Red Cap Goblins’ Little Talent Show
"I’d advise you not to make a move against ‘toads.’"
Fang Mo pressed a hand on Zeppeli’s shoulder and warned him earnestly, "The power of fate in this world seems especially fond of toads. Anyone who dares mistreat one… is basically not far from death."
"Huh?"
Zeppeli looked at Fang Mo strangely.
"You’re just a passing Ripple User, not a mage, so it’s normal that you don’t know these secrets."
Fang Mo shrugged and explained with a serious expression, "In this world, toads are the incarnations of supreme gods. Anyone who bullies a toad, whether righteous or evil, will meet an extremely miserable end."
"Teacher, is that true?"
Jonathan immediately grew nervous. "I think I caught frogs in the river when I was little."
"See? Case closed, right?"
Fang Mo spread his hands. "I was wondering how such a good kid like you could die so young. Turns out you bullied toads. It’s fine. I’ll find a chance to chop off your head and treat you too…"
Fang Mo wasn’t talking nonsense. In the JOJO world, anyone who dared make a move against a toad really did die.
Zeppeli had used a toad to demonstrate the power of Hamon, and he ended up dying a horrible death. Dio had also cursed a toad, causing himself to be reduced to ashes.
Tear Luca had hit a toad and dropped dead on the spot. Doppio had suddenly fallen ill and used a toad as a phone, only to be ruthlessly shot dead. Diavolo had eaten a frog alive and fallen into an endless cycle of death. Risotto had extracted Iron from a frog’s body and been BIU’d to death by the little airplane.
Even the invincible Stardust Crusaders of Part Three had suffered later tragedies because they ate a frog feast somewhere… including but not limited to Kakyoin Noriaki having his chest punched through, Avdol being swallowed by Aja’s Breath, Iggy being beaten to death, Polnareff losing everything including his friends, physical body, and Stand, Joseph developing dementia in old age, and Jotaro dying heroically to protect his daughter.
Even Father Pucci, the final villain of Part Six, Stone Ocean, had accidentally died just as his final wish was about to come true because he made a frog’s head explode.
Everyone knew that Hirohiko Araki loved depicting animals dying in his works.
Yet toads had absurdly good luck. After some meticulous deduction, enthusiastic netizens had put forward a hypothesis—the famous Araki Toad Hypothesis.
"What’s the principle behind that?"
After hearing Fang Mo’s explanation, Zeppeli was utterly baffled. "Why would fate be tied to toads?"
"Magic doesn’t care about principles. We only care about the effects that actually happen."
Fang Mo shook his head. "People like us who play with magic are basically the same as those coders. We don’t know why this gener—why this magic works either, but it does, so all you need to know is not to mess with it… Forget it, that’s not something we should chant. Anyway, just walk around them next time you see one."
"That sounds ridiculously far-fetched."
After hearing Fang Mo out, Zeppeli honestly looked completely confused.
But soon, he recalled Master Straizo’s prophecy. It was said that the man before him possessed enough power to tear apart fate itself. After considering it for a moment, Zeppeli respectfully nodded. "In any case, thank you for the warning. I’ll be careful."
"If you really want to use a creature to demonstrate Hamon, I suggest this."
Seeing that Zeppeli was so sensible, Fang Mo smiled and pulled out the manifested Moonlight Worm Queen from behind his back. He gave its belly a light squeeze, and two eggs instantly shot out, landing with a smack and turning into two glowing maggots… or rather, Moonlight Worms.
"This is…?" Everyone froze.
"Miner’s Happy Bugs."
Fang Mo said, "They’re magical creatures that can be used as Torches. All right, Old Zeppeli, hurry up and show JoJo your Hamon."
"Fine."
Zeppeli did not hesitate. He took a deep breath, then punched one of the Moonlight Worms.
Yet the imagined scene of it bursting apart did not occur. The worm remained completely unharmed, but the rock beneath it suddenly cracked open. Several finger-thick fissures spread outward in all directions.
"This… what?!"
Jonathan was visibly shocked. "The Miner’s Happy Bug wasn’t hurt at all?"
"You really went and called it that?" Zeppeli adjusted his hat. This child was far too straightforward. "In any case, this is my mystical art, a method that strengthens the physical body through Ripple energy. My Hamon passed through the worm’s body as a conductor and shattered the rock. This energy can not only heal the physical body, but also possesses the same wavelength as The Sun. It can be used to kill those Stone Mask men."
"The same wavelength as The Sun?"
Jonathan suddenly froze, recalling how Dio’s arm had been shattered by him before. "Wait! Mr. Zeppeli… does that mean the power of The Sun can kill those monsters?"
"Of course!"
Zeppeli immediately said, "Those creatures of the dark will be burned to ashes the instant they see The Sun. That is why I want you to learn Hamon. Otherwise, you could never defeat—"
Before Zeppeli could finish, Jonathan’s body suddenly lit up with an incomparably dazzling golden radiance.
"Mr. Zeppeli, do you mean energy like this?"
Jonathan’s voice came from within the light.
"This… what?!"
