Watching a Movie
"We really need to watch this carefully."
Tony said excitedly. He was extremely interested in his original fate—he really wanted to know exactly how he died. Was it cool? Was it awesome?
Wang Bert smiled and said nothing more. Whatever it was, they could discuss it after the movie.
Too bad I wasn’t strong enough when I first arrived. Otherwise, I could have made the whole series from the start. That would’ve been hilarious.
Wang Bert secretly thought. For example, Nick Fury and Pierce watching Captain America: The Winter Soldier together, only for them to realize halfway through that Pierce was Hydra. That scene would definitely be beautiful.
How about finding a parallel world to try it on?
Leaving Wang Bert’s twisted idea aside for the moment, Gwen had also come to the gathering that evening and had been sticking close to Spider-Gwen the entire time.
Gwen asked curiously, "I never expected I could become Spider-Man too. Spider-Gwen, does your world have a Peter as well?"
"Yes. He was bullied for years, injected himself with Lizard Serum, and became a Lizardman."
Spider-Gwen sighed and said, "Later, I accidentally killed him."
"I became a Lizardman? And you killed me? Why do I keep dying lately?"
Peter was dumbfounded. He had indeed been bullied often before becoming Spider-Man, but he had never entertained the thought of killing anyone.
Spider-Gwen shook her head and did not say more. Ever since Peter died, she had not made friends for a long time and had become somewhat cold and distant.
"Spider-Gwen, could you give me some of your blood?"
Gwen asked, "I want to study it."
Peter hurriedly stopped her. "No. You definitely want to extract the spider serum and turn yourself into Spider-Man."
"Why not? Spider-Gwen’s DNA should be the same as mine. There’s an eighty percent chance I can use her spider serum."
Gwen said unhappily, "This isn’t the same as you. Your spider serum can’t be used by anyone except you."
Spider-Gwen stared at Gwen in shock. The version of herself in this world was actually a mad scientist? That was really beyond anything she had imagined.
Peter said helplessly, "No, it’s too dangerous. Gwen, why do you always want to become Spider-Man?"
"Because I want to be a Super Hero with you. What, your childhood sweetheart can do it, but I can’t?"
Gwen snorted. "You two show off your romance on television every day. Have you ever considered how I feel?"
"Why are you acting like those people? Harry and I are innocent. And what do you mean, showing off our romance? Those were normal interviews!"
Peter was getting a little frantic. Gwen said, "I don’t care. From now on, I’m the only partner you’re allowed to have."
It was true that Gwen liked boys’ love. In fact, at first, she had secretly followed comics about Peter and Harry. They were a little more exciting than the ones about Spider-Man and Electro, after all—they had grown up together.
But later, Peter and Harry’s relationship had become increasingly close. The two of them even seemed somewhat spiritually connected, and that made Gwen feel a strong sense of danger.
So Gwen had to do something. Otherwise, Peter might really run off with Harry one day—and leave her behind.
Spider-Gwen blinked. She truly did not understand romance. After all, she had never dated anyone, and she did not even have friends.
Thinking of that, Spider-Gwen suddenly felt terribly lonely.
While Peter and Gwen were bickering, Wang Bert called out, "Ladies and gentlemen, the exciting movie is about to begin. Don’t miss it."
As Human Torch walked over, he asked curiously, "What movie needs this many people watching it? Don’t tell me it’s The Secret History of the Blood God Picking Up Girls?"
"Tomorrow, I’ll get someone to make The Secret History of Human Torch Picking Up Girls."
Wang Bert said irritably. Then he activated the device, and a 3D light screen appeared. Everyone grabbed grilled meat and walked over to the screen.
The movie Wang Bert had made did not jump straight into Avengers: Endgame. It first recapped Avengers: Infinity War, including Hulk getting beaten up by Thanos, Strange getting beaten up by Ebony Maw, the Guardians of the Galaxy getting beaten up by Thanos, Tony Stark getting hit by meteorites and beaten up by Thanos, and so on.
"Why is it all us getting beaten up?"
Future Tony complained. He had already guessed what Wang Bert was going to play, and he was a little excited.
Hulk asked Future Banner unhappily, "You’re way too weak, aren’t you? Thanos beat you into hiding, and you didn’t even dare come out?"
"It wasn’t hiding. Hulk and I had a bit of a problem. Hulk was throwing a tantrum."
"You’re just fooling yourself."
