There Is a Mole, Terminate the Plan

At S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, in an underground space a hundred meters below the surface, what was hidden here was like the part of an iceberg beneath the sea.

Over a hundred meters high and roughly fifteen hundred meters long and wide, this underground space was more than ten times larger than any football stadium in the world.

Under the countless massive lights on the ceiling and walls, steel weapons forged from the technological crystallization of the twenty-first century sprawled across the underground factory like fortresses. As far as the eye could see were savage, terrifying gun ports, vortex engines, and more, their shells reflecting a cold metallic gleam.

Kyle’s pupils contracted slightly. Beneath S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, three enormous Aircraft Carriers were parked!

Among them, over a thousand modern fighter jets were being prepared. Countless staff members filled the underground space like ants, busily and diligently completing the final stages of the project.

The sight stirred some distant memories within Kyle, making him feel as though he had overlooked a somewhat important future plot point.

Fury’s face was as dark as water as he explained, "These aren’t ordinary national Aircraft Carriers. They’re Helicarriers three generations ahead of their time, directly linked to positioning satellites. Once they take flight, they won’t need to land again. Their vortex engines allow them to move in suborbital paths around the Earth like near-Earth satellites."

"Not bad."

Hearing that, Kyle nodded in appraisal.

On Sakaar, he had indirectly witnessed the Light of Technology of the universe. He was already accustomed to Interstellar Ships capable of crossing star systems. Saying "not bad" was already extremely high praise from him.

"Tony must have contributed to this, right?" Kyle said with a smile.

Such a massive advanced technological project could never have succeeded at Earth’s current technological level without Stark’s involvement.

Of course, that did not include that reclusive, ahead-of-its-time nation with mines in its backyard.

Fury nodded. "He looked at the old engines and redesigned them into heli-engines, allowing the Aircraft Carriers to achieve the feat of taking flight."

"Three Helicarriers, equipped with long-range precision weapons, can kill a thousand enemies in a minute…"

Fury paused. Hesitation appeared on his dark face, but he gritted his teeth and continued, "There’s no need for surveillance scans or target locks. Satellites can directly read a criminal’s DNA and kill them before terrorists even commit their crimes."

"This is S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Project Insight, secretly carried out since the twenty-first century!"

After saying that, Fury glanced at Kyle, specifically wanting to hear his assessment and advice.

Unexpectedly, Kyle merely shook his head, showing no courtesy as he coldly rebuked him, "Fury, have you gone senile?"

Fury’s single eye widened. He did not argue, merely lowering his head to listen.

"As long as this world has light shining upon it, shadows will inevitably grow. Completely eradicating evil is impossible."

Looking at the Helicarriers, Kyle said in a deep voice, "I know you support this plan because you think it can nip many threats to the world in the bud. But have you considered that if this world becomes increasingly cold and rule-bound, what would be the point of civilization or morality?"

The good and evil in a person’s life could hinge on a single thought.

If DNA, lifestyle, and other factors were analyzed to determine that a baby or child would become a bad person in the future, then they were shot on the spot, it would be utterly absurd and ridiculous.

Kyle concluded, "If these three Helicarriers take to the skies, then from that moment on, humanity across the world will no longer have freedom! Under the oppression and terror of having their lives constantly threatened, humanity’s criminal intent will only continue to grow, until the Helicarriers kill every human on Earth!"

Fury’s entire body trembled. After a long silence, he let out a heavy sigh. "Yesterday, I brought Steve here. He also didn’t approve of this plan. After hearing you say this, I also feel that I was too naïve back then."

"As long as you stop now, it isn’t too late." Kyle raised his brows slightly and looked at Fury with grave seriousness before suddenly asking, "Fury. Did you come up with this plan alone?"

Fury shook his head and answered, "No. At first, it was only an idea. Many S.H.I.E.L.D. higher-ups helped refine it. Is there something wrong with that?"

Of course there was. Something was very wrong!

Kyle thought for a moment, a cold glint flashing through his eyes as he continued, "Now that you’re no longer the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., can you still suspend Project Insight?"

"Yes." Fury nodded and said confidently, "I have S.H.I.E.L.D.’s highest override authority. Even the current Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. doesn’t have authority higher than mine. As long as we wait for Natasha, the current deputy director, to return, our combined authority can directly delay the plan."

Kyle looked at Fury and said, "At least you haven’t become completely muddleheaded. Fury, do you remember what I told you at the manor more than sixty years ago, when S.H.I.E.L.D. was first established?"

Fury lowered his head and clenched his fists. "Of course I remember. I gave you my word. As long as I was here, I would never let your S.H.I.E.L.D. become corrupt or evil. Otherwise…"

"It’s good that you remember." Kyle lightly patted Fury on the shoulder and said coldly, "You’d better resolve S.H.I.E.L.D.’s problems yourself. Don’t wait until I can no longer hold myself back."

"If I act, S.H.I.E.L.D. will run with blood."

After saying that, Kyle immediately turned and headed for the elevator, leaving Fury standing there with a heavy expression.

"Oh, right. Those three Helicarriers may truly be useful one day in the future. It’s just that their targets won’t be life forms from Earth."

Kyle waved his hand, entered the elevator, and selected the upper floors to leave the underground space.

This brought things back to the question Tony had once asked.

Terrifyingly powerful technological weapons were not inherently bad. It depended on who wielded them, whether their holder had enough ability to control them, and whether they could be used properly for the right purpose.

If only Kyle had permission to use those three Helicarriers.

And if the original Project Insight were changed into something akin to Master Gu Yi’s duty, turning it into Earth’s counterattack weapon against outside invaders, then the nature of the matter would be entirely different.

"Earth is still too weak." Kyle gently shook his head, feeling the pressure of racing against time.

While humanity on Earth was still scheming against one another and fighting civil wars, only a very small number of people had set their sights on the powerful threats beyond Earth.

One of them was called Gu Yi, the Sorcerer Supreme. She had secretly protected Earth for hundreds of years.

Now there was one more—Kyle, a Card Draw Master. He had no intention of selflessly dedicating himself to humanity on Earth. He merely selfishly wanted to protect and possess the things he liked.

Within the underground space.

After pondering for a long time, Fury’s single eye shone with increasing determination. He entered the elevator and hurried toward the Director’s office on the top floor.

Kyle might be right!

There might be problems with both Project Insight and S.H.I.E.L.D.’s internal affairs. The plan had to be terminated immediately!
