Thor Awakens

Impressive!

Seeing War Abomination hold its own against the Destroyer Armor and even gain a slight upper hand, everyone was astonished. Even Tony had to admit that War Abomination was not something he could match; they were on entirely different levels! Of course, Tony had no intention of admitting defeat. War Abomination’s core was Abomination, not the armor! "When did Midgard’s humans become so powerful? They can actually contend with the Destroyer?"

Sif looked utterly incredulous. The last time she had come to Earth, humans had still knelt before her and called her the goddess of harvest!

"Humans are indeed stronger than we imagined!"

Thor nodded first, then said, "But that isn’t the Destroyer’s true strength. If my father were controlling it, its combat power would be at least dozens of times greater!"

"What a load of crap!"

Tony inwardly scoffed at that. But Wang Bert knew Thor was telling the truth. Loki simply could not bring out the Destroyer’s true power!

On the Bifrost, Loki watched everything unfolding on Earth and silently gritted his teeth. It seemed impossible to kill Thor with the Destroyer. In that case, he should deal with the other matter first!

What matter? Simple: lure Laufey to Asgard, kill him, then use the Bifrost to blow Jotunheim to pieces!

He, Loki, was a prince of Asgard, not the prince of that damned, poor, backward, filthy, disgusting… Jotunheim! Setting Loki’s thoughts aside for now, War Abomination’s performance greatly pleased America’s top brass. One general said, "This was well worth the 1.5 billion dollars. Osborn Corporation is good—very good!"

"It is good!"

Everyone nodded in agreement. Best of all, Osborn Corporation had given them a way to control Abomination. There was no need to worry about War Abomination turning on them! At that moment, a white-haired old man suddenly said, "One War Abomination is not enough."

Everyone understood immediately and nodded together. "Indeed, not enough!"

On the battlefield, the Destroyer flipped War Abomination over and got back to its feet. Wang Bert shouted unhappily at the others, "Hey, stop standing around watching! War Abomination isn’t finished yet and could malfunction at any moment. Attack together and defeat the Destroyer as quickly as possible!"

"Anything made by a madman is unreliable!"

Tony snorted and joined the battle. The others did the same. Though they could not break through the Destroyer’s defenses, they were more than capable of distracting it. The Destroyer soon began to lose ground! The problem was that it could heal itself. Unless they solved that issue, they could not destroy it at all. That was also why Wang Bert had not acted despite holding the Vibranium Spear! Wang Bert asked Thor, "Thor, how do we destroy this armor?"

Thor answered, "The Destroyer regenerates through divine power. As long as you shatter its divine power core, you can destroy the Destroyer Armor!"

Wang Bert’s eyes lit up. "Where is the divine power core?"

Thor sighed. "The divine power core isn’t fixed. It constantly moves around inside the Destroyer. You mortals can’t sense it, and neither can I in my current state!"

"That troublesome?"

Wang Bert frowned deeply. Did they really have to turn Thor back into the God of Thunder before they could destroy the Destroyer? The problem was, under these circumstances, how could they get the Destroyer to kill Thor? They could not exactly kick Thor over to it, could they?

At the same time, Odin, who was pretending to sleep in the divine realm while secretly sensing Earth’s situation the entire time, was also frowning. The script was wrong. Why was the Destroyer being beaten down by humans? At this rate, when would Thor awaken? There isn’t much time left!

Odin slightly raised a finger, intending to give the Destroyer more power. Just then, he sensed a pair of eyes on Earth watching him. He immediately lowered his finger. Those eyes watched him for quite a while before slowly looking away!

It was a warning!

"Ancient One!"

Odin silently sighed. Earth had once been a vassal state of Asgard, so Ancient One permitted Asgard to act on Earth—but only on a small scale. If he went too far, Ancient One would never stand by and do nothing! Odin was not afraid of Ancient One, but he had no desire whatsoever to fight her. That woman could not be killed and could drag things out with you for ten thousand years.

"Then it can only be done this way. It feels a little anticlimactic!"

Odin lightly tapped with his finger. Thor’s Hammer on Earth suddenly began to shake violently. Before the nearby agents could do anything, the hammer flew up by itself and turned into a bolt of lightning that vanished beyond the horizon.

"What’s going on?"

Thor stared blankly at Mjolnir, which had suddenly returned to his hand. Not only him—even Wang Bert was dumbfounded. What was this? Why had the hammer flown back on its own when Thor had not died? This isn’t in the script, Director! Thor suddenly realized what had happened. His father had acknowledged him! He excitedly shouted toward the sky, "Father!"