Hulk snorted. "I’ll avenge you. In the future, I’ll beat Thanos into hiding."
Future Banner was speechless. He sighed. That stain on Hulk’s record was probably impossible to erase.
Soon, the story reached the moment Thanos snapped his fingers. Massive numbers of Super Heroes and humans turned to ash and vanished. Everyone stared in shock, and none of their earlier ease remained.
They had known about it beforehand, but witnessing it with their own eyes was still deeply shocking. Especially since they knew quite a few of those people, such as Black Panther, Wanda, and Peter Parker.
"Mr. Stark, I don’t feel so good… Please, I don’t want to die. I don’t want to die…"
Peter felt utterly miserable. He had actually died so tragically? Gwen covered her mouth, growing even more determined to become Spider-Man—she wanted to become Peter’s comrade and live and die alongside him.
Thor closed his eyes, unable to bear watching any longer. This was the deepest pain in his heart. Even after five years, it was as vivid as the day it happened.
Future Tony did not close his eyes. He gritted his teeth and forced himself to remember everything. No matter what, he had to obtain the Infinity Stones and bring back the half who had vanished, even if it meant dying himself.
Future Banner, Future Steve, and Future Ant-Man felt the same way. They did not want to keep living like walking corpses.
We absolutely can’t let this happen in our world.
That was what Tony and the others were thinking. They secretly clenched their fists, pondering how to kill that bastard Thanos.
The Spider-Men were all dumbstruck. This was far too brutal. Compared to this, their usual lives had been child’s play.
Seeing everyone’s expressions, Wang Bert nodded in satisfaction. The reason he had included this recap was to make everyone take Thanos’s threat seriously.
Although Thanos could no longer defeat Wang Bert, if the Goddess of Death was truly standing behind Thanos, this battle definitely would not be easy.
Wang Bert cleared his throat and said, "The main feature begins now. Please enjoy."
No one answered. They stared at the screen with complete focus, and Future Tony’s group was no exception.
Avengers: Endgame opened with Hawkeye Barton’s wife and children disappearing. Barton froze on the spot and hurriedly looked toward Future Tony. Future Tony nodded heavily. Barton sighed. He could imagine how desperate his future self had been.
When he turned around, his entire family was gone.
The movie continued—Avengers killed Thanos, but the Infinity Stones were gone. Everyone spent five years in despair. Then Ant-Man emerged from the Quantum Realm, and the group officially began the time heist.
"Little Morgan is actually this adorable?"
Tony’s eyes turned green with envy. Future Tony’s Little Morgan was a sweet little daughter, while his Little Morgan was black-hearted, helping her mother beat up her own father every day.
Thinking of something, Tony gave Wang Bert a resentful look. Little Morgan’s personality going off the rails had a direct connection to a certain bastard.
Wang Bert rolled his eyes irritably. That was Murphy’s fault. What the hell did it have to do with him?
Hulk glared at Future Banner. What was this? He had become comic relief?
Future Banner gave an awkward smile. After merging with Hulk, he had become a completely different person.
The following events were unknown even to Future Tony’s group. They watched without blinking, unwilling to miss a single scene.
Nebula and Nebula can resonate with each other? We need to watch out for that. We can’t make the same mistake in the future.
Future Tony thought to himself. A moment later, the scene of Barton and Natasha competing to die appeared on the screen.
Although the scene was tragic, everyone somehow wanted to laugh. Tony and the others even looked teasingly at Barton and Natasha. They had long suspected there was something between the two of them.
"It’s pure comradeship. Don’t get the wrong idea."
Natasha said, blushing slightly. Even with her thick skin, she felt awkward. This was practically a public execution.
Barton was even more embarrassed, considering he had a wife and children.
"We understand. Completely pure."
Everyone laughed. Natasha fiercely flipped them off, while inwardly sighing. So she would die in the future—and in such a way, too.
"You have to sacrifice someone to obtain the Soul Stone? That’s troublesome."
Future Tony frowned tightly. They could not sacrifice a teammate for a Stone. They could not do something like that.
Ivan offered a bad idea from the side. "You could have Pepper push you down. You were going to die anyway."
Future Tony gritted his teeth. "So you can take over afterward, right? Tony in this world is useless. He still hasn’t killed you by now."
Ivan sneered. "More like I’d kill him."
After numerous twists and turns, the Avengers successfully obtained all the Infinity Stones. Then Banner snapped his fingers, Thanos launched a sneak attack, and the final battle erupted.
