Chapter 1330 Extreme Fear

Back in the room, Orlando sat silently on the sofa, lost in thought.

After a long while, he finally looked up and said, "What are your thoughts on the Family's predicament?"

Harry swallowed. He had just been thinking about this very issue and now had a preliminary idea.

"Father, I think the opponent is too terrifying. We can't keep enduring this, otherwise the Family will suffer heavy losses."

These words came straight from his heart. Today, his brother Daniel died. Who knew if it would be him tomorrow?

The assassinations were completely random, and the methods were impossible to guard against, which filled him with worry for his own safety.

Orlando asked, "If it were up to you to decide, what would you do?"

"Father, I don't think we can wait any longer. We should proactively negotiate with the George Family.

Although we don't know who the killer is, the final decision must be in Ye Bufan's hands. As long as we can make peace with him, the Family's crisis can be resolved."

"Peace talks are a good idea, but what about the conditions? How should we propose them? And if the other party doesn't agree, what should we do?"

Harry didn't know if Father was asking for his opinion or testing him, so he could only honestly state his thoughts.

"As for the conditions, I think we should lower them. We are completely being used as a pawn by the Brown Family in this matter. They are the ones who will ultimately profit, and there's no need for us to lose the entire Family.

Furthermore, if the other party doesn't accept peace talks, we should find a way to hide for a while and not sit here waiting to die.

No matter what, Ye Bufan is in prison, far less free than us outside.

Moreover, our Field Family has properties all over M Country. As long as we hide outside Apple City, I don't believe his assassins can find us."

Orlando nodded, "Well said. Tomorrow, I'll contact the Brown Family and see what Creston thinks.

Given Ye Bufan's ruthlessness, I suspect they aren't doing well either and will likely agree to our lower conditions."

The Brown Family, just as Orlando had guessed, was indeed in a difficult situation.

Originally, the entire Family had hidden in a castle-like room, guarding it like startled birds. As the clock struck midnight, and the day passed, these people finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Banks's expression showed a hint of triumph, "It seems the other party isn't omnipotent after all.

We are hiding here, and even the most powerful assassin can't do anything."

Creston also relaxed considerably, "Alright, it seems their plan has failed. There's no need for us all to sit here guarding. The beds are ready, everyone rest."

Upon hearing this decision, everyone in the Brown Family cheered, happy to have won this victory.

But just as everyone returned to their beds, they found the Family's core member, Creston's Grandson Marlton, sitting on the sofa, still motionless.

He was wearing a bulletproof vest and a helmet with a visor, his defenses extremely tight.

"Marlton, what are you doing? Are you asleep? Go to bed quickly."

Banks reached out and patted his nephew's shoulder. In his opinion, the other party must have been bored and fallen asleep sitting there.

But unexpectedly, with that touch, Marlton immediately slumped sideways on the sofa, showing no signs of waking up.

"What's going on?"

The others present immediately realized something was wrong. Banks hurriedly reached out and took off his helmet, only to find Marlton's face pale, his eyes wide open, but his pupils completely dilated.

Banks quickly put his hand under his nostrils; there was no breath, and his skin was cold to the touch. He had clearly been dead for a long time.

"My God, when did he die?"

As a cry of alarm rang out, everyone's hearts were filled with fear.

Under such strict guard, a core member of their Family had been silently killed without them even noticing. Such a method was truly terrifying.

Under such circumstances, they had no safety whatsoever.

Compared to the opponent's terrifying methods, they were simply meat on a chopping block. The other party could kill whoever they wanted, however they wanted.

"Look, there's a note on the helmet."

Someone among the Family members cried out in surprise. A note was conspicuously stuck on the back of Marlton's helmet, which read, "Today's mission complete, continuing tomorrow."

"Oh my God, it's too terrifying."

Gasps of fright erupted from the crowd.

Creston's face was grim. He turned to his descendants, "Take off all your helmets."

Upon hearing his command, those present immediately realized something. Perhaps the assassin was hiding among them.

These people took off their helmets while backing away, warily scanning their surroundings, keeping their distance from everyone nearby.

Creston looked for a long time but couldn't find any flaws. These people present were indeed all members of their Family; there was no sign of anyone having infiltrated.

"Alright, everyone out."

Creston left the room with a ashen face and returned to his study, with Banks following close behind.

"Father, what should we do?"

Banks said, somewhat distraught.

"Damn Ye Bufan, is he hiring assassins or the God of Death? Why can't we defend against them?"

Creston was furious, grabbing a bottle of red wine from the table and smashing it to the ground, venting his frustration and fear.

Today's defense was the strongest their Family could muster. If they couldn't withstand the opponent under these circumstances, what else could he use to defend?

What is the most terrifying thing? It's facing an unknown enemy, one you can't touch or see, and you don't know when he will strike, or who he will target.

One person killed per day—this rule was like a huge rock pressing down on the hearts of everyone in the Brown Family, including Creston himself.

Although he knew in his heart that the other party would not personally target him, the Family Head, if all the Family members were slaughtered, what good would he, the Family Head, be?

Banks thought for a moment and said, "Father, why don't we also send assassins to the prison and kill Ye Bufan?"

"Are you out of your mind?"

In his anger, Creston slapped him across the face, "What we want is Angel Pharmaceuticals, what we want is money. What's the point of killing Ye Bufan?

Besides, do you know his relationship with those assassins? Do you know what kind of agreement they signed?

If he doesn't terminate it, what will be the consequences if these people continue to slaughter? Our Brown Family will be wiped out!"

"Uh…"

After being slapped, Banks finally realized what an absurd and terrible idea he had come up with in his extreme fear.

"Father, why don't we move to another place? Since we can't defend, let's just hide. I don't believe their assassins can chase us to cities outside Apple City."

Instinctively, he had the same idea as Harry: to escape, to flee Apple City and find a secret place to hide.
