When Gods Fight, Mortals Suffer
The various civilizations of the universe also had certain rules.
For planets that had yet to enter the interstellar age and officially connect with other civilizations,
even if they were discovered, no one was allowed to launch an invasion without provocation.
At most, they could land on the planet and look around, taking a few things with them, but generally, they could not cause excessive destruction.
This was to prevent the races on the various planets of the universe from being completely wiped out before they had even begun to sprout.
Of course, these were merely rules among the major civilizations. Some lawless powerhouses would certainly ignore such rules outright.
"One of the Nine Realms, huh? The gods of Asgard probably haven’t taken responsibility for a long time either."
At the mention of Asgard, Lex’s eyes flickered as he spoke.
Gods had once appeared on Mogri and received the worship of countless Mogri, leaving behind many temples and altars.
However, the gods who had appeared throughout Mogri’s long history had not shown themselves for more than two thousand years.
All kinds of natural disasters, man-made calamities, and catastrophes had caused many casualties among the Mogri.
Countless people had prayed for the gods to appear and help them survive their trials, but there had never been any response.
In the end, it was the continued advancement of technology that allowed Mogri to connect with the various civilizations of the universe.
Only after they brought the Great God of the Void Kassadin from beyond their world did he help them kill the Desert Disaster.
If their civilization had not entered the interstellar age and had been unable to exchange information with other civilizations beyond their planet,
the Desert Disaster might have gradually destroyed Mogri’s entire ecosystem as it grew over time.
"The gods of Asgard indeed hadn’t appeared for nearly a thousand years."
"However, when the Chitauri invaded, Thor of Asgard still lent Earth a hand and did his utmost."
When Tony heard Lex bring up gods, he sensed that Lex did not seem to have a very good impression of them.
Still, Tony spoke truthfully and did not excessively praise Asgard.
After all, over the years, humanity on Earth had also encountered many natural disasters and hardships. They had prayed for gods to appear and save them from danger, yet there had never been any sign of them.
Moreover, Tony had only heard of one alien invasion so far, and personally witnessed two others.
The first was something Nick Fury had told him about, where Captain Marvel drove the invaders away.
The other two had been the arrival of the Destroyer and the Chitauri army’s attack on Earth.
Both incidents were inseparable from Loki, and both had been caused entirely by Loki’s willfulness and extremism.
It would not have been an exaggeration to call it gods fighting while mortals suffered.
Thus, Tony had never thought highly of Loki. He had only been willing to help before because Miss Sonia had forcibly shoved Loki onto him, while Thor kept begging him to save his brother.
Although Tony’s opinion of Loki was extremely low, and he would not have felt much even if Loki died right before him, Tony still greatly approved of Thor as a person.
Not only was Thor powerful, but after realizing the responsibilities he bore, he had also been willing to fight for the Nine Realms and even lay down his life for them.
Furthermore, Thor was cheerful and easygoing, and he did not look down on weaker people.
As far as Tony was concerned, Thor’s only flaws were that he cared too deeply about family and had an idiot brother like Loki who caused trouble everywhere.
"Thor, God King Odin’s son?"
"His character does seem decent enough. I just don’t know whether he’s putting on an act or whether that’s truly his nature."
Upon hearing the name Tony mentioned, Lex recalled some rumors about Thor that had circulated through the universe in recent years.
Over the past few years, Thor had been traveling everywhere to restore peace to the Nine Realms.
According to the rumors, Thor was about to inherit God King Odin’s throne and become the new king of Asgard.
The only question was whether Thor was building momentum for his ascension to the throne, or whether he truly wished to devote himself to the Nine Realms he would rule.
After gaining great power, Lex had gradually come to understand some of the thoughts of those so-called gods.
He knew that when those gods were willing to act, it was merely the pity of the strong, along with a desire to be worshipped.
However, in Lex’s view, since it was a force he had created and one that fell within his protection, he should naturally contribute and take care of it.
Otherwise, if one merely enjoyed the praise of countless people while refusing even to lend a helping hand, one did not deserve to be called a god.
After the great Great God of the Void Kassadin established the Void Cult and Void Island, he had also set Void Island on the path of development.
Moreover, it had gradually begun to take the shape of a proper force. That was what a god ought to be like.
"I do approve of him as a person."
"If there’s a chance in the future, I’ll introduce Thor to you."
"Once you meet him, you might not like him, but you definitely won’t dislike him either."
Tony said with a smile upon hearing Lex’s words.
"You’re that confident?"
"Then it seems you have quite a good impression of Asgard?"
Lex was somewhat surprised.
"Let’s not talk about my impression of Asgard. I’ve never been there, after all, and the only Asgardians I’ve met are Thor and his brother Loki."
"Still, Thor is my friend. The impression he’s given me makes him impossible to hate."
Tony did not dare claim that all Asgardians were good. He merely spoke of his own impression of Thor.
From Lex’s attitude toward gods, Tony knew that gods had probably once appeared on Mogri, but those so-called gods had clearly not done much.
As a result, Lex, who came from Mogri, had an extremely poor impression of the gods of his homeworld.
Just then, Lalatina came up carrying a wine barrel more than two meters tall.
After pouring wine for Mr. Tony and Lex,
Tony and Lex began chatting, gradually becoming more familiar with each other.
Then, Lex brought up Tony’s recent research problems.
"Tony, aside from the gravity device, what else are you researching? You can tell me."
"Perhaps I can provide you with some technical personnel to help you get through the difficulties more smoothly."
Lex said.
"I’ve recently been researching wormhole jump technology, but there are some problems I can’t solve."
"Although Jarvis has found me many books and pieces of information, what’s written in the books is always only superficial, making it difficult for my research to advance any further."
After learning what kind of person Lex was, Tony did not stand on ceremony and spoke of the problem he was currently facing.
"Gravity devices are the fundamental core of fighters and warships."
"However, spatial wormhole jump technology is, after all, one of the most crucial technologies for fighters and warships."
"It’s only natural that you can’t develop it alone."
"How long do you plan to stay on Xandar after the New Year?"
"If you have time, I’ll have scientists from Mogri come over to help you afterward."
"If you don’t have time, I’ll have someone send you some research data, and you can see whether it gives you any inspiration."
Lex was not surprised to hear about the direction of Tony’s research or the difficulties he had encountered.