"Avengers, assemble."
Those words made everyone’s blood surge. They even could not help applauding Future Steve—except Thor, who glared fiercely at Future Steve. That bastard could lift Thor’s Hammer, yet he had lied before and said he could not.
Future Steve wore a smile. In truth, he had wanted to say those words for a long time, but for some reason, he kept getting interrupted.
"I am Iron Man!"
In the end, Iron Man snapped his fingers, and Thanos turned to ash. Everyone could not help sighing, then looked at Iron Man with reverence. No matter how terrible his personality was, he was ultimately a true Super Hero.
Future Tony was not afraid. Instead, he smiled and said, "So that’s how I die. Not bad."
Wang Bert smiled. "Actually, Strange meant that Banner still had one hand left."
Everyone burst into laughter. Future Tony put on an act and said, "How could I have forgotten that?"
Future Banner said helplessly, "Leave me one hand. I still need to use the bathroom."
"This makes no sense. Why do I have to be the one snapping my fingers? Forget everyone else, those women are so strong. Any one of them could snap their fingers, right?"
Tony could not help complaining. "Especially Captain Marvel. With her strength, snapping her fingers would at most cost her an arm.
"And Strange, were you setting me up? Everyone else was fighting while you were over there playing with water?"
Strange said calmly, "I told you, that was me from another world."
"Don’t ask. One in fourteen million."
Wang Bert smiled and asked, "Do you know why I made you watch this?"
"For fun, to see our expressions, and to play a prank."
Tony answered. Everyone laughed again. That really was the Blood God’s personality.
"Am I that kind of person? I showed you this to tell you that no matter what you do, you will ultimately have a real battle with Thanos."
Wang Bert said solemnly, "You need to be prepared. Otherwise, not only will your world fail to improve, it will become even more miserable."
Future Tony gritted his teeth. "I’ll make every preparation. At worst, I’ll snap my fingers the moment it starts."
"I completely support you. Everyone, give Tony a round of applause. Tony, rest in peace. I’ll help take care of your wife and daughter."
Ivan immediately clapped and cheered. Future Tony said to Tony, "Tony, should we team up and get rid of him?"
"Completely agreed. Ivan, please try being a decent human being."
Tony shouted.
Everyone laughed loudly. Wang Bert shook his head and said, "All right, the movie is over. The gathering continues. We prepared quite a few ingredients from other worlds today, so enjoy yourselves."
"Ingredients from other worlds?"
Everyone cheered. Those were treasures that money could not buy.
Tony carried a glass of wine over to Wang Bert and asked, "Bert, did this movie really take only seven days to make?"
"Just seven days. We used a technology called Second Structure. Oh, and the person who invented it was someone I poached from Stark Industries."
Wang Bert said, "With him, making movies will become very easy in the future. I’m planning to make the entire Avengers series and rake in money."
"You poached one of my people?"
Tony was quite dissatisfied. After hesitating, he asked, "Bert, why do you know so much?"
"Does that matter? This world has already become completely different."
Wang Bert took a sip of wine and said, "And I am this world’s guardian. I will do everything in my power to protect it."
Tony said sourly, "It really doesn’t matter. It’s just annoying. I’m obviously the coolest guy around, yet you’ve stolen so much of my spotlight."
"Give me a break. You’re only a second-tier Super Hero. Your rights couldn’t be sold, so they had no choice but to use you as the lead."
Wang Bert said disdainfully. Tony said with a look of contempt, "Nonsense. I, Tony Stark, am top-tier in every world."
Wang Bert sneered. "Once you go to a parallel world, you’ll understand your status. Tony, don’t get your hopes up too high."
"I don’t believe that. Anyway, Future Tony and I are going back to continue exchanging technology. Also, I already told Steve about luring the snake out of its hole. He said he would personally take charge of the plan."
Tony shook his head and left with Future Tony—they had sparked plenty of ideas off each other these past few days, and all kinds of technologies had advanced by leaps and bounds.
While Wang Bert was showing everyone the movie, Eddie was hiding in Dr. Dora’s trunk, heading with her toward the Life Foundation laboratory.
"Hopefully everything goes smoothly. It’s been a long time since anything felt this exciting."
Eddie looked somewhat dazed, then shook his head with a self-mocking smile. Times had changed. Now, he was merely a loser living in the slums.