Wang Bert scratched his head a little. When would Thor ever get over this habit of calling for his father? It was pretty awkward, wasn’t it?

Both Thor and Loki had actually lived for thousands of years, yet they were still daddy’s boys!

"Ha ha, Bert, and Jane, my father has acknowledged me! My divine power has returned!"

Thor raised Thor’s Hammer high and laughed loudly. Then, lightning flashed. Armor appeared all over Thor’s body, and a Red Cape billowed behind him. He looked exceptionally handsome!

"Thor!"

Sif and the others cheered. Their God of Thunder had returned!

Wang Bert could not help asking, "Thor, why did the hammer suddenly return to your hand?"

"I’m not entirely sure either!"

Thor found it a little strange as well. He had not really done anything on Earth, so why had his father suddenly acknowledged him?

Could it be because he had found a girlfriend? Was his father eager to hold a grandson?

Well, it sounded a little unreliable, but that was the only thing he had done since coming to Earth! "Never mind. I’m going to tear the Destroyer apart!"

Thor could not be bothered to think further. He hurled his hammer fiercely at the Destroyer. With a clang, the Destroyer staggered back several steps!

Thor held out his hand and recalled the hammer, then declared arrogantly, "Ha ha, the God of Thunder is here."

Tony quipped, "Where did this Point Break protagonist come from?"

Frank glanced at Thor and said, "Looks like you really are the God of Thunder. Nice outfit."

"Ha ha, Frank, we’ll have another fight sometime! All right, move aside. Leave this to me!"

Thor spun his hammer and flew into the sky, then began frantically gathering the surrounding lightning. Before long, dark clouds filled the sky and bolts of electricity writhed through them. Everyone felt a heavy pressure in their hearts, as though a world-ending calamity was about to descend! Tony shouted, "Why does spinning a hammer let him fly? That makes no scientific sense!"

"Everyone, retreat."

Wang Bert shouted. Other than Tony, everyone immediately complied, including War Abomination—Ivan was controlling him! Tony had always been arrogant. Not only did he refuse to retreat, he continued attacking the Destroyer Armor. He, Tony, was the protagonist. He was the one meant to be center stage! The Destroyer paid Tony no attention. It opened its faceplate and fired an enormous high-temperature beam at Thor. Thor did not dodge. He drew countless bolts of lightning into Thor’s Hammer, then used it to lead the way as he charged downward through the high-temperature beam.

The high-temperature beam could not stop Thor’s Hammer at all. It was forced all the way back into the Destroyer’s head. Then Thor gathered all the lightning and slammed it fiercely into the Destroyer’s divine power core.

Boom! The Destroyer exploded in midair, turning heaven and earth crimson. Tony, who was far too close, was blasted away. He rolled across the ground for over a hundred meters before coming to a stop. The Iron Man Armor, battered by the enormous impact, had become a piece of junk that could fall apart at any moment.

At the same time, the Destroyer’s remains rained down like fire, crackling as they struck the ground and nearly hit people! "Frank, Ivan, grab the Destroyer! Don’t leave behind even a single piece!"

Wang Bert shouted. This was Uru Metal infused with divine power. It was worth even more than Vibranium!

"You wastrel!"

Odin was so furious he nearly jumped up. He had spent immense effort forging the Destroyer. It was one of a kind and could not be replicated, yet Thor, that wastrel, had blown it up just to show off!

A son selling off his father’s land would never feel the pain. Odin now wanted to chop Thor to death! Thor had no idea about any of this. He hovered proudly in the air and shouted, "Bert, you really are impressive, but I’m even more impressive!"

"When it comes to wasting things, I truly can’t compare to you!"

Wang Bert mocked. With a prince like this, how could Asgard possibly avoid destruction? "Wasting things?"

Thor was about to say something when Heimdall’s anxious voice rang out in his ear. "Thor, come back quickly! Loki has brought Laufey to assassinate Odin, Your Majesty!"

"What? Heimdall, bring us back immediately! Sif, hurry over here!"

Thor was greatly alarmed and hurriedly called out to the Warriors Three and Sif. The four quickly gathered around Thor. Remembering something, Thor shouted to Wang Bert, "Bert, tell Jane I’ll be back soon!"

"Go on. I’ll take care of your girlfriend!"

Wang Bert waved. The next moment, seven-colored light descended from the sky and took all five of them away, leaving behind only a mysterious pattern!

Seeing Frank and the others picking up fragments, Coulson hurriedly had Rumlow join them. Wang Bert said flatly, "Coulson, ownership of these fragments belongs to me. You have no right to collect them!"

Coulson asked, "Mr. Wang, why do these fragments belong to you? Shouldn’t they belong to the government?"

