Chapter 50: Transformation

Cliff, tied to the operating table, looked around uneasily, his eyeballs darting non-stop.

The operating room wasn't very large, just an operating table and a few cabinets not far away.

If a few more people were to enter the operating room, it would feel very crowded.

"Do you know, we discovered a long time ago that you were a spy working for M."

Aikawa's face, with its forced smile, showed no other expression besides "smiling."

And his hollow eyes made Cliff's heart skip a beat.

"You—what are you talking about? I don't understand."

Cliff still wanted to argue.

"You don't have to deny it."

Aikawa looked down at Cliff, who was tied to the operating table, and shook his head.

"Even if you are a spy, what of it? After receiving the 'Divine Grace,' you are one of our 'brethren,' and this has nothing to do with your consciousness. The power of God connects us all!"

Aikawa walked out of the operating room, leaving Cliff to fall into unknown fear.

Aikawa's words made him extremely uneasy.

He knew that G-cells must possess a power he was unaware of.

Damn it, those people must know these things, but they just wouldn't tell him.

It was all so he would learn the true secrets of the Godzilla Cult and then tell them!

In that instant, Cliff felt betrayed.

Those people didn't care about his life or death at all; to them, he was just a tool.

Only the difference between useful and not useful!

If he could get out alive this time and tell the higher-ups everything he had seen, then he would be a useful tool and live longer.

But if he couldn't satisfy the higher-ups, he would definitely be eliminated!

In that instant, he thought of many things.

The spy mission, he just wanted to live now!

But the question was, what the hell was that G-cells surgery!?

Could it really turn a person into half-human, half-ghost?

As Cliff waited anxiously, a group of people, completely wrapped up, walked in.

Judging by their attire, these people looked like both doctors and researchers.

And each of them was carrying a tray; due to the angle, he couldn't clearly see what was on the trays.

And this, in turn, only increased his fear.

"Don't worry, we've performed this surgery more than once, and for high-ranking members of the cult like you, the surgeries are specially handled, with a very high success rate."

A person in a white coat looked down at Cliff, who was tied to the operating table and utterly helpless, and said.

"Let's begin."

No excessive communication was needed; they were already very familiar with the surgery, and this time they just needed to follow the procedure.

Therefore, compared to Cliff, whose heart was pounding with tension, they were much calmer.

"The subject is too nervous, inject a sedative first."

"Wait—"

Just as Cliff was about to speak, one injection made him groggy, and in a daze, he saw those in white coats injecting many things into his body— "G-cells have been injected—"

"Rejection reaction detected, inject neutralizing agent."

"Increase the dosage!"

On the other side, Aikawa, with his sickening smile, stood in front of a one-way glass, watching Cliff undergoing surgery.

At this moment, if Cliff were conscious, he would surely be scared out of his wits by his own appearance!

Because at this point, there was no intact skin left on his body, revealing the bloody muscular tissue beneath!

His skin, immediately after the G-cells injection, ruptured, and in some places, his skin even began to rot.

These people in white coats were not surprised by this, as if they had seen it more than once, calmly excising the rotting skin.

"The first stage of transformation is complete, the rejection reaction has disappeared. Now, proceed with the second stage of surgery!"

Although all the skin on his body had disappeared, Cliff's vital signs were very healthy, or rather, "robust"!

And this was all thanks to G-cells.

After countless experiments over several years, they finally mastered the technology of human transformation using G-cells.

And Cliff was undoubtedly a very lucky person, because the risk of the current surgery had been reduced to the absolute minimum.

Coupled with the specially modified G-cells, it would be difficult for Cliff to die.

But as for what he would become after the surgery, that depended on what changes would occur in Cliff's body; no one could guarantee it.

As the second stage of the surgery began, tumors grew one after another not only on his skin but also in Cliff's muscle tissues and various internal organs.

And those in white coats continuously injected Cliff with various agents and excised all these tissues.

During this process, Cliff's appearance became more and more "inhuman."

Cliff probably never dreamed of what he would eventually become.

When Cliff opened his eyes again, what he saw was blinding light.

He subconsciously wanted to cover the light with his hand.

But the next second, he saw his hand, which seemed a little off.

Compared to a "hand," Cliff felt it was more like a claw!

Cliff abruptly sat up and examined his body.

"This—this—how is this possible?"

He had become a monster?

"Congratulations, you have officially become one of us. Be glad, you will witness history!"

Just then, a voice Cliff was very familiar with sounded in his ear.

"Aikawa—"

"That's right, it's me."

Cliff turned his head and saw that same sickening smiling face.

"What will I become?"

Cliff asked, his eyes vacant.

"You are still you, just with a tiny bit of a change in appearance."

Aikawa gestured with his hands, which were as white as porcelain.

"Hehe~ Becoming like this, and you still dare to say it's just a tiny bit of a change?"

Cliff sneered.

"Compared to them, we are indeed just a tiny change."

Aikawa's voice rose slightly, then he moved aside, allowing Cliff to see the people he had been blocking.

No, those should no longer be called "people."

Instead, they were one twisted product after another, transformed by mad scientists, without the slightest human appearance.

But the clothes they wore told him that those people were once human!

Cliff should have felt fear, but somehow, he reacted very indifferently to these beings, as if they were nothing special.

"They are?"

"Just a group of failures, no need to pay too much attention."

"When did you know I was a spy?"

Cliff asked the question he had always wanted to ask.

"A long time ago—"
