Chapter 30: Dandruff

They originally thought it was just ordinary support, but they didn't expect the invaders' strength to far exceed the Precursors' understanding.

After the recent round of attacks, the Precursors judged that to deal with Godzilla, they would likely need to deploy a Level 9 Kaiju.

A Level 9 Kaiju, that was their civilization's strongest weapon, bar none!

Only the royal family of their homeworld had the authority to create Level 9 Kaiju; no other member of their race could.

And due to resource issues, there were only seven Level 9 Kaiju in their civilization.

Each one could not be mobilized in a short period, so the Precursors directly abandoned this planet.

Upon receiving this news, the Precursors who had called for help due to Godzilla's invasion were stunned.

However, their movements were not slow.

They emerged from their shelters, boarded a flying Kaiju, reached a Flesh Factory relatively far from Godzilla, and used the wormhole inside to leave.

This series of actions could be described as fluid and seamless, without any hesitation, suggesting this wasn't their first retreat.

Of course, not all Precursors were able to leave so smoothly.

Some Precursors, while still not far from Godzilla, boarded flying Kaiju, hoping to leave quickly.

Didn't that just put them right in the line of fire?

Taking off within Godzilla's radar range?

Did they really think Godzilla's "Internal Offline Ray" was just for show?

After Godzilla entered the Precursors' planet, he never let his guard down.

Therefore, upon detecting flying units, he directly used his Atomic Breath to shoot them down.

He would release his Atomic Breath either from his mouth or his tail, sometimes even alternating between the two.

This forced those Precursors who were "very close" to Godzilla—though still at some distance—to not dare to take off, instead choosing to have Kaiju carry them across the Land.

And after all the Precursors had left, all the wormholes immediately closed.

Not just the wormholes, but at the core of all the Flesh Factories, there was a "heart" which was the energy source for the entire "factory."

And after all the Precursors had left, these "hearts," under the Precursors' control, overloaded!

And when the "heart's" energy overloaded to a certain extent, the entire Flesh Factory immediately exploded!

Boom, boom, boom!

The roar instantly reverberated across the entire planet.

Even Godzilla, under such an intense explosion, couldn't help but shield his Eyes with his claws.

When the explosion subsided, the entire planet looked as if it had been hit by a meteor shower, with one crater after another appearing.

From space, the entire planet could be described as scarred and desolate, with no untouched areas.

And Godzilla was completely bewildered by this planet-wide explosion.

Why did it suddenly explode?

Godzilla looked around; the storms generated by the successive explosions made the planet's climate even harsher.

In a short time, this planet would not return to its previous state.

But then again, what was the previous environment like?

Godzilla hadn't really paid attention, only remembering the numerous Flesh Factories standing on the Land.

Before those "factories" successively self-destructed, Godzilla had already sensed the wormhole reactivating; now it seemed the Precursors had retreated and abandoned this planet.

What a pity.

Godzilla was still very curious about what other novel weapons the Precursors could create, but it seemed he wouldn't get to see them.

Godzilla shook his head, knocking off the dust, and then returned to his own world.

Since the Precursors had fled and the Kaiju-producing factories were gone, he had no reason to stay.

Then, Godzilla's figure abruptly disappeared from the planet's surface.

Aside from a pair of footprints where he had stood, he left no other trace.

Shatterdome.

After Godzilla entered the wormhole, everyone in the base watched the wormhole intently.

And not long after Godzilla entered, the wormhole's reaction disappeared.

This caused a cheer throughout the base.

They all believed Godzilla had dealt with the wormhole.

Although, in fact, that was indeed the case.

However, at the Shatterdome, some people were still repeatedly watching the battle between Godzilla and the Kaiju.

Newton was one of them.

Just then, Newton, having discovered something, excitedly paused the video.

He zoomed in on the video, watched it carefully, and after confirming he hadn't seen wrong, he grabbed the machine and left the room.

Midway, he even almost slipped and fell due to his excitement!

"General, General!"

Newton found General Pentecost, and with a puzzled expression, pointed at the screen.

"General, look here—when the Leviathan was hit by the Kaiju's Electromagnetic Cannon, a small piece of his scalp flew off!"

Newton was incredibly excited, his words becoming incoherent.

"And then? Dr. Newton."

General Pentecost looked closely; after zooming in, the Leviathan's head indeed seemed to be missing that small piece of scalp, or rather—dandruff?

"This is our only chance to understand the Leviathan; we must find that piece of scalp!"

"Doctor, such a small piece of scalp—don't make it difficult for me."

General Pentecost didn't even need to think; finding a tiny piece of scalp in the vast ocean.

You might as well throw a needle in and ask us to find it.

"It's different; the Leviathan has nuclear fusion reactions within him, and nuclear radiation has been detected in places where he stayed; such a large radiation source must be found!"

Pentecost's body stiffened, and he looked at Newton; ultimately, he still sent people to the depths of the Pacific Ocean to salvage the "dandruff" that was now floating somewhere unknown.

"Dr. Newton, I must remind you that the Shatterdome currently has no funding, and it's uncertain how long my base can last; that piece of scalp might not actually be found."

"I know, but we have to try."

So, the Shatterdome dispatched Jaegers to the sea where Godzilla and the Kaiju fought.

Of course, it was under the pretext of retrieving Kaiju corpses and checking if the wormhole had truly closed.

But only the pilots of the four deployed Jaegers knew they were going to look for "dandruff."

This made their mood very complex.

They never expected that what might be their last time piloting a Jaeger would be for such a reason.

And what surprised them even more was that they actually found that "dandruff"!

The Shatterdome did not tell anyone about the Godzilla tissue fragments.

Because such a thing could very well become humanity's next disaster!
