Chapter 90: Did I Disable Myself?
Regarding Klisa's behavior.
Xu Xi did not understand the meaning behind it.
He did not quite understand why the usually emotionally detached Klisa had specifically adjusted the positions of the sugar jar and the magic wand; was it simply because she didn't like how they looked?
Xu Xi didn't dwell on it too much; he just swapped their order, but the sugar jar remained.
He believed that even if Mo Li were here, she wouldn't say anything about it.
"Let's go, Klisa, it's time to prepare dinner."
"Yes, Mentor."
The autumn sun was setting noticeably faster.
The sky outside was dark and heavy, scattered with the orange glow of the sunset—the sun's final rays, gentle and slow, brushing across the ground like a paintbrush.
Just right.
Passing through the kitchen's tall, vertical window, the light illuminated the witch's detached face.
The golden setting sun did not wash away the snow-white skin; instead, it highlighted its details, so clearly that every tiny bit of fuzz was visible.
"Mentor, please let me do it."
"No, Klisa, I'll do it."
Xu Xi felt that reuniting with Klisa in reality was a cause for celebration, and he intended to cook personally.
But the witch seemed to share the same thought.
In the end, the dinner was prepared through their joint efforts.
Charcoal-grilled Spirit Chicken, stewed Dragon beast meat, Ginseng and Vermilion Fruit soup, and stir-fried necromantic mushroom.
The wide, flat dining table was spread with steaming, extraordinary dishes, and amidst the swirling steam, the chill of autumn was largely driven away.
"Click—" Xu Xi turned on the bright overhead light.
After cooking, the sun's light had faded further, and the moon began to hang high in the sky; only by turning on the lights could the house remain bright.
"I didn't expect that I would be able to reunite with Klisa in the real world; this feeling seems…" Xu Xi pulled out a dining chair and sat down.
He looked at the witch sitting directly opposite him, who met his gaze with hollow eyes.
Involuntarily, the corners of Xu Xi's mouth curled up slightly: "It's quite nice."
The return of the gray-haired witch brought a touch of the liveliness and warmth called home to this empty new Courtyard, even though the witch was not the cheerful or lively type.
"Let's eat, Klisa."
"Yes, Mentor."
Xu Xi began to eat first, and only then did Klisa pick up her bowl and chopsticks to pick up some food as well.
When did the witch learn to use chopsticks?
Xu Xi remembered that before the end of the second simulation, chopsticks were still the witch's lifelong nemesis.
That is to say, did the witch learn it on her own during the time after he died?
The ruthless passage of time eventually forces people to grow and learn things they couldn't do before.
"Klisa," Xu Xi suddenly spoke up, picking up a piece of tender, stewed meat and placing it into the witch's bowl.
"What is it, Mentor?" Klisa asked, looking slightly confused.
"It's nothing, I just wanted you to eat more," Xu Xi said in a gentle tone, watching the eternal witch open her small mouth to slowly bite into the stewed meat and chew.
The dinner was very plain, without any so-called surprises.
But in the soft clinking of bowls and chopsticks, there echoed an indescribable clarity.
That was the only thing the witch had yearned for day and night, strived for, and shed tears for.
"It's so good…"
Halfway through the meal, Klisa suddenly said these words. Her voice was very soft, but with Xu Xi's current hearing, he captured it clearly.
"What's so good?"
"Being able to see you again, it's truly so good…"
Hearing Klisa's reply, Xu Xi smiled.
"Come to think of it, Klisa, have you thought about what you want to do after coming to this world?"
"Accompany you."
A familiar answer, once again conveyed to Xu Xi from the witch's lips.
"Accompany you tomorrow, accompany you the day after, accompany you next year, and the next decade will be the same."
A few strands of gray-silver hair fell from Klisa's forehead, wispy and thin.
A small amount, not much, but it happened to cover the shifting fluctuations in those brilliant eyes, making it impossible for Xu Xi to see clearly what was hidden deep within them.
He could only vaguely discern his own reflection.
"Is that so…" Hearing Klisa's flat voice and feeling that simple, clumsy statement again, Xu Xi was stunned for a moment, his expression becoming gentle yet helpless.
"That is indeed something you would say, Klisa."
"I understand. Since this is your choice, I will not stop you."
The witch had already become a god. Xu Xi himself was a Sanctuary Archmage.
As long as the witch was willing, she could stay in the Courtyard for as long as she wanted; so-called finances, so-called food and housing, were not issues for either of them.
Dinner ended. Just like in the Magic World.
Klisa conscientiously cleaned up the bowls and chopsticks. Although for her now, this was something she could solve with a single thought, she still chose to manipulate magic to wash them clean, bit by bit.
In her words, this was a sense of ritual for serving her master.
Looking at Klisa like this. Looking at the busy Klisa who seemed to have rediscovered the meaning of her existence, shining and radiating heat in her own unique way.
Xu Xi felt that life in the real world seemed to have become interesting, no longer dull.
"It's just a pity…" Xu Xi murmured, "The one appearing here is not Klisa's true form, but one of her thoughts, a projection."
To the Supreme witch, even a wisp of thought, when projected, had the same effect as a real living being.
But people are just like that. Once they know it's fake, they involuntarily want to touch the real thing.
"You need not worry," the witch said, having heard Xu Xi's words. She walked over with a cup of post-meal hot tea, placed it on the table, and said this.
"I will accelerate the ascension of this world until it can withstand the arrival of my true form."
Xu Xi subconsciously let out an "Oh": "You're quite capable, Klisa."
He took a sip of the hot tea. But immediately after, Xu Xi coughed it out violently.
"Cough, cough! Cough!" Xu Xi pounded his chest with his fist, looked up with an expression of disbelief at the 17-year-old witch standing obediently: "Klisa, what did you just say?"
Xu Xi felt that he had heard something extraordinary.
Klisa: "Accelerate the ascension of this world."
So he hadn't misheard? Xu Xi's expression became one of shock and uncertainty.
He had thought that the girl overturning the Chaos gods was already shocking enough, but now it seemed that Earth's Spiritual Qi recovery was also related to Klisa?
Klisa came to Earth because he was on Earth.
Klisa was causing Earth's ascension so that her true form could come to see him.
Rounding it all up… Xu Xi's eyes widened. The cause of Earth's Spiritual Qi recovery, the thing that broke his legs back then, was actually himself???
"Did I disable myself?" "There's such a thing?!"
Facing the shocked and gasping Xu Xi, the witch shook her head slightly.
The witch claimed that before she began the ascension for Earth, the phenomenon of supernatural recovery had already appeared on Earth; she did not intend to take the blame for crippling her mentor.
