Chapter 49: Retreat

Aside from the Engineers, Godzilla currently had no plans to create other monsters.

At least not until the Underwater Temple was completed and the Monster Factory grew to a certain size, Godzilla did not intend to create large monsters.

The creation of large monsters would have a certain impact on the growth of the Monster Factory.

Godzilla was very curious to see what the Monster Factory would look like when its volume increased to tens of thousands of meters in diameter and height.

In the following days, Godzilla returned to his routine of searching for other worlds and training his abilities.

This caused the surrounding seabed to become very turbulent.

To avoid disturbing the construction of the Underwater Temple, Godzilla specifically went to another location to train his abilities.

In the previous world, after using his Atomic Breath multiple times, Godzilla discovered he had a deeper understanding of it.

Therefore, these exercises were not useless.

— Island Nation.

It had been ten years since Godzilla first landed in the Island Nation.

Now, the Island Nation was gradually recovering some of its vitality.

Under the governance of the Godzilla Cult, the chaos in the Island Nation actually began to disappear!

By now, except for a few isolated areas, other places had restored their original order, and some had even become more “civilized”!

Various countries marveled at this.

It had to be said that the Godzilla Cult was truly full of talented individuals.

They had actually managed to restore some vitality to this nation on the verge of collapse.

But clearly, not everyone wanted to see the Island Nation recover.

For example, the Island Nation’s former “masters.”

Logically, they should have made their move long ago.

But in reality, after receiving certain information, they did not rush to act; instead, they began to plant spies within the Godzilla Cult.

As a religious organization that cared nothing for nations, nothing for races, and treated everyone equally, the Godzilla Cult was the easiest organization to infiltrate.

But even so, it was not easy to rise to a high position.

To get their people into high-ranking positions within the Godzilla Cult, they expended an unknown amount of manpower and resources.

The reason they went to such great lengths was because they had received news that the Godzilla Cult was conducting human experiments.

And these were experiments involving the fusion of G-cells and human bodies.

They had already begun such experiments long ago.

Most of the failed specimens that were transported away and destroyed were of this kind.

However, the Godzilla Cult’s human experiments had made groundbreaking progress, reaching a level they could not have imagined!

At this moment, they thought of that man.

The man who had predicted Godzilla’s existence and that Godzilla would land.

Clearly, that man must have left something behind.

As the person who understood Godzilla the most, what that man left behind must be extraordinary.

And that was why the Godzilla Cult’s human experiments had achieved groundbreaking progress.

Unfortunately, the Godzilla Cult protected that information very well; they only obtained some vague information.

Although they very much wanted to take down the Island Nation, it was clear that given the nature of those fanatics…

If they were pushed to desperation, they would either destroy all their research results and data, or they would reveal them to all the countries in the world!

There was no doubt about this.

The Godzilla Cult’s madness was deeply ingrained!

Therefore, they could only continuously pressure the Island Nation, target it from various aspects, and at the same time, continuously send spies to infiltrate the Godzilla Cult.

And now, finally, one of their people had risen to a high position, gaining the authority to learn about those human experiments!

At this moment, an unknown number of people wept with joy.

And the most excited, of course, was that spy.

As one of the first spies to infiltrate the Godzilla Cult.

Three years and another three years, it had been almost ten years.

His mission was finally coming to an end!

How could he not be excited!?

“It’s normal to be excited when you’re about to face the Divine Grace. I was even more disheveled than you back then.”

In the dim underground passage, only a light bulb at the top of the passage provided a faint light source.

And in the passage, the spy, or rather, Cliff, felt his heart beat a little faster.

And even this slight change was caught by the person in front of him.

After all, even with his professional agent training, it was impossible for him to show no change at this moment.

But thankfully, the person in front of him did not suspect anything.

After all, who would have thought that a person who joined the Godzilla Cult at its inception and worked diligently, making significant contributions, would be a spy?

Cliff looked at the person in front of him.

That person was wearing a pitch-black cloak, hiding his entire body beneath it.

And he had already seen this person’s face when he arrived.

How to describe it? Upon first glance, his smiling face gave Cliff a chilling sensation.

That smile was so fake it couldn’t be any faker!

But Cliff looked left and right, yet he couldn’t see any trace of disguise on his face.

No matter how superb the makeup skills, no matter how powerful the human skin mask, they couldn’t create such a natural face.

Yet it was this “natural” face that was the true culprit bringing Cliff a chilling sensation.

On a face that didn’t seem like a mask, there was a strange smile that hadn’t changed in the slightest since they first met.

If he hadn’t undergone professional training, Cliff felt he might have already been unable to resist fleeing.

Humanity’s oldest fear stems from the unknown.

And now, everything told him that…

If he continued to walk forward, although he would learn the true secrets of the Godzilla Cult…

But it was also very likely that some unknown and terrifying changes would occur to him.

The person leading the way in front of him was the best proof.

He knew that person, Aikawa; he only knew his surname, and his given name, even the Cult Leader didn’t know.

And Aikawa’s position in the cult was very high; everyone knew that if nothing unexpected happened, he would be the next leader of the Godzilla Cult.

And for such a figure to personally lead the way for him made him feel “overwhelmed by favor.”

This also proved the Godzilla Cult’s emphasis on their achievements.

If nothing unexpected happened, he was brought here this time for surgery to fuse G-cells.

He had already known this all along.

If it weren’t for repeated confirmation that everyone who underwent G-cell fusion surgery did not lose their sanity, he would have left the Godzilla Cult long ago.

His mission.

Could it be more important than his own life?

Not long after, they arrived at the end of the passage.

Looking at the door ahead, Cliff knew he had no retreat.

In deciding to come here, or even earlier, when he joined the Godzilla Cult, there was already no turning back.
