The Shackles Humanity Cannot Escape
"Alright, then is there anything I can help you with?"
Hearing the slight anger in Mr. Tony’s voice, Miss Lalatina spoke up.
Still, she was somewhat curious and looked over the guest being dragged across the floor.
Although it was only her first day here and she had not officially started working yet,
she had already taken care of Mr. Tony for a month at the Celebrity Hotel.
She knew Mr. Tony’s personality. He was arrogant, liked to talk to himself, but he was not bad-hearted and was extremely generous. He was the relatively easygoing type.
From what Sarah-senpai had told her, Miss Lalatina also had a very favorable impression of Mr. Tony.
This was the first time she had seen Mr. Tony looking somewhat angry.
"Today, you only came to familiarize yourself with the situation. You officially start work tomorrow."
"So you can leave for now."
"Jarvis, take Miss Lalatina to Miss Sarah."
Tony waved his hand as he spoke.
"Understood."
"Miss Lalatina, please follow the signs. I will take you to the helipad."
After receiving the instructions, Jarvis immediately replied.
"Alright, then I’ll see you tomorrow, Mr. Tony."
Hearing that Mr. Tony was telling her to clock out, Miss Lalatina nodded without asking why and left.
Loki did not particularly mind being dragged around by Tony. It was not as though he had never been beaten or cursed at before. But the curious look in that woman’s eyes earlier…
"Tony Stark, that’s enough."
"After all, I contributed during the New York War."
It made Loki feel extremely uncomfortable, and he spoke up.
"You still dare to act tough with me?"
"If you hadn’t put in some effort back then, and if your brother hadn’t begged me just now, I wouldn’t have bothered with you."
Hearing Loki’s words, Tony directly kicked him in the thigh and spoke irritably.
After being kicked, Loki felt a very distinct pain and had originally wanted to cry out.
However, hearing footsteps descending the stairs below, he felt it would be humiliating to scream in front of an ordinary person, so he endured it.
Tony, however, released the hand dragging Loki and headed straight for the lobby.
As he walked, the armor on Tony’s body automatically disengaged. He raised his hand and used Void Power to retrieve a bottle of liquor from the wine cabinet.
With a pop, the cork was pulled out. After pouring himself a drink,
Tony sat down on the sofa with his legs crossed, holding the glass in his hand.
"Sit down. I’ll tell you what the rules of the Void Cult are."
"Tony, you look rather young. Didn’t I hear that you were already in your forties?"
It was Thor’s first time seeing Tony’s true appearance, and he asked curiously.
"I was born human, and I still consider myself human."
"But regardless of how I see myself, after joining the Void Cult and receiving the Void blessing, there is no denying that the essence of my life has now surpassed humanity."
"Like you gods of Asgard, I possess a long lifespan of at least a thousand years, perhaps even several thousand."
"And that is merely one of the benefits brought by the Void blessing."
Since they were not on Earth, and the people before him were the Asgardian gods Thor and Loki, Tony had no need to hide his appearance.
"This Void blessing is that powerful?"
Hearing about such benefits, Thor’s eyes narrowed.
"It’s still too early for you to be surprised."
"Let me tell you this: all several hundred members currently on this island have received the Void blessing."
"You can regard every one of them as a superpowered individual, and one capable of growing stronger."
"They are quite easy to talk to when dealing with outsiders who come to visit the Void Cult with respect."
"But once Kassadin, the God of the Void, is involved, their attitudes become completely different."
"They are deeply devoted to the Void, because the Void blessing gave them the power to change their lives."
"Loki, you should count yourself fortunate. If Miss Sonia had not interrupted you just now and prevented you from finishing what you were about to say—"
"Even if you didn’t die, you would have been skinned alive."
Tony took a light sip of his drink and looked at Loki as he spoke slowly. Though alcohol no longer had much effect on him, Tony still liked its taste.
That was also why Tony had told Thor not to rush into thanking him. He should be thanking Miss Sonia instead.
"What does it mean to be a superpowered individual capable of growing stronger?"
Thor’s eyes held some confusion as he listened to Tony.
"Just as the message Kassadin spread when he founded the Void Cult said."
"Join the glorious evolution."
"The Void blessing grants people the ability to evolve."
"The directions evolution can take are currently ever-changing, but regardless of how one evolves, one’s strength will slowly increase again and again."
"My physical body should already be considered quite formidable in your eyes, yet I have evolved fewer than three hundred times."
Tony answered.
"The ability to evolve without limit… How could there be such an absurd blessing?"
Hearing Tony’s words, Thor felt as though his worldview had been shaken.
"Whether evolution can truly continue infinitely, I don’t know either, because I have only evolved a little over two hundred times."
"Although the rate of evolution becomes slower the further you go, Kassadin once told me something."
"Time will bring me everything I desire."
Tony could not give Thor an exact answer to that question. He did not know whether evolution could truly continue forever.
But merely evolving several hundred times was already enough to grant someone immensely formidable strength.
If one could also master other powers or borrow external forces in addition to the abilities gained through evolution, then one’s strength would become even greater.
Tony had undoubtedly chosen to rely on the technological power he created, raising his lower limit in order to increase the upper limit of his strength.
"What a confident statement."
Hearing that time would bring him everything he desired, Thor could sense just how confident and domineering Kassadin was regarding the blessings he bestowed upon others.
His father, God King Odin, could grant Godly Power and directly improve a person’s physique, but the extent of that improvement was limited.
Yet the power Kassadin bestowed seemed to exceed his father’s authority.
Just where had such a terrifying being come from?
"Before I joined the Void Cult, I was already highly intelligent, and the Iron Man armor I created was far ahead of Earth’s modern technology."
"But no matter how outstanding the Iron Man armor I made was, I could never completely eliminate the weakness of my fragile physical body."
"I am forty-two years old now. Under normal circumstances, once humans reach this age, the various functions of their bodies inevitably begin to decline."
"I was the same before. I could not escape the decay brought by age, so I pursued pleasure while life was short."
"My dream was to create technology that would go down in history during my lifetime, and preferably travel into space at least once. That was my original dream."
"Why call it a dream? Because I knew that if I had failed to reach space while I was young, it would be even more impossible once I grew old."
"After all, there are many intelligent people among humanity, but their bodies are incredibly frail."
"With Earth’s current technology, going into space places extremely high demands on one’s physical condition."
As Tony spoke, he talked about the ideals and dreams he had once held.
