Heat Vision, Freeze Breath Awakened
Squeak~
A police car slowly pulled up in front of a high-end apartment building in Queens.
Captain George, finished with everything for the night, stepped out of the car, shut the door, and quickly walked to the entrance.
"Whew…"
Though he could hardly wait, he paused at the door. Only after taking a deep breath did he gently open the door and change into slippers.
He then deliberately softened his footsteps and slowly headed toward his bedroom.
However, as he passed through the hallway and went by his daughter’s bedroom door, his steps involuntarily came to a halt.
"It seems I haven’t cared about Gwen in a long time."
Tonight’s experience had made George realize many things.
When the helicopter had fallen and death had drawn infinitely close,
he had not felt much fear toward death. As a police officer, he had long accepted that he might die in the line of duty one day.
But when death had truly arrived, what rose in his heart was overwhelming reluctance to leave behind his daughter and wife.
He was afraid—afraid that he would never see them again.
As if he had gathered his courage, George stepped up to his daughter’s door and slowly raised his hand.
But in the end, he still did not knock. He lowered it.
"That Spider-Woman seemed to be about Gwen’s age, didn’t she?"
Leaving Gwen’s bedroom door behind and heading toward his own room, George suddenly thought of the Spider-Woman from today, who had risked both her life and exposure to save him.
Earlier, just before he had been about to remove her mask, it was precisely because he had thought of his daughter that he had stopped.
"Ah, after something like today, the police department will probably be busy for a long time again. Who knows when I’ll get the chance to take a vacation and properly spend time with my family."
George sighed helplessly and could only silently return to his bedroom.
To become captain in his forties, he had undoubtedly given up many things, including time with his family.
Inside Gwen’s bedroom, Gwen had seemed to be sound asleep in bed.
But after her keen senses detected that her father had left, she suddenly opened her eyes.
She slowly sat up and carefully removed the torn bodysuit she had worn through tonight’s battle.
"Hiss."
Even though she was being careful, she still touched an injured spot. The sudden pain nearly made her cry out.
"Thankfully, my body changed, and my recovery ability is several times stronger than an ordinary person’s."
"Otherwise, I really wouldn’t know how to explain this tomorrow."
She applied the medicine she had prepared beforehand to her injuries.
Enduring the sharp pain, Gwen lay back down on her bed and slowly closed her eyes.
But a few minutes later, she suddenly opened them again.
"Damn it, I can’t sleep at all."
Though her body was exhausted, Gwen’s mind remained incredibly excited.
In the end, she took out a pen and notebook from her bedside table, leaned against the bed, and began to draw.
Before long, a lifelike drawing had taken shape.
On the white paper, a figure clad in a black Spider Suit leaped vividly from the page.
Rip…
But the instant she finished the drawing, she mercilessly tore it into countless tiny scraps without hesitation.
Then she tossed them into the trash can.
"Whew, that feels much better!"
After venting in her own special way, Gwen seemed to feel much better.
"And that guy… was he really Superman?"
As she recalled the figure floating in the air, who had left her utterly shaken, Gwen slowly began to draw in her notebook again.
Meanwhile, in the distant reaches of space,
Peter stretched out his arms and embraced the sun.
He was carefully experiencing the entirely different sensation of being exposed to the sun here compared to on Earth.
At that moment, every cell in his body seemed to become completely active.
Countless rays of sunlight rushed into his body, transformed by the unique changes in his cells into a special kind of energy within him.
Almost every minute—even every second—his body was rapidly growing stronger.
Peter remained in space for several hours, basking in the sun in that embracing posture.
Until New York’s night had ended and the dawn sun rose from the east.
Peter, whose eyes had been tightly shut, finally snapped them open.
The instant he opened them, a trace of golden light seemed to flow through his crystalline eyes.
The next moment, he suddenly changed direction and flew rapidly toward Earth below.
In less than a minute, Peter returned from space hundreds of kilometers away to the ground.
However, after returning to Earth, Peter was in no hurry to fly home.
Instead, he flew to a desolate place.
Huge boulders of varying sizes stood everywhere, without even a blade of grass in sight.
The smallest boulders were only a few meters tall, while the tallest reached nearly a hundred meters, like miniature mountains.
Peter slowly flew above a massive boulder nearly ten meters in diameter.
He opened his eyes wide and stared "fiercely" at the boulder before him.
One second… ten seconds… one minute…
Several full minutes passed, yet Peter simply kept his eyes wide open and stared at the boulder before him.
It was as if the boulder had a blood feud with him, and he wanted to shatter it with his vicious glare.
Nearly ten minutes passed. Even with a Man of Steel, Peter could not help feeling his eyes grow dry.
Then a searing energy suddenly gathered within his eyes.
In an instant, a flash of brilliant red bloomed in Peter’s formerly black pupils, like fiercely burning flames.
In just an instant, that fiery crimson filled his entire gaze.
With scarlet light flashing in his eyes, he looked like a demon from hell.
"Ah!"
With Peter’s roar, two thick red beams of Heat Vision instantly shot out from his blazing red eyes.
Carrying terrifying heat and tremendous force, they instantly struck the boulder beneath him.
Sizzle, sizzle, sizzle…
The powerful impact instantly pierced through the boulder before him.
The blazing heat actually roasted the inside of the boulder until it glowed red, like heated metal.
Boom!
Several seconds later, the boulder, its internal and external temperatures thrown drastically out of balance, exploded violently.
Peter instinctively turned his head, but the Heat Vision in his eyes did not stop. It followed his gaze and carved a trench several meters deep across the ground.
Everything in the path of the Heat Vision was instantly sliced apart. Countless boulders split in two, their cross-sections cut as cleanly as if by sharp blades, still glowing with fading red light.
During this, he even sliced a boulder dozens of meters tall vertically into two halves.
The shattered boulder crashed down to either side, kicking up clouds of dust.
Only after Peter turned his gaze toward the sky, sending the scarlet Heat Vision soaring into the heavens and scattering the clouds above,
did Peter finally manage to control that powerful force and abruptly close his eyes.
Even then, the two blazing red eyes sealed beneath his eyelids could still be seen through them.
Gradually, the red light in his eyes faded away.
