We Need the Power of Mecha Zord
Elsewhere, the remaining Skull Crawlers were shrieking miserably, their cries so tragic that those who heard them felt sorrow, and those who saw them wept.
Kong turned around, and a chill shot from the soles of his feet straight to his scalp. He shuddered, covered his butt, and backed away two steps. He was still a child and simply could not bear to witness such a scene.
The Werewolves swarmed the Skull Crawler. After knocking it down, they borrowed the hyenas’ favorite trick, tormenting it until its body was still alive, but its heart was already dead.
Russell: "…"
Perhaps it was an illusion, but Ying Yingying seemed to silently move several steps away from him, her face full of disgust. The scene felt very familiar.
Not long after, the Skull Crawler let out a relieved scream and finally died as it wished.
The Dog Pack crawled out of the Skull Crawler’s abdomen and howled at the sky in celebration of their victory. Then they shrank down and rushed toward Russell in a swarm.
Russell sucked in a breath and repeatedly cried that they must not. He used his trident to raise a wall of water, blocking the foul-smelling Huskies. Regardless of whether they were willing, he pressed them all into the water and only let them go after washing them for quite a while.
Kong stood silently to one side. After watching the dogs fool around with Russell, he turned and strode into the distance, his back lonely and desolate. If Russell remembered correctly, Kong was the last of his kind on Skull Island, and perhaps the last one on Earth as well. He was destined to die alone.
"How pitiful. All alone, and even if he lives, he’ll have to taste loneliness forever…" Ying Yingying watched Kong leave, inexplicably feeling sad.
"If you feel that strongly about it, stay behind and keep him company."
"Forget it. I don’t like the rough-furred type, but I can introduce Kong to someone. Judging by the plot, he’ll probably like Weaver."
"Don’t be silly. Weaver’s face is too big; Kong won’t be interested. He likes beautiful women who can sing and dance, not serious actresses!"
"…"
Only after Kong had gone far away did the little broken boat chug over. Colonel Packard swept his gaze across the two enormous corpses, then looked in the direction Kong had left, his eyes brimming with intense hatred.
"No, you can’t do this. Kong is the island’s guardian. If you insist on killing him, the skull monsters will crawl out from underground, and the entire island will become a living hell. Besides, these few guns of ours can’t kill him anyway. You’ll only get everyone killed!"
The old soldier Mark stopped Colonel Packard. He had lived on the island for nearly thirty years and could imagine how terrifying that sight would be. The tribespeople had shown him kindness, and he could not stand by and watch.
Colonel Packard grabbed Mark by the collar, fire blazing in his eyes. "It killed my men, my comrades, my brothers. How do you expect me to let go of this hatred?"
"But you’ll get even more people killed!" Mark refused to yield an inch and shouted back.
"The monsters are already dead. Kong killed them all. Look at those two giant beasts. Are you telling me there could be even more monsters, even bigger ones?" Colonel Packard pointed at the two Skull Crawler corpses, speaking with absolute conviction.
Because of the consumption of energy and matter, the number of creatures in the food chain decreased with every higher level. Those two Skull Crawlers had to be the final bosses.
There couldn’t be any more, or it would be unscientific!
"You don’t understand. Kong’s parents were even bigger, yet they were still killed by the skull monsters. Those two are far from the strongest monsters." Mark made it clear that once someone came to this island, they should stop talking about science. This was not science’s territory.
"I only believe what I see with my own eyes. Unless you can show me proof right now, otherwise…"
Rumble—
The mountains collapsed, river water surged into the air, and the ground shook violently. Tremors as powerful as an eight-magnitude earthquake spread across the entire island.
The shockwave passed in an instant, more like a violently detonated bomb. Everyone fell into the water, and after climbing back onto the boat, they saw a sight they would never forget for the rest of their lives.