"This belongs to Thor’s family. Thor is my employee, so naturally, his things belong to me!"

Wang Bert said, "Don’t look so surprised. You were there when Thor signed the contract!"

"That contract? Mr. Wang, you really know how to do business."

Coulson was speechless and could only have Rumlow stop. He said, "Mr. Wang, could you give us some fragments for research?"

"You won’t be able to figure anything out from them!"

Wang Bert smiled, then turned and walked over to Tony, who had crawled out of his armor. He sneered, "I thought you wouldn’t get blasted away this time, but you still ended up flying in the end!"

Tony lay on the ground and cursed, "Couldn’t that bastard have said something before using his ultimate move?"

"You just love showing off!"

Wang Bert tossed Tony a vial of medicine. "Drink it. It’ll ease the pain in your body!"

Tony did not suspect anything and directly poured the medicine into his mouth. He immediately felt much better. He asked, "What’s the deal with that guy? The God of Thunder—are gods really real in this world? And what about those Frost Giants from before? Are they really aliens?"

"You sure have a lot of questions!"

Wang Bert said, "I want to make a documentary film called Thor. I need your authorization."

"You’re making Thor? Will the government and S.H.I.E.L.D. allow it?"

Tony was stunned. "And why are you making it?"

"Do I need their permission?"

Wang Bert snorted, then said, "I want humanity to see the truth of this world!"

"Doesn’t it disgust you for a Vampire hiding his identity to say something like that?"

Tony sneered. "Fine, you have my authorization. But delete the final scene, and let me preview the finished film first!"

"Fine!"

Wang Bert began explaining, "That man from before was the God of Thunder from Norse mythology…"

Tony listened quietly, then frowned and asked, "So from now on, we have to rely on that idiot… that guy to protect us?"

"Are you willing to?"

"Of course not!"

"Good. Neither am I!"

Wang Bert and Tony looked at each other and both smiled. Earth’s fate would be controlled by Earth’s own lifeforms!

At the North Pole, Nick Fury and Peggy Carter watched the now-concluded battle on the screen, both wearing rather grim expressions!

"Bert once told me that if I ever met the God of Thunder, I would have only one thought: Asgard is doomed!"

Director Fury said slowly, "I didn’t believe him then, but I do now. This God of Thunder is unreliable. Humanity can only rely on itself."

Carter asked, "What does this have to do with Steve?"

"Captain is a spiritual leader. I need him, S.H.I.E.L.D. needs him, and humanity needs him even more!"

Director Fury said, "Ms. Carter, Captain does not belong to you alone. He belongs to all humanity!"

"Steve belongs only to himself!"

Carter waved her hand tiredly. "I’ll think about it!"

"All right. I’ll wait for your decision."

Director Fury nodded and left. Outside the hospital, he took out his phone and called Alexander Pierce, a member of the World Security Council. He asked, "Pierce, what do you think of that battle just now?"

Pierce said solemnly, "Humanity is too weak!"

"Indeed, far too weak. I want to apply to research the Tesseract."

Pierce was silent for a moment before saying, "Come to my office next Monday and we’ll discuss it in detail!"

"Fine!"

Director Fury put down the phone and let out a long breath. Ancient One, Mephisto, Odin, the God of Thunder… this world was becoming more and more dangerous! Just then, Director Fury’s phone rang. After he answered, Hawkeye’s relieved voice came through. "Director, after searching for half a year, I finally found that rat Ulysses Klaue!"

"Bring him back to S.H.I.E.L.D. immediately!"

Director Fury said at once. If Wakanda truly had vast quantities of Vibranium and advanced technology, that might not be a bad thing for humanity!…

As dawn approached, the military’s main force arrived. They completely sealed off the area around Amputee Town, then deployed a large number of troops to search for the escaped Frost Giants.

Wang Bert had already left on a private plane with the Uru Metal. Frank was handling the cleanup over there! As for Ivan and War Abomination, they had left shortly after the battle ended. Both War Abomination itself and its armor had developed some problems, and Ivan needed to return to make adjustments!

Though there were some minor issues, War Abomination was undoubtedly a success. The military brass was extremely satisfied and even hinted that Osborn Corporation should keep up the good work!

"Uru Metal is magical metal. If I want to forge it, I can only go to Kamar-Taj."

Wang Bert was deep in thought when his phone rang. It was Carter.

Carter got straight to the point. "Blood God, why did you tell S.H.I.E.L.D. that Steve had been found?"

Wang Bert did not deny it. He asked, "Ms. Carter, do you think S.H.I.E.L.D. should exist?"
