Dreamed-of Ability Card

The moment Lorna’s cold, domineering words left her mouth, the young men and women in the bar changed color. Looking across all of New York City, there was probably no one who did not recognize the silver-haired young man who had come with Yutong.

The bartender shuddered, nearly dropping the bottle in his hand. He leaned close to Lorna’s ear and whispered in panic, "Boss, be a little more polite. He’s with Peace, after all…"

"I’m talking to him. Is it your turn to butt in?" Lorna shot him a cold glare.

The bartender helplessly backed away, wisely putting some distance between himself and them so he could make a run for it if a fight broke out.

"Don’t worry. I won’t hold it against a little girl." Kyle smiled faintly.

Although the dark green-haired beauty before him looked to be in her early twenties, in his eyes, she was still just an immature little girl.

Yet his casual words seemed to ignite Lorna’s suppressed anger. She pressed her left hand downward through the air, and dazzling green radiance bloomed from her palm.

A powered person? Or perhaps a mutant?!

Seeing this, Kyle was surprised. He soon sensed the green light altering the force field. The air around him suddenly stagnated, while the Gravity Field in the area where he stood abruptly increased three or fourfold.

"Lorna!" Yutong cried out. She was about to say something, but Kyle directly raised a hand to stop her, waving it to show that he was fine.

Within the Gravity Field, Kyle raised an eyebrow and said in a detached, disdainful tone, "Is that all?"

The coldness on Lorna’s exquisite face deepened. She changed from pressing down with one hand to using both, green light rippling faintly through the air.

The Gravity Field targeting Kyle alone instantly jumped from four times to over ten times!

If it had been an ordinary person, they would probably have collapsed to their knees on the spot, suffering nausea, dizziness, and many other side effects.

Yet Kyle’s expression remained unchanged, without the slightest discomfort. Calmly watching Lorna use her power, he actually took half a light step forward.

That was hardly surprising. Decades ago, he had often warmed up and trained in the family base’s Gravity Room, where gravity was more than ten times stronger.

Ten times Earth’s gravity truly felt easy to Kyle, not much different from normal.

This deeply wounded Lorna’s pride, driving her to continue using her power. Both hands began to tremble slightly, while the green glow of her ability grew ever brighter.

Ten times, thirteen times, fifteen times, eighteen times…

By the time it reached twenty times gravity, even the indoor lights began to bend slightly within the force field.

Kyle casually walked up to Lorna, picked up the bottle, poured himself a glass, then raised it and took a small sip after swirling it.

"Not bad, just a little too strong." He gave his assessment, though it was unclear whether he meant the drink or her.

"You!" Lorna’s face turned slightly pale. Her hands pressed as low as they could, green light pulsing like mist. Her still-unfamiliar power had already been pushed to its limit within the force field.

Yet no matter how much the Gravity Field increased, the man before her still showed no abnormality whatsoever.

He was a humanoid monster!

In a daze, the green light in Lorna’s hands suddenly shifted, drawing forth another ability.

Clang, clang, clang—

In an instant, everything in the bar, especially the metal objects, trembled under the pull of some mysterious force and was about to launch an attack toward Kyle, her hostile target.

"Stop it!"

Yutong’s angry voice rang out.

At the critical moment, an invisible and powerful telekinetic force surged forth like a tidal wave, suppressing the trembling objects and making them unable to move.

Bang!

The two superpowers clashed inside the room. Nearby glasses and bottles could not withstand the pressure, instantly shattering under spreading cracks. The scene was bizarre and spectacular for a moment.

Lorna looked up in alarm. When she saw silver light appear in Yutong’s eyes, she knew she had messed up and immediately canceled her ability.

"I was wrong," she apologized with complete sincerity.

Lorna had merely wanted to teach Kyle a lesson, but she had accidentally used a power she had yet to master, provoking Yutong’s anger for the first time.

A trace of approval flashed through Kyle’s eyes.

If she disliked something, she showed it directly on her face. Her style was bold and straightforward, leaning toward a man’s temperament. When she knew she was wrong, she readily admitted it and apologized.

He liked this girl’s personality.

Of course, the real focus was her ability.

Kyle’s gaze fell on Lorna. Dozens of Ability Cards surged out from her body, two of them especially dazzling.

The first was the ability she had used at the beginning—a force-field-type ability!

Force Field Traction: Creates force fields for traction. Blue Ability Card.

Using this ability to create localized force fields can reverse, weaken, or amplify the force field within an area!

The user can only create force fields within fifty meters, and the strength of the force field is directly related to the size and distance of the area affected by Force Field Traction.

The limit of Force Field Traction is twenty times Earth's gravity.

Current status: Extractable!

In Kyle’s view, this ability was extremely versatile. However, since it was a weakened version of force field control and had too many restrictions, its card rank appeared rather low.

But Kyle’s gaze did not linger there. Instead, it fell directly on the second Ability Card. In just a few seconds, he nearly failed to remain composed and cried out in amazement.

He had never expected to encounter this Ability Card in the current world!

One of the Ability Cards he had long dreamed of obtaining!

Magnetism Control: Perfect, meticulous control over magnetic fields. Rare Purple Ability Card.

Can control magnetic fields in any form!

The maximum power that can be manipulated at once is unknown. It is currently known to be capable of controlling metal objects weighing over a thousand tons. The ability to control magnetic fields can extend to the atomic level, altering chemical structures and reshaping matter.

Can manipulate a large number of individual objects simultaneously and assemble them into complex machines. It can even achieve invisibility by bending visible light nearby.

To a certain extent, magnetism can be used to strengthen the user's body, increasing strength and endurance beyond human limits, and reducing reaction time to one-fifteenth that of an ordinary human.

Current status: Unextractable. Restrictions: (1. Due to the user's psychological condition, this ability has not been fully mastered.) (2. The card owner already possesses a Rare Purple prefix Ability Card.)

Kyle’s mouth twitched slightly, and his heart bled with aching regret.

This was Magnetism Control!

Even more flawless than magnetic control! If developed to its utmost limit, even Godslayer would be nothing to fear!

If there had not been two restrictions, he would have wanted to give up his current God Race Gene Ability Card and extract Magnetism Control instead.

This ability could no longer be described merely as powerful. It was terrifying beyond measure!

"Why are you staring at me?" Lorna turned her pretty face aside, covering her slightly curved chest as her beautiful eyes coldly sliced toward Kyle.

Kyle shifted his burning gaze away. He really had not been looking at her chest; the Ability Card was simply too captivating.

Sure enough, with Yutong staying beside a man like this, there was absolutely no way to feel at ease!

Lorna sighed inwardly, racking her brains for a strategy to free her best friend from Kyle’s clutches.

Lorna was not an original character. She came from the X-Men spin-off series The Gifted, and most people called her Polaris.
