White Queen

"God does exist, but don’t expect too much. He’s busy right now and has no time to help us."

Wang Bert shrugged. "By the way, I’m more reliable than God."

"BOSS, you’re only human. God is a deity," Yuriko reminded him.

Wang Bert smiled without replying. "This is a disaster for ordinary people, but for mutants, it might be a good thing."

Psylocke froze for a moment, then said thoughtfully, "The world needs mutants, because only mutants can deal with those Evil Believers. If that happens, the status of mutants will rise dramatically."

"It is indeed a good thing, but there are quite a few hidden dangers."

After thinking for a moment, Yuriko said, "The quality of mutants varies greatly. If they suddenly gain high status, trouble will definitely follow, just like with Human Torch John.

"Besides, the higher-ups among humans will definitely increase military spending to develop weapons against Evil Believers and mutants."

"Though there are hidden dangers, overall, it’s a good thing," Psylocke said.

"Before the Evil Believers are wiped out, it is indeed a good thing. I’ll talk to Hank and the Professor about how to handle this."

Wang Bert said, "I’ve been a little busy lately. Yuriko, pay more attention to the company."

Wang Bert had recently been busy repairing the Time-Space Watch and had very little spare time. If Greed had not appeared this time, he would not have left the laboratory at all.

"BOSS, Rebirth Group is getting bigger and bigger. I can’t keep it under control by myself. I need others to help me," Yuriko said.

"I’ll find someone to help you as soon as possible. However, mutant upper management isn’t easy to find," Wang Bert said.

In the blink of an eye, three days passed. During those three days, aside from large numbers of people protesting outside the White House and demanding that the president eliminate the Evil Believers, nothing major happened. Everything remained fairly calm.

Wang Bert, who had been staying in the laboratory, made a rare visit to the company today—someone he was rather interested in had come calling. Uh, not that kind of interest. He was a good man.

"The White Queen truly lives up to her reputation."

Looking at the elegant, generous blonde beauty before him, Wang Bert could not help nodding. Compared to the White Queen, Viper was practically like a Joker.

"Thank you for the compliment, Mr. Wang."

The White Queen smiled, though she was genuinely somewhat surprised. He was sincerely praising her beauty and bearing, with not the slightest trace of lust in his eyes. He did not seem like an eighteen-year-old boy at all.

After the White Queen sat down, Wang Bert asked, "May I ask why the White Queen came to see me?"

"There are two matters. Let’s discuss the first one first."

The White Queen said, "I heard that Wolverine Logan is one of your subordinates, Mr. Wang?"

When she mentioned Logan’s name, the White Queen’s hatred was obvious. Wang Bert said, "Yes. Although that guy runs off to Mutant Academy every day, he is indeed a subordinate I hired at a high salary."

The White Queen was speechless. She complained, "You still haven’t fired someone like that?"

Wang Bert shrugged. "Logan may be a bit of a bastard, but he’s still reliable in a fight."

The White Queen snorted and got straight to the point. "Mr. Wang, are you willing to sell Wolverine’s life? I can offer a high price."

"You have a grudge against Logan?" Wang Bert asked.

"He caused my sister’s death and even left her body exposed in the wilderness," the White Queen said through gritted teeth.

"Don’t blame others for your own responsibility. You were the one who got your sister killed. If you hadn’t been captured, your sister would never have been used by Stryker."

Wang Bert sneered. "Besides, Logan had amnesia at the time. Otherwise, he would never have abandoned your sister. He may be a scumbag, but he’s a scumbag with loyalty and affection."

Yuriko silently complained from the side, Isn’t he still a scumbag?

"How do you know so much? Did Logan tell you?" the White Queen asked with a frown.

She quietly used her power to enter Wang Bert’s mind and search through his memories. She was a mutant with multiple abilities. Aside from being able to Diamondize her entire body, she also possessed powerful Mind Power.

In fact, the White Queen had once been the Professor’s student. Unfortunately, they held different beliefs and eventually went their separate ways.

Wang Bert did not stop her. The moment the White Queen invaded his mind, the scene before her suddenly changed—Wang Bert stood proudly in the void, with countless lives submitting beneath his feet. Not only that, even the world trembled before him.

At that moment, Wang Bert’s eyes turned toward the White Queen, filled with endless majesty, like a heavenly god.

