Chapter 91: Experimental Materials
The road, which was nearly ten meters wide and stretched downwards, was covered in dust.
If this place hadn't been abandoned, there wouldn't be so much dust on this winding road leading down.
Thump, thump, thump~
Three sets of footsteps echoed in the vast, deep pit, making all three of them feel a flutter of panic in their hearts.
It was simply too deep, dark, and secluded here.
Hank and Colette could still see in such dim light, so their situation was better.
However, Alice couldn't see anything beyond what her flashlight illuminated, which put immense psychological pressure on her.
If she wasn't extraordinary and hadn't seen so much over the years, anyone else would have likely collapsed by now.
The three walked for an unknown period of time before finally seeing something different: human structures!
Through the patterns on the dilapidated building walls, they knew this was a base of Umbrella!
At this moment, they felt like crying.
Heaven knew how long they had walked in that deep pit; they had finally reached the bottom!
“It looks like this place was attacked by some Creature, just like those other bases,” Alice said, looking at the places throughout the base that had been torn by tentacles.
“Hmm,” Hank said noncommittally.
However, he knew that this trip might be in vain.
If Alice was right, this base was the most important base of Umbrella Corporation.
If this base was attacked and fell, then the other bases might also be gone.
Thinking of this, Hank suddenly felt it was meaningless.
He had thought Umbrella Corporation was so powerful, but how long had it been? The culprit behind the apocalypse was gone just like that?
Meanwhile, Alice stood beneath a huge裂口, looking up at the裂口 cut by the “blade” above, lost in thought.
What kind of Creature attack had Umbrella Corporation encountered to cause this level of destruction?
Were these truly the Resident Evil Creatures developed by Umbrella Corporation?
Alice fell into doubt.
Regardless, they decided to explore the entire base first; perhaps they could find valuable data?
After a round of searching, they didn't find any valuable data, but instead encountered some living Resident Evil weapons.
After dealing with the last active Creatures in the base, only corpses remained in the entire base besides Hank and his companions.
No, there were also those humans in hibernation!
“Who are these people?” Colette asked, looking at the jars around them.
“I don't know.”
“They might be important people from Umbrella Corporation.”
“They are all wealthy individuals who purchased tickets to the ‘New World’.”
Just as Hank and Alice were also confused about who these people were, a voice very familiar to Alice rang out.
“Red Queen!”
Then, the image of a cute little girl was projected.
“What did you mean by ‘tickets to the New World’?” Alice asked Red Queen.
“Let me explain instead.”
At this moment, another projection appeared next to Red Queen.
However, unlike the charmingly standing Red Queen, this was a gentleman sitting on a sofa, holding a wine glass.
“Before the outbreak of Resident Evil, they had already fallen into slumber here, awaiting the arrival of the ‘New World’.”
The gentleman scanned Hank and the others, finally fixing his gaze on Colette, which made Colette frown.
She didn't like the man's gaze.
Hank was already looking around, trying to find what was projecting the figures, intending to destroy them.
The gentleman didn't wait for Hank and the others to respond, but continued to speak to himself. “The so-called ‘New World’ is a brand new world that emerges after the Resident Evil outbreak, after all viruses disappear, with no zombies and infinite resources.”
“Wait, are you saying—”
Alice's eyes widened; she suddenly thought of something.
“Exactly, the appearance of Resident Evil was not accidental, but inevitable!”
“You lunatics!”
An enraged Alice emptied her clip at the projection, but it was just a projection; besides venting her anger, she couldn't harm anyone.
“Let’s go, we’ll find some explosives and blow this place up.”
Hank searched around but couldn't find what was projecting the two figures, so he eventually gave up.
However, he had no intention of letting the people in these jars off; they were all damned people anyway.
The gentleman sitting on the sofa watched Hank and his companions turn and leave, without saying anything to stop them.
In fact, no matter what Hank and his companions did here, he couldn't stop them.
The defensive capabilities within this base had long been completely dismantled, and even the last remaining zombies had been cleared out; he couldn't even kill these people if he wanted to.
The reason he appeared was purely because the production of the t-virus serum had been too slow recently, leading to vexation, and coincidentally Hank and his companions had entered this base.
He couldn't help but come to enjoy the exasperated expressions of Alice and Hank, could he?
And the result proved that he felt much better now.
Red Queen, beside him, gave him a strange look.
She had actually realized that if he hadn't gone to such unnecessary lengths, Alice and Hank would have thought Umbrella Corporation was already gone.
But now, after his antics, these two ancestors would undoubtedly search the world for Umbrella bases, vowing not to rest until Umbrella Corporation was completely annihilated.
But Red Queen wouldn't remind this guy.
In fact, she was quite happy for this guy to court death.
Neither Hank nor Alice had explosives on hand.
Hank and his companion relied on their own strength more than explosives.
Although Alice had collected some explosives, she used them up very quickly.
Now, her car only had a few kilograms of explosives left.
With such a small amount of explosives, it was clearly unrealistic to blow up the entire base.
So, they decided to first go to another City to find enough explosives, and then return to blow up this base.
However, finding explosives in a City was not a simple matter.
Fortunately, Alice could make her own explosives!
However, it took a month to go back and forth and gather enough explosives.
Thankfully, the base showed no activity, and the people in hibernation showed no signs of waking up.
It seemed that the people from Umbrella Corporation had abandoned these individuals.
Or rather, they had never cared about these people from the beginning.
Their initial agreement to hibernation was merely to get their money to get through the early stages.
And now, even if Alice and her companions didn't act, the people from Umbrella Corporation would kill them.
The only difference was that the people from Umbrella Corporation might make full use of them, treating these individuals as experimental subjects.
