Earth’s Defense War

As the Superheroes, mutants, Guardians of the Galaxy, and nations of Earth discussed the coming crisis, the Solar System received unwelcome visitors.

The fleet led by Cull Obsidian arrived. Hundreds of warships carried over a million cosmic warriors, each of whom was no weaker than a Frost Giant—Asgard’s former enemies, Loki’s race. The Frost Giants had once brought terrifying disasters to the Nine Realms, but their numbers were scarce, barely reaching over a hundred thousand in total. They were utterly incomparable to the Dark Order before them. Moreover, Cull Obsidian was far stronger than the Frost Giant King.

When the dark fleet descended upon the Solar System, every nation on Earth was shocked.

"Such an enormous fleet is truly terrifying. Can we stop them?" Some of Earth’s leaders began to tremble.

"Yeah, there are too many of them. Earth’s technology simply can’t compare!"

"Then what do we do? Wait to die?"

"No, we still have the Superheroes! The Avengers will stop these alien enemies."

"But there are too many enemies! With that many warships, how can they possibly be stopped?!"

Just as the whole world fell into panic, the Avengers handed over technology from the galaxy to every nation on Earth: the Planetary Defense System!

This was a planetary shield Star-Lord had brought from the galaxy. When he learned that the Dark Order was heading for Earth, he had thought of many solutions. In the end, he could only use certain means to purchase this defense system. Its function was actually limited: it could only defend against the warships’ long-range energy attacks. It could not stop warships from landing on Earth, could not deal with the million cosmic warriors, and could do even less against the powerful Cull Obsidian.

"But this is enough. As long as it can withstand the countless long-range bombardments from the Space Battleships, the million cosmic warriors will be handled by the nations of Earth and us!" Captain America stood aboard the airborne carrier and looked at everyone present. Star-Lord was among them, along with Magneto Erik, Professor X Charles, Wolverine, Cyclops, and others.

"Although those cosmic warriors are numerous, most of them are ordinary in strength. However, they possess alien technological weapons, so in terms of overall combat power, they are far stronger than Earth’s armies. There are also the commanders under Cull Obsidian, the squad captains leading those cosmic warriors. None of them are weak. We must fight with everything we have." Star-Lord knew more about the Dark Order and spoke at that moment.

"Can this so-called Planetary Defense System really work?" someone asked doubtfully. Having never seen this kind of interstellar warfare defense device, they could not help doubting whether it could withstand the bombardment of hundreds of warships.

"The Planetary Defense System is not omnipotent. It can only defend against energy attacks. The enemy will definitely choose to fly their ships into Earth and deploy massive numbers of shipborne troops to sweep the planet. That is when we need to act. If we fail to stop them, humanity on Earth will be destroyed, and the entire civilization of Earth will be wiped out."

"So the burden on your shoulders is heavy!" Nick Fury looked at the Superheroes before him, as well as the Brotherhood of Mutants and the X-Men, who had cast aside their past grudges and united. With a great enemy at their doorstep, even the deepest hatred between them could be set aside. Before the catastrophe facing humanity on Earth, none of that mattered.

"Don’t worry. Leave those so-called cosmic warriors to us!" Spider-Man said.

"Ordinary cosmic warriors will be dealt with by the soldiers of Earth’s nations. What you need to face are the strong ones among them. The battlefield changes in an instant, and you must make your own judgments." Nick Fury continued.

Nick and Captain America discussed several more important matters with everyone before they dispersed and began preparing for battle.

Outside Earth, vast numbers of spacecraft had already crossed the Moon’s orbital path and were drawing ever closer to Earth.

Red lights lit up aboard the spacecraft at the front. Energy cannons began charging one after another. Finally, hundreds of energy blasts thundered toward the distant blue planet—Earth.

At the joint command headquarters of Earth’s nations, every senior official watched the red beams in space with grave expressions. They were energy cannon fire.

"They really attacked."

"For the Dark Order, destroying planets and civilizations is perfectly normal!"

"Didn’t that Quill say they wanted to search Earth for Infinity Stones? Aren’t they afraid of destroying the Stones with an attack like this?"

"Even if Earth explodes, the Infinity Stones won’t be destroyed!"

"Hurry and give the order! Activate that Planetary Defense System!"

"It was activated immediately!"

Viewed from outer space, a white shield suddenly appeared around Earth’s surface. The red energy blasts were intercepted by the white barrier the moment they reached Earth’s orbit. The white shield trembled and ripples spread across it, yet it forcibly blocked every energy blast.

"It stopped them! It stopped them!"

"Yes, that Quill really wasn’t lying. It can actually block the enemy’s energy cannon attacks. Earth is saved now."

"Unfortunately, this thing can’t stop their ships from landing. It would be great if it could keep all the enemies out."

"Send the order. The united armies of Earth are to prepare for battle."

As Earth’s united forces prepared for war, the Dark Order fleet in outer space seemingly had not expected Earth to possess such a shield. After a brief pause, every warship ceased its meaningless attacks. With an entire planet supporting it, this kind of shield could certainly withstand attacks for a long time. Rather than continue, they might as well send troops directly to attack Earth.

Inside a Dark Order flagship, in a command hall, a fat and bizarre-looking alien sat in the seat of honor. He was vastly different from humans of Earth. Four sharp fangs protruded from his huge mouth, his skin was dark red, and his appearance was exceedingly ferocious.

"Damn it, these Earthlings actually have a planetary shield. Advance at full speed and begin landing operations directly," Cull Obsidian said in a deep voice.

"Yes, Lord Cull Obsidian!" A row of captain-level figures stood below him, each with a strange and unusual appearance. Upon hearing Cull Obsidian’s order, they all accepted their commands and departed.

Earth, the Infinity Stones… I will definitely complete Father’s mission! The other three won’t get the chance to come here. Cull Obsidian looked at the watery blue planet on the Holographic Screen. According to Thanos’s calculations, Earth possessed quite a few Infinity Stones. If he could help Thanos collect them, he would have rendered a great service.

As for the Dark Order, there were actually five commanders: Ebony Maw, Proxima Midnight, Corvus Glaive, Cull Obsidian, and the last was Supergiant. However, only the first four appeared in the movie’s post-credits scene, while Marvel comics had five. Since what I am writing is the movie version of Marvel and connects with the not-yet-released Avengers 3: Infinity War, I mainly relied on my own research. The official film has not been released yet, so please do not mind any differences!