Zeppeli’s face was filled with astonished disbelief. "What is this light, as blinding as The Sun? Hamon? No… this is fiercer than Ripple energy. It’s as if immense Sun Power is surging through his blood…"
At this point, Zeppeli seemed to suddenly realize something and turned to Fang Mo.
"Was this your doing as well?"
Zeppeli asked.
"Yes, this is the magic Teacher taught me." Before Fang Mo could speak, Jonathan answered on his own. "When I was very young, Teacher taught me Sun Magic… Oh, right, Teacher, I can release Sun Punch now."
"…"
Zeppeli fell silent.
Only then did he understand what Master Straizo’s words had meant.
The man before him truly possessed the power to tear apart fate. Perhaps he had known about the vampires long ago, which was why he had made Jonathan cultivate Sun Power since childhood. Looking at him now, Jonathan was practically a vampire’s natural nemesis.
If Zeppeli taught him Hamon as well… this child might truly be able to save the world.
Thinking of this, Zeppeli’s heart could not help burning with excitement.
Thus, during the following period of time,
Zeppeli diligently taught Jonathan Hamon.
George woke up not long afterward. When he saw another "himself" in the neighboring bed, he thought he had become a ghost and was frightened out of his wits.
Fortunately, Speedwagon had been by his side the whole time and quickly explained the situation to him.
Jonathan soon rushed back as well and explained Fang Mo’s words to him, about deceiving fate and such.
George Joestar quickly calmed down after hearing it. In truth, he had already prepared himself for death. Fang Mo had warned him more than twenty years ago that he would die in his son’s arms after his son came of age. Thus, when that moment arrived, he had been remarkably calm.
What George Joestar had not expected was that he would come back to life.
After hearing his son’s suggestion, George did not refuse. He simply nodded and agreed. The will to survive was human instinct, after all. Besides, strictly speaking, George had already died, hadn’t he?
What did George Joestar’s desire for death have to do with George Joestar I?
In any case, very soon,
George’s funeral was held as scheduled.
However, it was worth mentioning that Fang Mo did not actually attend the funeral.
He merely returned in a hurry, stabbed George’s fake body once, then left again. Thus, Speedwagon became the one presiding over the funeral.
Although the Joestar family mansion had burned down, the Joestar family’s assets consisted of more than just that one house. Jonathan therefore purchased an excellent burial plot and held a very solemn funeral for his old father. Following Fang Mo’s advice, he also hired craftsmen to carve a piece of diorite into his Tombstone.
After that, Jonathan devoted himself wholeheartedly to learning Hamon.
As for Fang Mo?
He was currently working as a miner in Egypt.
After all, he had no interest in this Hamon business.
It was a method that used breathing to make the blood generate energy, but Fang Mo did not even have a drop of blood in his body. What the hell was he supposed to learn?
Rather than stay there watching the show, he might as well go stir things up in Egypt first.
Although Fang Mo was living comfortably in the JOJO world, he knew in his heart that he did not belong there. He had only two purposes for coming here: one was to change those misfortunes, and the other was to obtain the Requiem Arrow.
Now that Fang Mo’s influence had likely resolved all the misfortunes from the original story, he shifted his focus to the Requiem Arrow. While Jonathan was learning Hamon, he went to Egypt to make proper arrangements and dig up the Requiem Arrow as soon as possible, so he would not have to keep lingering here.
Because of A Xue’s earlier suggestion,
Fang Mo had brought quite a few monsters out of the MC world this time.
Using the translation ability of the Chinese Language Mod, along with gold as Money Power, Fang Mo quickly established a small force of his own in Egypt and began experimenting with manifesting monsters into reality.
The first creatures to be manifested
were Red Cap Goblins and Red Cap Goblins.
After being manifested, Red Cap Goblins and Red Cap Goblins looked almost identical in appearance.
They were less than a meter tall, slightly stooped, carrying Iron Pickaxes, and wearing little red hats. Their skin was a strange yellowish green. Though their facial features resembled those of humans, they somehow always looked shifty-eyed and sneaky. From time to time, they also let out irritating little laughs like "Hehehe" and "Heeheehee."
"Emmm…"
Fang Mo stared at the shifty-eyed Red Cap Goblins before him and fell into deep thought.
"Hehehehe, Master."
The Red Cap Goblins let out a series of grating laughs, then began talking over one another to Fang Mo. "Please give us your orders. We will definitely… heeheehee… complete our mission."
"Really? Why do your smiles look so damn unreliable?"
Fang Mo wiped his face. "How about this? Show me your talents first. Let me see what you can do."
"Hehehe… Sure!"
Several Red Cap Goblins exchanged glances, then began their performance.
One Red Cap Goblin started digging into the ground with his pickaxe. Before long, he had dug what looked like a narrow smuggler’s tunnel, then crawled inside and vanished.
Another began tilling the ground with his pickaxe, as if he were planning to farm it.
As for the final two, they exchanged a glance with tacit understanding. Then, with exaggerated winks and grimaces, they pulled out two large bundles of dynamite. Before Fang Mo could react, they immediately lit the fuses with flint and steel, then turned and ran away with a burst of strange laughter. The entire process was smooth as flowing water, leaving Fang Mo dumbfounded.
"No… holy shit!"
"BOOM!"
