Chapter 68: A Big Pocket
With the Hunter's frog-like explosive speed, it can quickly approach humans in confined spaces and then use its sharp claws to injure or kill them.
And because it is a product of the t-virus, the Hunter's claws carry the t-virus, so a mere scratch will infect the t-virus, and without a vaccine, there is only death.
Although the Hunter's skin cannot compare to a Tyrant's in terms of defense, small-caliber pistols would have difficulty killing it unless the same spot was continuously attacked.
This bio-weapon can withstand the first wave of firepower, quickly approach the enemy, and then kill it.
Even if it doesn't kill the enemy, just causing a trivial wound can bring more trouble to the enemy.
In the early days, it was very popular with various organizations and was one of the best-selling bio-weapons of the Umbrella Corporation.
Even now, the Hunter has not been eliminated.
But just as the Umbrella Corporation released the Hunters and Tyrants, preparing to control them to capture those mutated Individuals.
Those Hunters and Tyrants actually fought among themselves!
Whether it's a Tyrant or a Hunter, they are not zombies without any reason; instead, they possess basic intelligence.
Although very low, it gives them their own faint consciousness.
And before this, the Umbrella Corporation had never deployed Hunters and Tyrants together.
Because no target was worth the Umbrella Corporation deploying both of these bio-weapons.
Only now did they realize that the Hunters and Tyrants actually disliked each other!
Except for some helicopters that hadn't yet started releasing Hunters and Tyrants, and Tyrants that hadn't encountered Hunters, the rest all broke out into infighting.
The result was that the Tyrants wiped out all the Hunters!
This time, the Umbrella Corporation attached great importance to those mutated Individuals.
For each Individual, they sent three Tyrants and ten Hunters.
This resulted in the loss of at least thirty Hunters.
This was still because the Umbrella Corporation discovered it quickly; otherwise, even more Hunters would have been lost.
Having come this far, the Umbrella Corporation naturally would not abandon the mission.
They directly changed their approach: first, they released the Hunters to serve as cannon fodder, exhausting the stamina of those mutated Individuals, and once all the Hunters were dead, they would then release the Tyrants.
After the plan was finalized, all locations, except for the bases where infighting occurred, continued to carry out the mission.
As one of the targeted Individuals, Hank naturally also encountered a siege by Hunters.
Since the base fell, Hank had never returned to it, instead venturing deeper into the mountains.
Because all the animals in the outer areas had been killed by him.
Perhaps because he had enough food, Hank's mutation became even more severe.
In just a few days, Hank's entire body was covered in scales, and even his teeth fell out once, only to grow back like serrated blades.
These teeth were extremely sharp, capable of easily biting through bone.
Because of this, after his teeth changed, Hank began to bite bones into pieces and swallow them.
Additionally, Hank felt as if he had grown taller; the evidence was that the large axe, which was originally a head taller than him, was now the same height as him.
Also, recently, he felt an itch on his back, as if something was about to grow out.
These past few days, the changes in Hank's body had never stopped.
To this, Hank felt a sense of unsurprised acceptance.
As early as when he discovered scales growing on his arm, he had already mentally prepared himself; it was just that it had now become a Reality.
Hank didn't find this unacceptable.
Although he had turned into a monster, he had not lost his sanity, nor had he become a zombie, and that was enough.
The only thing that made him feel somewhat regretful was probably that he couldn't have sex anymore.
Just as Hank finished eating the food from his last hunt and was preparing to leave his makeshift wooden cabin to go hunting, he keenly heard the whirring sound of a helicopter.
Hank frowned, feeling that things were not simple.
The helicopter appeared at neither an early nor late time, but precisely after he had turned into a monster, and in these deep mountains and old forests; how could this not make him overthink?
There was no need to ask; he knew it must be the government, having discovered his changes, sending the army to capture him.
Hmph! They didn't send an army to save them earlier, but as soon as they discovered a special Individual like him, a helicopter arrived.
Hank picked up his large axe and ran into the dense forest without looking back.
His primitive life these past few days had made Hank somewhat familiar with his surroundings.
But this time, Hank ran towards the denser parts of the forest, into a primeval jungle that humans had never set foot in.
Only by using the dense jungle could he escape the helicopter's lock-on from above.
Hank's choice was not wrong, but what he didn't know was that…
Not long after Hank left the small wooden cabin he had built, a group of frog-like monsters arrived at his cabin and, using the lingering scent inside, began to track Hank.
Hank was very fast; after running for an entire day, Hank finally stopped.
Looking at the moonlight filtering through the gaps in the leaves, Hank finally breathed a sigh of relief.
During the day, he had changed directions several times, and even he didn't know where he was now; those people couldn't possibly catch up to him.
Running for a day, coupled with the fatigue from constant mental tension, made Hank feel a wave of drowsiness once he relaxed.
Hank did not climb a tree to rest.
In this jungle, no Creature could threaten him, so he simply rested under a tree, clutching his large axe.
Midnight.
Hank suddenly opened his eyes.
Something was approaching.
And, it had already surrounded him without him realizing it!
Although Hank didn't sense any threat from these Creatures, a faint, ominous premonition surged in Hank's heart.
This time, having been discovered, he might not be able to escape so easily.
Hank didn't wait in place; instead, he grabbed his large axe and chose a random direction to charge.
He would take the initiative!
After Hank moved, the Creatures surrounding Hank also caused a commotion, and it took a few seconds for them to quiet down.
After running a few steps, Hank saw a Hunter hidden in the dense leaves of a large tree.
"Hiss~"
Upon realizing it had been discovered, the Hunter hissed, its hind leg muscles bulging, and with a whoosh, its speed was so fast that Hank only felt a blur before his eyes, and the Hunter had leaped in front of him.
Crack~
The Hunter, having leaped in front of Hank, swiped a claw at Hank, hitting him squarely in the face.
Then, an awkward thing happened: although Hank's head was slightly tilted by the slap, the Hunter's claw broke against the hard scales on Hank's face.
Hank: "—"
Hunter: "—"