Ah! The White Queen suddenly rose and staggered backward, staring at Wang Bert in terror. Who exactly was he? How could he be so terrifying? Wang Bert said calmly, "Invading someone else’s mind at will is very rude. Since you’re beautiful, I’ll let it go this time. Next time, I’ll throw you into a volcano."

Still shaken, the White Queen looked at Wang Bert. Then she seemed to realize something and said, "I didn’t expect you to be a psychic as well, Mr. Wang."

In the White Queen’s view, she must have fallen victim to his trick. Wang Bert did not explain further. He motioned for her to sit again, then said, "Logan is my subordinate. I won’t give him up. If you want revenge, go find him yourself."

"I will find him."

The White Queen sat down again and took a deep breath. "Mr. Wang, on behalf of the Hellfire Club, I invite you to join us. The Hellfire Club is an organization made up of elite-level mutants. If you join us, your wealth and power will multiply several times over."

"Not interested. In fact, I really dislike your Hellfire Club," Wang Bert said.

"Mr. Wang, ordinary people, as well as those mutants who failed to evolve, are not worth helping. We are gods, gods above all living beings," the White Queen said.

Wang Bert smiled and turned to Yuriko. "Yuriko, what happened to the last person who said something like that?"

"He’s still hanging from the flagpole. He hasn’t eaten for five days and nights."

Yuriko said, "But he probably won’t die. It rained two days ago."

"Lucky for her," Wang Bert said.

"It seems you and Psylocke share the same beliefs."

The White Queen was not surprised. After all, he was the Mutant Savior. She said, "Mr. Wang, no matter how much you do, humans will never accept us mutants. In fact, according to the information we’ve received, the human higher-ups have been trying to find ways to deal with you."

"I know. I’m also trying to find ways to deal with them. Let’s not talk about that. It’s boring."

Wang Bert waved his hand. "White Queen, are you interested in coming to work for me? Rebirth Group is expanding too quickly, and I’m severely short on manpower."

Not only was the White Queen powerful, she was also a business genius. Wang Bert had long had his eye on her—Rebirth Group was badly lacking mutant talent.

Other departments could be handed over to ordinary people, but the core of Rebirth Group had to be mutants.

The White Queen gave a slight derisive laugh. She had intended to mock Wang Bert a little, but the image of that towering figure from before arose in her mind. She said, "Mr. Wang, I’m doing very well in the Hellfire Club. Besides, my assets are no less than yours. You can’t afford to hire me."

"What is money? If I wanted to, I could become the richest man in the world at any time."

Wang Bert said, "White Queen, only I can give you what you truly want."

"I don’t think so."

The White Queen was dismissive. She rose to her feet and said, "Mr. Wang, if you become interested, the Hellfire Club will welcome you at any time."

With that, the White Queen turned to leave. She was the queen of the Hellfire Club. How could she possibly work for Wang Bert?

"I’m preparing to resurrect Silver Fox," Wang Bert said calmly.

The White Queen suddenly turned around and shouted unhappily, "Mr. Wang, that joke isn’t funny."

Wang Bert held out his hand. "You may leave. Yuriko, see the guest out."

"Please," Yuriko said.

The White Queen stared fixedly at Wang Bert. Wang Bert picked up his coffee and took a sip, looking utterly calm and unconcerned.

The White Queen suddenly smiled and leaned forward. "Mr. Wang, if you can truly resurrect my sister, forget working for you. Whatever you want me to do, I’ll do it."

Wang Bert sighed. "There goes more money."

The White Queen froze, not understanding what he meant. Just then, the cover of the ventilation duct suddenly fell and smashed toward her. Startled, the White Queen hurriedly transformed into a dazzling diamond form.

Bang! The cover slammed fiercely into the White Queen. She was completely unharmed, while the cover shattered into pieces.

Yuriko was not surprised at all. Compared to Mystique back then, this was nothing.

As the White Queen brushed debris from her body, she asked in astonishment, "What was that about?"

"Don’t try to seduce me casually in the future. I’m the man you’ll never have."

Wang Bert shook his head. "The reason Logan works for me is that I can resurrect your sister, Silver Fox. This plan will officially begin in four days."

The White Queen asked excitedly, "Really?"

"You’ll know whether it’s true in four days. You can come along then," Wang Bert said.

The White Queen hesitated for a moment before asking, "Even without me, you would still resurrect my sister, right?"

