Zheng Xian’s Plan
"I believe I am innocent…"
Watching the trial video playing on Zheng Xian’s phone, Old Li’s face immediately darkened.
After the war, these Class-A war criminals had actually denied everything they had done, made excuses for their actions, and even claimed they had done nothing wrong.
They flatly denied the crimes they had committed during their invasion.
As someone who had witnessed it all firsthand, Old Li could not help but burn with rage.
"Damn it, it’s only been two years since Nanjing, and those bastards still won’t admit it?"
Old Li was about to explode with anger. As a witness, how could he not know what those invaders had done?
"They even heavily whitewashed their actions in their own textbooks. Go ask a Japanese elementary school student from the future what they should do if their country lacks resources, and those kids will answer: go rob China."
It was a diseased nation, despised by all.
"In this era, not a single Japanese person is innocent."
Zheng Xian emphasized it again.
"They built a place called Yasukuni Shrine, specifically to worship war criminals. Those people whose sins in China reached the heavens could still receive the worship of their descendants even after dying of old age."
If even one or two of these things had not happened, Zheng Xian would not have planned to strike from the shadows.
"Tell me your plan. Today, I, Old Li, will risk my life to accompany you!"
Old Li had always been a hot-blooded soldier. After seeing what would happen in the future, his hatred made his teeth itch.
To ensure such things would not happen again in the future, he was prepared to do something big with Zheng Xian.
"I really like people from this era." Zheng Xian smiled at Old Li’s willingness to help.
No one hated Japan more deeply than people of this era.
This was true national hatred and family hatred. Unlike in the future, after decades had passed, many people had even forgotten their hatred.
"It’s almost December. On the thirteenth, a small meteorite will fall onto that island. By then, our coastal regions will need to prepare for flooding."
Zheng Xian said this expressionlessly. In his plan, that would be the day Japan paid the price.
"Before that, I hope you, Old Li, can destroy all their ships and leave them without the slightest chance of survival."
Destroying the ships was naturally meant to leave them nowhere to escape.
"Destroy their ships? That’s what we were going to do anyway."
Old Li nodded expressionlessly, his eyes icy as he recalled the massacre from two years ago.
"However, before that, we’ll still need a little warm-up."
Zheng Xian sneered and continued, "After exchanging letters several times, we’ve gained some understanding of this world’s development."
It followed roughly the same course as the Main World. Japan had become increasingly carried away by its victories. After tasting the benefits of war and finding China increasingly unable to resist, they had attacked America two years earlier after being driven into a corner.
They launched a sneak attack on Pearl Harbor, annihilating an American fleet and greatly easing their own pressure.
Now, in the Pacific Ocean, America and Japan were fighting so fiercely they were practically smashing each other’s heads in.
Especially recently, China had risen abruptly and driven Japan out of its homeland.
That had allowed Japan to concentrate its strength and shift it toward the Pacific Ocean.
At present, Japan and America were locked in a bitter, evenly matched battle.
In Zheng Xian’s eyes, they were simply dogs biting each other. That could be put to use.
"Before that day arrives, we can make full use of the American military. Let them strike Japan too and draw away their attention."
"I’ll bring a group of people over and establish an independent organization in this world to operate through. During this period, I plan to cooperate with some American generals, provide them with support, and have them attack Japan’s homeland as well."
It was a simple strategy: drive the wolves against the tigers and let America and Japan fight. China only needed to sit back and watch the tigers battle.
Then, on that day in mid-December, Zheng Xian would personally launch the final attack.
Enemies were enemies. They deserved no mercy whatsoever.
Zheng Xian also knew that there were anti-war activists in Japan, and indeed many innocent people.
But they were a minority, after all.
In Zheng Xian’s view, blood debts could only be repaid with blood.
There were still more than half a month left, so Zheng Xian and the others intended to give them one final chance at survival. They would issue a final ultimatum in Japan.
Anyone willing to leave Japan would be given a way out.
As for those who had already gone completely mad, they naturally would not be willing to leave their homeland.
Ninety-nine percent of Japan was filled with such madmen. Even if you threatened to bomb their homeland, they might not leave of their own accord.
Since they did not want to leave, then they could be destroyed along with that nest of evil.
"Cooperate with America?"
At present, America and China had one of their rare exceptionally close cooperative relationships. After all, they were comrades-in-arms with a common enemy.
So Old Li said nothing more and merely nodded.
"There’s an American general who has always been planning to bomb Japan’s homeland in retaliation for Pearl Harbor. This time, we’re going to give him a little extra."
America had a famous barbecue master named Curtis LeMay. Ever since the Japanese Army bombed Pearl Harbor, he had been planning retaliatory operations.
He organized several bomber formations that carpet-bombed Tokyo, Japan’s capital.
It became known as the Tokyo Bombing.
Countless napalm bombs and incendiary bombs were dropped over major Japanese cities, causing innumerable casualties.
The number of civilians who died directly or indirectly in the fire attacks reached five hundred thousand, while the number of victims exceeded several million.
Many Japanese buildings were made of wood, which only made the incendiary bombs more devastating.
Countless homes were destroyed, and more than half the area of major cities was burned into ruins.
Even so, with countless civilians displaced and killed, Japan’s militarist government still did not consider surrender. It remained determined to make a final desperate stand and perish together with its enemies.
If the American military had not finally dropped two atomic bombs, becoming the final straws that broke the camel’s back, Japan might not even have wanted to surrender then.
Zheng Xian’s next plan was to contact this American general and make the Tokyo Bombing happen ahead of schedule.
He would also provide a degree of technical support, making the incendiary bombs burn even more fiercely.
"America will bomb them. At the same time, we’ll broadcast to them and issue a final ultimatum. Anyone who doesn’t want to go to hell with militarism should leave Japan’s homeland as soon as possible."
"Given how crazy the Japanese are, they definitely still won’t surrender then. If that happens, it’ll be our turn to take the stage."
Zheng Xian sneered. The Zhiyuan was ready and could launch an attack at any time.
When that time came, Zheng Xian would show no mercy.
