There Is a Beauty in the West, Polaris

Kyle did not take Vis’s words to heart.

Because of her telekinetic abilities, Yutong had always been withdrawn, independent, and self-reliant. Since she was only a few years old, she had been killing Japanese soldiers for him.

Would she feel melancholy? Would she have something on her mind?

Kyle smiled faintly and stepped out of the elevator, but the moment he entered the hall, his footsteps abruptly halted.

Yutong was sitting quietly on the edge of the balcony railing. The hem of her long dress draped down along her straight, fair legs, lightly brushing the floor.

Her exquisite face was turned slightly to the side, her beautiful eyes gazing outside. The breeze stirred her black hair as sunlight naturally fell across her body.

She was like a splendid flower standing alone in the world.

Kyle froze because, aside from Yutong’s cold beauty and nobility, he also sensed melancholy and loneliness in her.

Vis had been right. Yutong had something on her mind.

Or rather, Kyle had never truly understood Yutong.

More than sixty years ago, he had treated her as a weapon and a tool, making her the Karl family’s most cold-blooded guardian, watching over the family’s legacy for more than half a century.

Now, he treated her as a secretary and attendant, having her follow his orders—to kill, to save. Though she appeared noble and powerful, she had to lower herself into the dust and do a maid’s work.

What was Yutong thinking? What did she want? Kyle had never even considered such things.

"Yutong," Kyle called.

Hearing his voice, Yutong immediately turned around and smiled faintly. The indifferent melancholy on her face vanished, replaced once more by a breathtakingly beautiful smile.

She hopped down from the railing and said softly, "Boss. I already know about what happened last night. I’ll go now…"

"Enough!" Kyle cut her off, then asked for no apparent reason, "Let the other Karl disciples handle those matters. Tell me, what were you thinking about just now?"

Yutong froze. A trace of panic actually flashed through her eyes, and she lowered her head in silence.

Kyle said bluntly, "What do you want to do? What concerns do you have? What are you thinking? You can tell me. As long as I can do it, I’ll do my best to satisfy you."

That had always been his nature.

A woman’s thoughts were too hard to guess, so he simply did not bother guessing and asked directly.

With Kyle’s current strength and status, he could accomplish most things people called ideals, and he could ignore most things people called concerns.

Yet Yutong, who had always been obedient, remained silent for some reason.

After thinking for a moment, Kyle sighed softly. "If you want your freedom back and want to leave the Karl family, I can agree to that too."

Yutong had already given enough to the Karl family. If she truly wanted freedom, that was a concession he could make.

But the moment his words fell, Yutong’s delicate body trembled. She raised her head in fear, her pretty face turning completely pale under unprecedented terror. "Boss, are you sending me away?"

Crash—

The floor-to-ceiling windows shattered, while the table and wall decorations fell to the ground.

As Yutong’s emotions violently fluctuated, her powerful telekinesis nearly lost control, recklessly battering everything in the hall.

"I only meant…"

Before Kyle could repeat himself, a black shadow flashed past him. A fragrant breeze hit his face, and Yutong leaped into his arms, clutching tightly at his back with both hands.

"Boss, please don’t send me away." Yutong was truly terrified, her entire body trembling as she spoke.

In that instant, Kyle seemed to see again the little girl who had just emerged from the glass nutrient tank.

"From now on, you will become the sharp blade in my hand."

"Mm."

That one-word promise had endured through the ages.

Kyle realized he had said the wrong thing and hurriedly comforted Yutong in his arms. Somewhat helplessly, he said, "I never said I was sending you away. I want you to stay by my side forever, too. I just want to know what you yourself want to do."

"Really?" Yutong widened her eyes. Tears still lingered in her silver pupils.

"Of course." Kyle nodded.

Yutong sighed in relief. After thinking for a moment, she hesitated before finally saying uneasily, "I want to take you to meet someone."

"Meet someone…" Kyle paused. He knew Yutong had no family, so he quickly guessed the answer. "A friend?"

Yutong hurriedly nodded.

This time, Kyle was genuinely surprised.

Yutong could read minds and had always disliked interacting with others besides him. He had never expected her to make a friend.

It couldn’t be a man, could it?

"Come on. Take me to meet him." Kyle said with a stern face.

He had to admit that he cared a little. After all, Yutong was someone he had brought back and raised, practically his own daughter. How could he let someone steal her away without knowing who they were?

Since Yutong had said it aloud, she no longer hesitated and obediently nodded at once.

Black Rose Bar, Queens, New York.

When Kyle accompanied Yutong to the bar’s entrance, he frowned slightly.

Because he knew the playboy Howard, his first impression of bars was rather poor.

Meeting someone at a bar? It seems Yutong’s friend is no good.

Kyle thought grimly, feeling an urge to set the bar ablaze with divine fire.

"Boss, it’s in here."

Yutong naturally leaned against him, wrapping both arms around one of his as she led him toward the bar’s entrance.

Kyle restrained the surging divine power within him. Vis and Venom, lurking on his body, silently broke into a cold sweat for Yutong’s friend.

The bar was huge. Multicolored lights flashed, trendy electronic music pounded, and groups of young men and beautiful women drank and danced to their hearts’ content.

Yet when Kyle and Yutong entered, the hall seemed to fall silent in an instant. Everyone tactfully moved aside to clear a path.

At the bar counter, only a punk girl in a leather jacket sat lazily on a high stool with her back to the entrance, drinking.

She had striking dark green hair falling to her shoulders, a slender and graceful figure, and she coolly ordered the bartender to refill her glass.

"Lorna." Yutong brought Kyle over and called softly.

A woman?

Kyle inexplicably relaxed. Just then, the girl slowly turned around.

His eyes lit up. She was clearly a Western beauty no less stunning than Natasha, though her style was rather unusual…

The girl’s delicate features were covered in smoky makeup, her lips painted dark red. Her dark green hair cascaded down in loose waves, making her seem somewhat languid and rebellious.

If Yutong represented an Eastern beauty, then this girl was unquestionably a Western beauty.

Especially when the two stood together—their Eastern and Western origins, their age difference, and their vastly different personalities, appearances, and styles should have clashed, yet they fit together without the slightest discord. Instead, the sight was breathtaking.

"You’re here."

The girl called Lorna was overjoyed and was about to invite Yutong to sit down. But when she saw Kyle, whose arm Yutong held in both hands, her beautiful face instantly became as cold as the Arctic, tinged with a trace of disgust.

Though she recognized Kyle at first glance, Lorna still asked coolly and arrogantly, "Who the hell are you!?"