"Yes. The unruly Wolverine sacrificed himself to work for someone else in order to resurrect his goddess. Once Silver Fox comes back to life, she’ll definitely be very touched."

Wang Bert said, "In another eleven months, you’ll be drinking at your nephew’s one-month celebration. Uh, Yuriko, does America have a tradition like that?"

Yuriko spread her hands. "Not really."

"Over my dead body," the White Queen said hatefully. If she did not take part in this, all the credit would go to Logan. Her sister would surely fall even deeper for him then. Besides, if she refused, who knew whether Bert Wang would secretly tamper with things?

Better safe than sorry. The White Queen wanted to ensure that her sister could be resurrected with absolute certainty.

The White Queen began seriously considering changing jobs. After a moment, she released her diamond form and said, "If you poach me, the Black King will definitely be unhappy. With his personality, he’ll absolutely come after you."

"So what? If he dares make a move, I’ll take the opportunity to eliminate him."

Wang Bert sneered. He had no favorable impression of the Hellfire Club whatsoever.

"Mr. Wang, you may be strong, but the Black King and the others are no pushovers. With your strength, you may not necessarily be able to defeat them."

The White Queen said, "If the Hellfire Club were so easy to deal with, Magneto would have destroyed it long ago. He has always been eyeing the Hellfire Club greedily."

"Can the Hellfire Club resurrect your sister? No. But I can."

Wang Bert said calmly, "White Queen, believe me. Eliminating them won’t be difficult for me."

"Since you’re not afraid, what do I have to fear? If you can truly resurrect my sister, I can switch to your side."

The White Queen looked at Wang Bert, then suddenly smiled. "But let me make this clear first, Bert Wang. If you’re deceiving me, I’ll show you what it means to wish you were dead."

Wang Bert stood and extended his hand to the White Queen. "Welcome to Rebirth Group. You’ll first serve as my secretary. Once you’re familiar with the group’s operations, you’ll be promoted to general manager.

"As for whether you want to be a Super Hero or fight for humanity, that will be your own decision. I won’t force you."

"You’re actually interested in my business talent?"

The White Queen was somewhat surprised. She took Wang Bert’s hand and scratched his palm twice—a habitual motion. In the Hellfire Club, the White Queen was mainly responsible for seducing the powerful and wealthy. Of course, she would not actually do anything with them; she would use illusions to handle them.

"I told you, I’m the man you can’t have."

Wang Bert helplessly withdrew his hand. The White Queen was about to say something when the floor suddenly split open. With a bang, she fell through it. Fortunately, Wang Bert had specially designed it so that there was no one below, only an empty room.

Wang Bert said to Yuriko, "I think when she comes back up, she’ll complain about the poor quality of our office."

"She definitely will," Yuriko said. "BOSS, can she be trusted? Everyone in the Hellfire Club is selfish to the extreme."

"Do you know? The effect of force is mutual. When she used Mind Power to touch me, it was equivalent to me using Mind Power to touch her."

Wang Bert said, "Based on what I just saw, she is full of feelings for her sister, Silver Fox. As long as we control Silver Fox, she won’t betray us. I can resurrect Silver Fox, and I can make Silver Fox die again."

Yuriko nodded. "Then there’s nothing to worry about."

The White Queen’s slightly frantic voice came from below. "Hey, I can hear you!"

"That was the point."

Wang Bert shrugged. "I, Bert Wang, am an upright gentleman. I never speak ill of people behind their backs. I always say it right to their faces."

The White Queen had no idea where to begin complaining. She said, "I’ll go back and resign to the Black King. I’ll come find you tomorrow."

"You’re resigning now? You won’t wait four days?" Wang Bert asked.

"I won’t wait. What you said is probably true. Otherwise, Logan wouldn’t be working for you."

The White Queen shook her head. She was a decisive woman. Once she set her mind on something, she would never drag things out—an indispensable gift for a successful businessperson.

"Good. Take this."

Wang Bert nodded in satisfaction and tossed a bracelet down to the White Queen. "This is a Space Bracelet. Once activated, it will Teleportation you to my side."

"You can actually attach your ability to an object?"

The White Queen was quite astonished. She accepted the bracelet and said, "Don’t worry. The Black King can’t do anything to me. I’ve spent so many years in the Hellfire Club; I didn’t spend them for nothing. Not only will I leave safely, I’ll also take the money that belongs to me."

"Then I’ll be waiting," Wang Bert said with a smile.
