Thor’s Problem
Thor and Loki did not try to act tough after hearing that. They said they could skip that part entirely.
Otherwise, if the gravity multiplier started too high, and they truly could not adapt, that would be genuinely embarrassing.
"Banner, adjust the multiplier according to my hand signals later."
After seeing that neither of them objected, Tony gave Banner a heads-up.
"Alright."
Banner nodded at that.
Then Tony opened the door to the gravity chamber and walked in, intending to accompany the two of them.
An accident was unlikely, but it was better to be safe than sorry.
Tony being able to adapt to forty times gravity did not mean he could not withstand higher gravity levels.
He simply could not move as freely as he could under forty times gravity, nor train inside for an entire day.
Therefore, until the multiplier exceeded fifty, Tony could enter with Thor and Loki.
Seeing how serious Tony was, Thor and Loki, who had not been nervous before, could not help becoming more cautious as well.
What they feared was not anything else, but that the gravity level they could handle would be too low and make them look bad.
The entire gravity chamber was roughly a hundred meters wide, and its snow-white walls made it exceptionally bright.
Along the walls were various training devices, each clearly marked with its weight. The lightest was ten kilograms, while the heaviest was one hundred kilograms.
Two hundred jin was not heavy by itself, but under ten times gravity, it would immediately become one ton.
Training with such things for an entire day could easily exhaust someone to the point of collapse, and a moment of carelessness could even lead to injury.
In the higher-level gravity chambers, blood was spilled almost every day, though they were cleaned daily as well.
"It’s starting. Pay attention."
"The gravity will increase by one times every five seconds."
At that moment, Banner’s voice came through the speakers.
When Thor and Loki heard that, they suddenly felt something pressing down on their bodies. Even the air seemed to become sticky, as though they had sunk into a swamp.
It did not hinder their movements, but it was indeed an uncomfortable sensation.
"In a high-gravity chamber, every breath places a burden on the body."
"So after you fully adapt, your endurance will improve significantly. The process is just somewhat painful."
Seeing the subtle change in Thor and Loki’s expressions, Tony smiled and explained.
Every time one left the gravity building and returned to normal gravity, there was a sense of being in an extremely comfortable environment, free of all restraints.
It truly helped improve one’s strength. That was why, despite training in the gravity building being rather painful,
Void Cult members still enthusiastically came here from time to time.
Moreover, this was a great place to expend energy. After training for a full day, one could basically sleep soundly and comfortably.
Even if Thor had not suggested comparing themselves, Tony would have wanted to bring Thor here to try it out.
When others entered together, it was very easy to stir up the competitive spirit sleeping within one’s heart, making people want to train and grow stronger.
While Tony spoke, the gravity rose from two times to three times.
This gravity pressed in all directions, from the outside to the inside. It was not merely something covering the surface of the body.
Thor and Loki felt that their bodies needed more oxygen, so they unconsciously changed the rhythm of their breathing. Their previously steady breaths became deeper and longer.
"Though it feels a little strange, it’s not bad."
"Right, brother?"
After taking a deep breath, Thor smiled.
"Yeah. There’s some discomfort, but it doesn’t affect movement."
Loki nodded and moved his body around. He appeared to be perfectly fine.
"It’s normal for it to feel strange. This is only the initial adaptation process."
Seeing Thor and Loki both wearing relaxed smiles, Tony’s smile remained unchanged as he spoke.
Since this was only the first floor, it was normal for the two of them to be able to smile.
If the gods of Asgard could not adapt to gravity just a few times stronger than normal, they would not deserve to be called gods.
However, even if Thor and Loki had excellent physiques, Tony dared guarantee that after going up a few more floors, neither of them would be able to smile.
As for why he was so certain, Tony had naturally experienced the change in mindset himself.
An environment under high gravity could absolutely be called extremely harsh. Yet that happened to correspond to another method of evolution for the Void Cult: adapting and evolving to survive in harsh environments.
Seeing Tony’s smile, Thor and Loki felt a little uneasy, wondering whether Tony had tricked them into coming to the wrong place.
But since they were already here, neither of them could possibly say they wanted to leave without properly testing where their limits lay.
In less than a minute, the gravity multiplier had already increased to ten times.
Thor felt that the armor he was used to wearing, which weighed around eighty jin, had become incredibly heavy.
It caused memories that should have long since faded to suddenly resurface, reminding him of how he had felt when he first put on the armor. He missed that feeling immensely.
"Don’t just stand there. Walk around if you’re fine. Better yet, start running."
Seeing that Thor and Loki still looked relaxed, Tony smiled as he spoke, not caring whether they were pretending or not.
As he spoke, Tony demonstrated. He leaped into the air and moved his body around midair, looking incredibly nimble and relaxed.
Yet when Tony’s feet landed, they did not make a heavy sound, because he had long since grown accustomed to this gravity level.
How could Thor and Loki possibly admit defeat after seeing that? They jumped up as well and copied his movements.
Standing still had been fine, but when they imitated Tony’s actions,
Thor and Loki felt the restraints coming from every part of their bodies grow much stronger.
Moreover, when they landed, two loud BANGS! rang out.
"Rather than heading to higher floors, the two of you should play around here for a while first."
Seeing that both of them had made noise when they landed, Tony was not surprised and simply smiled.
To be honest, Tony was not entirely sure just how strong Thor was.
However, he could be certain that Thor was extremely powerful, and his attacks were incredibly fierce.
Thor had once used a single hammer strike to barely break through the Destroyer’s defenses in Asgard’s treasury.
Although he had only barely broken through its defenses, Tony knew that the force contained in that blow had been terrifying.
After all, more than two years ago, even an attack close to Tony’s full strength had been completely unable to break through the Destroyer’s defenses, which were forged from Uru metal.
Yet as he interacted with Thor more and more, Tony also discovered a problem with him.
Thor did not seem to fully understand his own true power, much less attempt to completely tap into the strength contained within himself.
Otherwise, Thor would not have needed so much time to charge up when controlling lightning.
Second update, two thousand words delivered.
