Fantasy and Reality

Meanwhile, elsewhere.

A space fighter landed on the landing pad of the Celebrity Hotel on Xandar.

The arrival of this space fighter drew the attention of some people at the Celebrity Hotel.

Depending on the model, a space fighter could cost anywhere from tens of millions to hundreds of millions, equipped with all kinds of advanced technology and immense firepower.

Anyone capable of piloting a fighter worth fifty million was either a billionaire or a powerful expert.

Thus, upon hearing the news, some people headed to the landing pad’s observation windows to see who had arrived.

However, when they saw Sonia step out of the space fighter in a pure white dress and a sun hat, looking as though she were glowing all over, their eyes widened.

News of Sonia becoming a proxy signatory had long spread throughout the Celebrity Hotel.

Generally, those who had served as proxy signatories for wealthy clients would return to the Celebrity Hotel for a visit, staying at least ten days to half a month, if not longer.

Sonia had contacted them once before, saying she was doing well, but she had never returned to the Celebrity Hotel.

Although rumors said Sonia was quite free, no one had actually seen her return to stay at the Celebrity Hotel for any length of time.

So, they did not believe Sonia’s words were true.

After all, men were not the only ones who cared about appearances. Competition among women was also commonplace, and no one wanted former colleagues or friends to know they were doing poorly.

There were even plenty of people who put on a brave face for the sake of pride.

Yet they had not expected Sonia to return after nearly two years, and to do so while piloting a fifty-million space fighter.

Moreover, Sonia’s skin and appearance were far more beautiful than before, leaving them with mixed feelings.

"Are the benefits of being a proxy signatory really that good?"

"Even I want to become a proxy signatory after seeing this."

"Some proxy signatories live comfortably, but far more of them fail. It’s better not to do it, right?"

Some young and beautiful villa managers at the Celebrity Hotel watched Sonia’s arrival, beginning to wonder whether their information had been right or wrong.

Sonia walked into the Celebrity Hotel lobby step by step.

"Lalatina, I’m looking for Sarah. Is she free right now?"

Sonia came to the front desk and asked with a smile.

When she thought about recommending someone, the first person who naturally came to mind was Sarah, the junior she had trained.

Although Sarah was not as serious as she was, Sonia’s strictness during the early days had cultivated in her the habit of learning whenever she did not understand something.

"Sonia-senpai, long time no see."

"As for Sarah-senpai, she’s sleeping right now."

After recognizing Sonia, the woman at the front desk checked Sarah’s status and saw that it was marked as sleeping.

The villa managers at the Celebrity Hotel had irregular sleep schedules, so even though it was only early afternoon, many of them were asleep.

"Does she have any assigned guests at the moment?"

Sonia understood this as well, so she asked.

"No. Miss Sarah only finished caring for her guest yesterday afternoon."

"So after tidying up the room, Miss Sarah has been catching up on sleep today."

Upon hearing this, Lalatina checked the records and replied.

"Then assign her to me. One month will do."

After hearing that Sarah had no assigned guest, Sonia spoke.

Of course, she was not assigning Sarah to herself because she wanted to stay at the Celebrity Hotel and enjoy herself, even if she had plenty of money.

She did not have that much time to stay outside. There were still many matters on Void Island that required her attention.

The main reason she assigned Sarah was to have a chat with her and assess her along the way, to see whether Sarah truly met the requirements Mr. Kassadin had mentioned.

"Alright."

Upon hearing Sonia-senpai’s words, Lalatina knew that Sonia-senpai wanted to look after Sarah-senpai.

"Tell Sarah to come see me."

Sonia did not waste words. After paying, she learned that the room was Room 9999, so she went straight upstairs rather than making Sarah wait for her.

"Did Sonia really strike it rich?"

"Could she be pretending?"

"To rent that kind of space fighter, you have to pay a five-million deposit and another five hundred thousand every day. Pretending isn’t that easy."

"If she rents it for a month, that’ll cost twenty million. That’s enough to directly buy a less expensive space fighter."

The other women in the lobby watched Sonia head upstairs and began discussing it one after another.

"Seeing her like this, I almost want to accept the request from the person who asked me to be a proxy signatory."

"I’m tempted too. If I take a gamble and succeed, I could skip an entire lifetime of struggling."

They only earned three hundred to four hundred thousand a year working here, and even with year-end bonuses, it was less than five hundred thousand.

Though they did not have to serve in bed, they still had to smile and cater to people almost every day, being ordered around at will.

There were also many rules at work. They could make money, but it was certainly not easy.

"I advise you to abandon that idea."

"For all these years, so many people have wanted to invite Miss Sonia to become a proxy signatory and keep her."

"In the end, Sonia-senpai chose to become Mr. Kassadin’s proxy signatory not only because she had good judgment."

"More importantly, Sonia-senpai was fortunate enough to meet someone as important as Mr. Kassadin."

Seeing their envy and jealousy, Lalatina, though envious herself, spoke very realistically.

What woman did not want to soar to the top in one leap, never worrying about food or drink again, free to do whatever she wanted, travel to every planet, and buy whatever she desired?

But such opportunities were not easy to encounter. Most proxy signatories enjoyed themselves for a year or two, then spent the rest of their lives either repaying debts or sitting in prison.

Mr. Kassadin was not only wealthy, but also possessed overwhelming strength and prestige. That was why Sonia-senpai could live so comfortably.

As long as she did not commit some unforgivable crime that enraged the heavens and provoked public condemnation, even Nova Corps officers would turn a blind eye.

But if it were some other billionaire business tycoon, then no matter how rich they were, without sufficient hard power, they simply could not contend with the authorities.

As long as they committed illegal acts, Nova Corps officers had plenty of ways to make those billionaires’ assets suffer.

Even if all their assets were not confiscated, the business tycoons would still lose half their wealth, while the proxy signatory who took the blame would naturally bear responsibility for the crimes.

That was also why some of the Celebrity Hotel’s seniors had ended up so poorly afterward.

Moreover, after enjoying immense wealth and luxury, asking them to go from extravagance back to frugality was difficult. Even though their original jobs did not pay badly, they would still look down on them.

They would choose shady paths or illegal activities, which was why some former Celebrity Hotel proxy signatories lived increasingly miserable lives in their later years.

Fantasy was beautiful, but reality was harsh. How could there be so many success stories?

The third update was delivered.
