"Why don’t we just join Mercenary Tao’s side!"

"Solomon’s Magic Tier will never be given to you and me…"

"As Reincarnators, we should…"

Crack!

Yun Wujiu was frozen in an instant, preventing him from saying those cruel words. Fu Qinghuan merely turned her back to him and looked toward the tower, her expression complicated.

Tiers, power—this damned Infinite Dimensional Space had never left them any room for warmth.

And Solomon seemed… to have ideas of his own as well.

—

Inside another small building, Tree Herder looked at the man and woman who seemed like twins and said,

"It seems Solomon’s target is the Sorcerer Supreme. He wants to cast aside our interests and pursue… a Tier for himself!"
