Sunglasses On, No Love for Anyone

As an Unregistered Mutant who had long since made it onto the Department of Mutant Affairs’ Wanted List, Sabretooth had quite a few hidden residences in the United States—or rather, Safehouses.

To avoid being tracked down by the Department of Mutant Affairs, he and Clarice moved every so often and never stayed in one city for too long.

Though it was troublesome, it had to be said that their habit of moving periodically was precisely why they had not been targeted by Department of Mutant Affairs agents before.

"There aren’t many ingredients left in the fridge. I’ll go buy some from the supermarket."

Clarice walked out of the kitchen and spoke to Richard and Sabretooth.

As soon as Clarice finished speaking, Sabretooth frowned and said,

"The Department of Mutant Affairs already knows you’re my adopted daughter. Your identity as a mutant has been exposed. It’s too dangerous for you to go out alone."

After saying that, Sabretooth shot Richard an annoyed glare.

When they had run into Inessa and the others at the restaurant, he had thought Inessa had come for him.

However, the facts proved that Inessa and her group’s target had not been him and Clarice, but Richard.

Simply put, if not for Richard, he and Clarice would never have been discovered by the Department of Mutant Affairs, much less captured.

Although Richard had rescued them, in the end, all of this had been caused by him.

Richard paid Sabretooth’s glare no mind.

However, he agreed with Sabretooth on one point: it was somewhat unsafe for Clarice to go shopping alone.

"I’ll go with you."

Hearing him, both Sabretooth and Clarice frowned.

"Is there a problem?"

Richard asked suspiciously.

"Haven’t you gone online or watched the news these past few days?"

Sabretooth asked in return.

"No." Richard shook his head.

"You’ve been wanted, and it’s an A-level Wanted Order!"

As Sabretooth spoke, he turned on the living room television and found a news channel.

Then, Richard saw the A-level Wanted Order for his arrest.

Watching the wanted order scroll across the news channel, he frowned slightly.

Was that really necessary? I only killed three of your Mutant Agents!

Richard complained inwardly.

Although the number of Mutant Agents who had died at his hands had now reached fifteen, it was obvious that this A-level Wanted Order had been issued before he killed Aiden and the others.

Having completely absorbed the original owner’s memories, he knew that mutant wanted orders in the United States were divided into five levels.

From highest to lowest, they were S, A, B, C, and D.

Not only that, he also knew that Magneto was currently the only Unregistered Mutant wanted under an S-level Wanted Order.

After complaining inwardly, he asked Sabretooth, "You should be wanted too. What level is your wanted order?"

"B-level!"

Sabretooth Responded with a displeased expression.

Although the higher the wanted order’s level, the more intensely the Department of Mutant Affairs would pursue the target,

for Unregistered Mutants who opposed the Mutant Restriction Act, wanted orders issued by the Department of Mutant Affairs were practically medals of honor.

Not only that, some Unregistered Mutants even deliberately committed major atrocities to raise the level of their wanted orders.

For example, attacking Department of Mutant Affairs offices, ambushing Mutant Agents, attacking a government department, launching operations against the Department of Mutant Affairs in a downtown area, and so on.

Though these actions seemed childish and would draw fierce retaliation from the Department of Mutant Affairs, they were important—and necessary—for mutants who wanted to become famous.

If they had been strong enough, these fame-seeking mutants would even have considered attacking the White House and the Pentagon.

Hearing Sabretooth’s answer, Richard said calmly,

"It’s only an A-level Wanted Order. There’s nothing to care about."

"If the Department of Mutant Affairs’ wanted orders were really that useful, all wanted mutants would have been rounded up long ago."

After saying that, he took a baseball cap and a pair of sunglasses from the System Space.

Then, under Sabretooth and Clarice’s watchful eyes, he put on the cap and sunglasses.

Sunglasses on, no love for anyone!

"Alright, there shouldn’t be many people who can recognize me now," Richard continued.

Are you kidding me? Sabretooth and Clarice rolled their eyes at him simultaneously.

Seeing their eye rolls, Richard said unhurriedly,

"When it doesn’t concern them, most Ordinary People prefer to stay out of it."

"I admit this disguise is a little casual, but I have a lot of confidence in it."

"For one thing, my hair is a different length from the hair in the wanted order."

"Even though it’s silver too, people will only remember that the wanted mutant had short silver hair."

Richard pointed at his silver hair, which had nearly reached his shoulders.

Only after hearing him did Sabretooth and Clarice realize that his hair was much longer than it had been three days ago.

"Is this a side effect of awakening your superpower?"

Clarice asked softly.

"Something like that!"

Richard nodded.

Aside from Alpha-level and Omega-level mutants, mutants of every other level possessed some outward traits that differed from Ordinary People.

This was especially true for Epsilon Level mutants, whose appearances were practically monstrous.

Though Clarice was not Epsilon Level, she also had typical mutation traits.

Her magenta hair and green eyes were her mutation traits.

Otherwise, she would look exactly like that woman in her younger days, with beautiful Uhei hair and black eyes.

"Alright, don’t waste any more time. Clarice and I will go to the supermarket."

After saying that, Richard walked over to Clarice and gestured for her to create a Spatial Gate out of the apartment.

Clarice nodded, raised her right hand, and threw out a ball of purple Spatial Energy, creating a Spatial Gate leading to an alley near the supermarket.

Although she had not lived in Los Angeles for long, she knew the area around the apartment building very well.

As Clarice prepared to enter the Spatial Gate, Richard took a baseball cap and a pair of sunglasses from the System Space and handed them to her.

Clarice did not refuse. She immediately took the baseball cap and sunglasses and put them on.

Then, she passed through the Spatial Gate.

The Spatial Gate Clarice created was not far from the supermarket.

After exiting the Spatial Gate, they quickly arrived at the supermarket and began shopping.

Without much effort, they bought all the food they needed.

Just as Richard had guessed, although his disguise was extremely simple, neither the customers nor the staff in the supermarket recognized him as the mutant on the wanted order.

Not only that, while he pushed the shopping cart and bought groceries with Clarice, several American girls wearing shorts and crop tops took the initiative to strike up conversations with him.

Although these American girls were enthusiastic, attractive, and far more curvaceous than Clarice, Richard did not accept their eager invitations.

Women would only slow down the speed of my draw!

Even Clarice, who was more his type and had the typical features of a Chinese-American woman, did not stir much interest in him right now, let alone these American girls.
