Surviving Avengers

Deadpool moved quickly—or rather, his killing spree proceeded far faster than most people had imagined.

Although Zhang Ye had dispatched Kara and Pietro to stop Deadpool as soon as he learned what was happening, they had still been a step too late. Far more superheroes had fallen victim than anyone had expected.

According to intelligence sent back by Cable and Misty Knight, Deadpool’s former teammates—the Mercs for Money—had already been secretly wiped out by Deadpool.

The Mercs for Money were a super team founded by Deadpool, made up of a group of freelance bounty hunters. But now, including Masacre and Madcap, all of them had died at the hands of their former captain, Deadpool.

Mutant Domino and some members of the Thunderbolts had also been executed there. According to Ape-Man, the only one who had been gravely wounded and barely clung to life, Deadpool had sent them messages and gathered them there.

They had thought Deadpool had a new mission, or perhaps had run into trouble and needed help from his old friends. What they had never expected was that Deadpool would ambush them the moment they arrived.

Fully armed, Deadpool killed several of their strongest fighters in their first exchange. And because Deadpool knew them so well, their strengths and weaknesses were as transparent as glass to him. Before long, they died one after another by his hand.

As for Ape-Man, the only reason he had survived was thanks entirely to his curse. Back when he had still been human, Ape-Man had been cursed for killing a gorilla, transforming into one himself. That curse had consequently been transferred onto him.

In other words, whoever killed him would also be cursed and turned into a gorilla. Deadpool clearly knew this information well, so he beat him half to death, locked him in the basement, and left him to fend for himself.

Aside from them, the various Spider-Men had also been targeted by the crazed Deadpool. Though Jessica Jones and Hawkeye Kate Bishop had given it everything they had, they still could not stop his slaughter while he wielded Osborn Tech.

Under Deadpool’s nearly insane assault, the two could only watch helplessly as Spider-Man and Ghost-Spider died before their eyes. Deadpool then swaggered away atop the Green Goblin Glider, soaring into the sky.

After doing all that, with the villains’ help, Deadpool set his sights even farther afield. Before Kara subdued him, the final massacre Deadpool committed was a slaughter aimed at the X-Men.

High-level fighters including Cyclops, White Queen, Li Qianhuan, and Iceman all failed to escape Deadpool’s attack.

When this news reached the Avengers, the remaining superheroes all fell silent.

Captain America Sam Wilson looked terrible. He had never expected events to take such a sharp turn for the worse so quickly. After receiving word that Deadpool was the culprit behind the slaughter of heroes, he immediately gave orders for the other heroes to unite and for lone heroes to be more cautious.

In his original estimation, Deadpool was merely a troublesome minor player. As long as the other heroes stayed alert and prepared themselves, Deadpool would have no opening to exploit and naturally would be unable to continue his killing spree.

Meanwhile, he could use that time to arrange for his people to gather intelligence on the villains and investigate how they had brainwashed and controlled Deadpool.

But what he had not expected was that events had clearly gone beyond his predictions. Before he could gather any intelligence on the villains, heroes had already died one after another at Deadpool’s hands.

At that moment, the superhero teams that had once existed in every state across America had been reduced to less than one in ten by Deadpool. If Kara had not moved quickly, even the underage hero group, the Superpower Squad, would have met with disaster.

"This can’t go on!" Ant-Man stepped forward, breaking the oppressive silence. "We have to act quickly and deal with Deadpool. If this continues, more and more of us will be sacrificed!"

"There’s no way around it. Deadpool can teleport at will. Catching him is too difficult—we have no idea where he is right now." Cable sighed.

"Can’t we track him through the internet? Vision can monitor the network. As long as Deadpool appears in this world, it’s impossible for him not to leave traces. Besides, Doctor Strange should have a way to deal with Deadpool’s teleportation. As long as we can trap him, we can end all this." Ant-Man said.

"It won’t be that easy. M.O.D.O.K. activated Ultron’s data, and with Arnim Zola interfering, we can’t monitor every network at all. And I’ve contacted Doctor Strange several times already, but he hasn’t replied. We need to prepare for the worst." Captain America shook his head.

Watching everyone wear such worried expressions, the Scarlet Witch, who had remained silent until then, suddenly stood up.

"I came here to find a way to avenge Pietro, not to watch all of you sink into despair. I respect you as my seniors, but honestly, if you can’t come up with a solution, then don’t blame me for doing things my way."

Hearing the Scarlet Witch’s icy words, everyone could sense that she was already on the verge of exploding with rage.

"Wanda, calm down first. Our goal is the same: to avenge our family and friends. But before that, we still need to come up with a foolproof plan. Otherwise, we’ll be placing ourselves in danger too." Captain America said solemnly.

"Yeah, Wanda." Black Panther took over. "We can’t be sure how many supervillains are involved in this conspiracy. If we act rashly and fall into their ambush, then we—"

"Don’t give me all that crap!" Wanda roughly cut Black Panther off. "You’re afraid of dying. I’m not. I just want those people to pay the price."

"Wanda." Vision hesitated, but ultimately said nothing more. He silently walked to her side.

The Scarlet Witch walked before the group and looked around. Tears could not help but stream down her face.

"I don’t care whether Deadpool is innocent or not, and I don’t care how many criminals took part in this conspiracy. I only want you to give me a workable plan instead of making me sit here, unable to do anything, and wait. That’s all!"

Bzzzt!

Bzzzt—

Just then, a burst of intermittent electromagnetic static rang out.

After a brief moment of surprise, everyone immediately reacted. They all turned toward the source of the sound, only to see the large screen in the Avengers conference room light up.

It was not just the large screen in the meeting room. Smartphones, smart TVs, computers, and even screens on the streets of New York were affected at that moment.

After flickering twice, a short-haired girl with an "S" emblem on her chest slowly appeared on the screen.
