Social Practice Class
"We didn’t disgrace China!"
A young man of seventeen or eighteen appeared before Captain America and the others. He walked up to Long Tao Bing, held his head high, and spoke proudly.
"People from your school came too?"
Long Tao Bing stared in astonishment at the many people ahead wearing the same uniform as the student before him.
"And this is?"
Captain America looked curiously at the energetic young man.
"My younger brother, Long Aotian…"
"This is a rare social practice class, as well as a practical combat exercise!"
Long Aotian said excitedly, "We were already back in the dorms, ready to sleep, when we heard aliens were invading here. We assembled in an emergency and came straight over. Never mind, I’m not talking to you anymore. I’m going to kill aliens. This concerns my future graduation credits!"
After saying that, Long Aotian ignored his brother, gave him a quick greeting, and charged toward the Outriders.
Nowadays, Chinese people—especially these students—not only possessed tremendous magical talent, but also exceptionally strong physiques. On top of that, Kamar-Taj had always been a group of "melee mages." Things had gone off track now: China’s Magic Schools had all been influenced, and every student had become a melee mage. Not only did they wield powerful magic, but they had also learned China’s ancestral martial arts. The strength of these melee mages was practically off the charts!
In any case, most students were actually far stronger in combat than their teachers.
By now, the only thing those mages could teach the students was the limited combat experience they had.
As for magic? Chen Mu’s extracurricular book, "God in Five Years, Sorcerer Supreme in Three," had directly illustrated the most fundamental magical circuits. What magic could they possibly fail to learn?
With enough practice, everyone had the potential to become a Sorcerer Supreme!
Not to mention that Long Aotian’s school had a bald, fat teacher who served as Kamar-Taj’s librarian. Yes, that was Wang…
Teacher Wang had come to New York this time as an accompanying instructor, intending to guide the students in how to use magic. But after taking one look at the battle, he could only stand there in a daze.
Every single student was stronger than him. That was somewhat awkward for Wang, though he was proud as well.
See that? More than a hundred students in his class were all stronger than him now. He had taught them all, and quite a few among them had the potential to become Sorcerer Supreme.
Wang felt honored by it. He could not help but admire Ancient One’s approach—reaching a partnership with China and promoting magic throughout an enormous nation. That had once been unimaginable. With such a massive population base, the number of outstanding mages was even harder to imagine.
In just two or three short years, the number of mages that had emerged had increased dozens of times over!
And Wang had recently heard that China seemed to be preparing to use the Time Stone to accelerate time within the Mirror Dimension housing the Magic Schools. They were practically turning on cheats, directly doubling the speed of mage training…
Seriously, using the Time Stone to cheat was utterly ruthless!
China had more than just one or two Magic Schools. By now, nearly every province had one or two such Magic-Martial Schools, with no fewer than fifty across the country. Now that war had broken out in New York, all these schools had organized their graduating classes for social practice lessons—meaning, fighting aliens. Each school had sent several hundred students, so tens of thousands of mage apprentices had arrived as reinforcements, nearly matching the Outriders in number.
Moreover, these so-called "mage apprentices" were no weaker in actual combat than veteran mages.
As the mages entered the battlefield, the previously arrogant Outriders were once again beaten senseless.
Good heavens, with this batch of mage apprentices joining the fight, there were not even enough Chitauri soldiers and Outriders on the battlefield to go around.
If the teachers had not stopped them, these spirited, battle-hungry Chinese students would have wanted to charge through the portal and fight their way back to the other side!
Uh, the invaders had nearly been beaten into becoming the invaded. That was really something else!
Perhaps China’s strength had been too overwhelming. The assault from the other side of the portal slowed, and the invasion itself halted. For a long while, no more alien troops came through.
Thinking about it, they had assumed it was a low-level civilization that had not even left its own planet, one that could be wiped out by casually sending a group of soldiers. Yet the power now erupting from Earth had left the Dark Order on the other side of the portal dumbfounded.
This was the low-level civilization Loki had talked about? These Earthlings who had not even left Earth?
There had to be a trick to this!
They could no longer contact Loki. Everyone in the Dark Order now believed that Loki had set this up as a trap, claiming such overwhelming power could be dealt with easily.
Did this look like something that could be handled easily?
Still, one thing was certain: the Tesseract really was on Earth. Together with the Mind Stone currently lost on Earth, there were two Stones here. No matter what, Thanos’s army had to seize them!
Therefore, the Dark Order was now gathering even stronger forces, preparing to conquer Earth in one stroke!
Just as Captain America thought the war was over, a massive circular spacecraft flew out of the already enormous portal.
It was a Dark Order vessel, a subsidiary craft of the Sanctuary Ship. It looked like a doughnut, with a radius of roughly five hundred meters. It was enormous and heavily armed.
After bursting through the portal, it immediately launched an attack on the ground. It was cosmic-grade bombardment, terrifyingly powerful, easily capable of collapsing entire stretches of skyscrapers.
The mages below all raised magical shields. Their combined shields easily blocked the spacecraft’s bombardment.
In a real cosmic war, close-quarters clashes between ground forces were actually rare. Most of the time, it was simply a matter of saturating the target with firepower. What sensible person would fight you infantry against infantry?
Don’t accuse them of lacking honor. This was cosmic warfare. Even on modern-day Earth, when the American military dealt with countries like Afghanistan, did they not use high-tech weapons for a dimensionality-reduction strike?
The Dark Order’s assault on New York was entirely reasonable.
"Die!"
Nezha had been hunting Leviathans the entire time. Nearly every Leviathan had been roasted into mantis shrimp in his hands. Now, seeing the doughnut-shaped warship, he charged toward it. Endless Eternal Flame surged at the vessel, only to be blocked by its force field.
Nezha was individually very powerful, but the Eternal Flame in his hands could not breach the doughnut ship’s defenses for the moment.
"Interesting."
Nezha’s eyes lit up. It looked like he needed to get serious!
"Nezha, no need. The Space Force is here."
Chen Mu arrived beside Nezha at that moment and told him to stay calm. He had already received word from the Space Force, so there was naturally no need to keep fighting.
