I’m Not a Bloodthirsty Person (Thanks to “La La La Reading La” for the Donation)

"…"

Seeing their leader’s eyes shot blind in an instant and their companion’s spine crushed by a hammer blow, the remaining samurai froze again almost simultaneously after coming to their senses.

And in that instant—

Smack!!

The force of the swinging punch scattered the rain in the air, bursting it into fragments with an explosive crack.

Yun Chuan’s figure dove from midair like an eagle in a motion that defied all reason.

The samurai, accustomed to honing themselves through stillness and sword-drawing, were not slow to react. Especially after witnessing their companion’s bizarre death, they dared not underestimate him. Driven almost purely by instinct, they twisted aside to evade Yun Chuan’s punch.

But unfortunately…

"I’m not some brute who only knows how to throw punches."

Yun Chuan’s amused voice reached the samurai’s ears, while the fist he had dodged suddenly flashed with a cold gleam.

Pshht!!

In that instant, the two samurai who had dodged his punch failed to evade the broken blade in his grip.

Armor capable of withstanding ninja tools and even ninjutsu could not stop a single slash. The blade carved two sprays of blood across the weakly protected throats of the samurai.

The fourth and fifth samurai approached from the front and rear, but before they could even launch their attacks, Yun Chuan was already kneeling atop another samurai’s shoulder.

"You don’t look like a qualified samurai."

Facing the frenzied, vicious yet disordered and terrified slashes of the samurai before him, Yun Chuan merely narrowed his eyes and chuckled, immediately spotting the wide-open flaw in his defense.

Bang!!

His clenched fist exposed only the knuckle of his middle finger, which shot out like a blade and struck the samurai’s throat with ruthless decisiveness!

—A jab, also called Impaling Strike.

Among the fighting techniques provided by the Bullseye Template, it was also a technique that combined both speed and power.

If the target was sufficiently vulnerable, it could kill in a single blow. And one only needed to hear the sound of Yun Chuan’s fist tearing through the air to understand its force.

After the Impaling Strike, he abruptly twisted around and looked behind him.

Crack! Crack!!

Two crisp sounds of shattering bone rang out almost at the same time. The samurai beneath him and the one before him both froze in place.

The samurai behind Yun Chuan had his head twisted one hundred and eighty degrees, and even a warrior of iron will could not stop a trace of fear from rising within him.

Besides the Five Great Nations, whose status stood above all others, and small buffer nations like the Land of Rain, the ninja world also contained a handful of neutral countries that maintained special diplomatic relations with other nations and possessed unique status and functions.

For example, the homeland of these samurai.

—The Land of Iron.

This country had remained a neutral nation, never invaded or annexed by other countries, partly because its geography was harsh and frigid. It lay along the coast and did not border any great nation.

But the more important reason was, in truth, "political factors."

The Land of Iron had no ninja. It was protected instead by samurai groups, who possessed their own unique culture, authority, and combat strength.

The age of the samurai had gradually faded with the rise of ninja, but they had always been favored by nobles who did not trust ninja.

In particular, the ancient education samurai received from childhood had taught them to uphold samurai honor and loyalty. For the interests of the nobility, they would even sacrifice their lives.

It was precisely because of this special status that samurai could be found throughout the nations of the ninja world, and the Land of Iron could remain "neutral."

And the samurai standing before Yun Chuan now were the personal guards of the Lord of the Land of Rain, the most fearless among all samurai.

But at this moment, he experienced fear more deeply than ever before!

"Ah! Die!!" The samurai let out an involuntary roar, as though trying to gather his courage. His hands gripping the katana clenched so hard that they turned white.

In contrast, Yun Chuan’s movements did not pause in the slightest. The broken blade in his hand whipped out with a sound that shook the rain curtain.

Unlike before, when he had nowhere to brace himself in midair, the instant the broken blade pierced the samurai’s visor slit, it sent his entire head and body flying backward, pinning him to the ground like an insect, unable to move.

"Damn it! Damn it! Where are you?!"

The samurai headman trembled as he turned toward the places where his subordinates had died and cried out, but his blood-soaked eyes could now see only a bottomless darkness.

He had never felt so helpless.

In his perception, there was no trace of Yun Chuan at all.

He could only feel that the rain had grown heavier and the wind colder.

No.

That was Yun Chuan’s figure flitting among the samurai.

It was the broken blade in his hand whipping up a chilling wind and a rain of blood.

Flesh and blood flew everywhere. The sight was gruesome, and the screams pierced to the bone.

Before Yun Chuan, the heavily armored samurai were absurdly clumsy, like oversized dolls that he could dismantle as he pleased.

But what spilled from the gaps was not stuffing, but scarlet, viscous blood!

"Urgh!!"

"Devil! He’s a devil!"

"Run! Move! Don’t block the way!"

The scene was like a massive slaughterhouse. Even the civilians in the distance could not stop themselves from vomiting as they scrambled away from them in terror.

After witnessing such cruel and horrifying methods of killing, no one dared treat Yun Chuan as a gentle child like those refugees had before.

"Ah!!"

The helpless samurai headman could only slash blindly, but a foot stomped down on his knees and bent them backward until they snapped.

He howled miserably and dropped to one knee in humiliation. Then his consciousness finally sank into darkness.

"Actually, I’m not a bloodthirsty person."

Yun Chuan lightly shook his hand, scattering the collected droplets of blood from his knuckles onto the ground. He looked toward the girl tightly clutching her younger brother behind him and said gently, "Do you believe me?"

Behind him, a fine line of blood appeared on the samurai headman’s neck and gradually spread…

Thud!

His head rolled onto the ground, and his rigid corpse crashed down.

The sound of the body falling landed heavily on everyone’s ears, as though it had struck directly against their hearts.

—That was the weight of a life passing away.

"…"

Covered in mud, the girl raised her head and looked at Yun Chuan’s face. In the end, she actually nodded. "You are a good person."

Even though she had just felt a chill appear on her neck.

Clearly, he had considered taking her life, because she had stood in his way earlier.

But if he had truly wanted to harm her, she would already be dead. There would have been no room for negotiation, and she would not even have had the chance to beg for mercy.

In other words, he had saved her and her brother, then spared her life as well.

Thus, the girl reached a conclusion.

—He was a good person.

"A good person?"

In the distance, everyone seemed to have had their throats seized. Yahiko, in particular, had gone pale and could not make a single sound. Hearing their conversation, he did not know whether to cry or laugh.

It sounded like a joke.

But this joke was not funny at all!

Yet Yun Chuan could tell that the girl was sincere.

As long as someone saved her and her brother, that person was a good person, while the lives and deaths of others were completely irrelevant?

"Compared to that naive, childish brat, you really are realistic enough… But I like children like you."

As though he had heard a joke, Yun Chuan could not help laughing. Then he softly said, "What I mean is, rather than being sold to that useless Lord, would you like to sell your soul to a better buyer?"

Selling one’s soul to a devil was not tragic. What was truly tragic was failing to sell it for a suitable price.

The girl felt that the person before her, who looked even more like a devil, might be able to offer a better price.