Between the distant mountains, black fountains shot into the sky, looking just like erupting oil wells. Water sprayed high into the air and rained down, each black droplet coming alive. They were all Skull Crawlers. There were too many to count, and among them were quite a few enormous monsters, visibly over a hundred meters long.
"C-Colonel, didn’t you… say you only believed your own eyes?" Mark swallowed and asked shakily, nearly forgetting how to speak.
"Mm!"
"Then what… what do we do now?"
"Turn back, leave, go home!" Colonel Packard was already dumbfounded. He immediately turned the boat around and headed out of the island.
Brothers, I’m taking the other surviving brothers and retreating. It’s not that I won’t avenge you, but with this many monsters, Kong is definitely dead!
The little broken boat chugged along the waterway, making its way out of the island…
Russell raised a stream of water and pinned down fifteen Huskies. Those idiots feared neither heaven nor earth. Seeing the monster eruption, they actually wanted to charge in and fight head-on.
Weren’t Huskies supposed to be cowards? Why weren’t they scared at all?
"Jason, should we go take a look? It was probably some Reincarnator team that stepped on a landmine and caused the plot to go out of control." A trace of anxiety flashed through Ying Yingying’s eyes, and she feared it might be her teammates.
"How are we going? Walking over?" Russell was speechless. With his small frame, if he did not use a Character Card, he would be swallowed by that black tide the moment he went over. Not even bone fragments would remain.
"I have a Flying Carpet in my Space Ring!"
"Flying Carpet…" Russell murmured. He lowered his head thoughtfully. "Come to think of it, you can fly, right?"
"Y-you… what are you planning?" Ying Yingying froze in place, a terrible premonition rising within her.
"Hehe…"
Clouds and mist shrouded the mountain peaks. A black dot slowly flew through the air, moving at an extremely sluggish speed and occasionally losing power, plunging downward for a distance.
"Too slow. Did you skim some of the Magic Power I gave you?" Russell sat on Ying Yingying’s waist, while she stretched out both arms and soared through the air in a Superman pose.
"How can you treat a girl like this? Doesn’t your conscience hurt?" Ying Yingying was about to go crazy. No, she was already crazy.
"Of course not. I don’t have a conscience in the first place!"
As Russell spoke, he raised a hand and pressed it against Ying Yingying’s back, sending her a little Magic Power.
"Don’t touch my back with your dirty hand. It’s disgusting." Even after receiving Magic Power, Ying Yingying was not happy at all.
"You think saying that will make me touch your butt? Dream on. It’d hurt my hand!"
"Ahhh—"
"Don’t worry, I’m a germaphobe. I laid down a layer of plastic wrap before touching you…"
"Ahhh, that’s even more disgusting! Take off the plastic wrap, hurry up and take it off!"
The two stumbled along, but fortunately, the straight-line distance through the air was shortest. They caught up with the final wave of the eruption.
The unlucky people who had stepped on the landmine really were Reincarnators. There were five of them, surrounded by a Skull Crawler horde. The five were extremely powerful. Despite being encircled by thousands upon thousands of Skull Crawlers, they had held on until now.
The five were distinctly dressed in red, black, blue, yellow, and pink combat suits. Their weapons were all different as well: a longsword, battle axe, bow, spear, and dagger. They coordinated flawlessly and were skilled in combined attacks. Although they were at a disadvantage, their defense was extremely tight, so watertight that not even a drop could slip through.
Russell couldn’t shake the feeling that he had seen these people somewhere before!
His mouth twitched, then he desperately shook his head, dispelling the absurd thought from his mind. Impossible. What era was this? These days, Kamen Rider was more popular in tokusatsu shows.
"Jason, don’t those five down there look familiar?" Ying Yingying asked in confusion.
"No. You’re seeing things."
"Impossible. I had a childhood too!"
"No, your childhood was Bald Qiang and the two bears."
At that moment, the five below gathered together, raised their right hands, spread their fingers, and struck an unbearably embarrassing pose.
"We need the power of Mecha Zord!!"
Russell: "…"
